4bdnsn0wflake here, bringing you a new theme.
Today’s theme is What If.
Have you ever watched or read something and wondered how things might have gone differently if something in the story had changed? Now is your chance to imagine what!
Prompts should involve a hypothetical situation that could have occurred before, during, or after cannon events.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]

Date: 2022-08-06 04:01 pm (UTC)Once the fever has burnt out and the trial is over and Will has a night's quiet in his cell, he ponders could-have-beens. If Alana hadn't recomended Hannibal, if Will had refused the evaluation and stayed in his classroom, if he never had encephalitis --
"I don't find you interesting," he told Hannibal, unknowingly eating Cassie Boyle's lungs, and the devel had smirked at him from across the table.
Once he is released, back home with his dogs and able to stand in the sun whenever he wants, playing cat and mouse with the Ripper and the FBI, he returns to pondering time and tea cups, regrets and wants.
Blood on his hands, in his mouth, body aching and soul at peace -- he stands in Hannibal's arms, head on the devil's shoulder, and as he tips them into the ocean, he pities the Will who never sat at Hannibal's table and understood the price of becoming and truly gloried in being alive.

Date: 2022-08-06 03:11 pm (UTC)He was going to die in this church. Alone, terrified. He was going to take his last breath in the darkness of this foreskin abandoned chapel. Castiel holds his breath and prays to his father, but all is silent. The holy heavens have abandoned him, and left him to wither away on this cold, winter night.
God could save him, but has chosen not to. His father is punishing him for choosing the Winchesters over his heavenly home. Castiel chose Sam and Dean, humanity, over heaven, and now all he could do was wait for death. There would be no happy ending, nor last minute rescue.
The angel of the lord would die with the suffering of his humanity.
He had been captured by a witch in need of his blood or a ritual, and once she had gotten it, she left him...cold and lying naked on the floor, his back bloody and raw from the violent whipping. Castiel had only ever known agonizing pain like this before, when he sacrificed his grace to help save Sam. Increased heart rate, faster breathing, then shortness of breath. He was so cold, he quivers as muscles burn like fire.
Shivering in the cold, Castiel hugs his knees close to his chest as his teeth cater. Blood seeps from his raw wounds. It's getting colder, he is aware that his body is quickly loosing heat. He is chilled and shivery, curling up tighter to hide from drafty areas of the frosty church. He rubs his arms, desperately trying to preserve heat. His vision is failing, black spots are dancing in his sight. This must be the end. He is thankful his death was quick... Only suddenly there is soothing heat within him, strong arms wrap him in a tight hug as a fluffy blanket cocoons him. “Sammy! I found him, he's in here!”
Dean? Could that be him? Castiel tries to focus, but he is so cold and exhausted. He wants to sleep. Very bad chills tremble him as he sinks into the arms that are so warm and soft. He wishes to stay here under piles of blankets.
“Dean, my god, he's freezing.”
His mind is fuzzy, but that was certainly Sam. Had the brothers come for him or was this all his imagination. Castiel violently shakes and shivers, teeth chattering so hard he is scared they’ll break. He begs for another blanket, please, he is so cold, and like his prayers have been answered, another downy blanket wraps around him.
He is more aware of his surrounds now that heat begins to flow through him. Sam and Dean were there, it was not his imagination. The brothers had saved him.
Dean pulls him close and hugs him, rubbing his arms to keep him warm, and there’s no comfort quite as pure as Dean wrapping a blanket around him as Sam hugs him as well. “You're safe now, cas.” Sam promises, hugging him tightly as if to graciously give him his body heat. “We are gonna get you home. I promise.”
Castiel smiles fondly, hugged by the Winchester brothers, his dear friends.

It was wonderful and made sense either way.
That's one of the reasons I love the anime so much. That, and My Evil Lord and Master, of course.
