Thursday: Hurt/Comfort
Aug. 4th, 2022 12:01 amHello, everyone. I’m
drabblewriter and today's theme is Hurt/Comfort. Prompts can be anything with someone being hurt (phsyically or emotionally!) and then comforted. <3
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Star Wars, any pilot, it's surprisingly upsetting to have their ship get significantly damaged
+ Star Wars, Wedge Antilles &/or Luke Skywalker, the only two survivors of the Death Star cling to each other
+ any, any &or/ any, "Stay with me in case I have nightmares."
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2022 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out the just created Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet. For more recent prompts to write, you can also use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2022-08-04 05:19 am (UTC)Line of Duty, Ted Hastings, Steve Arnott, Stay with me in case I have nightmares."
Date: 2022-08-04 09:06 pm (UTC)He glanced over at the faux leather upholstered contraption. It wouldn’t be the first night he spent there. It was serviceable if a tad short for his 180 plus centimeter frame. He got up, closing the slats in his blinds, but stopped when he noticed he wasn’t the only one in the office save the occasional janitor as they did their nightly cleaning routine. There was another figure there, camped out in front of his computer.
Frowning, he made his way out of his office.
“I thought you had left with Kate?” He asked softly, but making sure Steve was aware of his presence before speaking and letting his hand rest on Steve’s shoulder. Didn’t want to spook the poor lad. Not after tonight. He himself would be unpacking tonight’s events for a long time and despite having taken the life of a man tonight, he hadn’t been in Steve’s position, unarmed and approaching a desperate armed bent copper. He felt Steve’s shoulder twitch a bit in delayed surprise as it was, but it was only a little.
“No, was going to, but Mark called and I just told her to leave without me. Didn’t feel much like going home anyway,” Steve admitted softly. “Thought I would get a head start on this,” he gestured to an open form on his screen. His statement of what had gone down that evening.
He looked around the empty office. Debating for a brief moment the appropriateness of what he was about to offer and then deciding to hell with it. After the events of the evening… what is a little comfort offered from a senior officer to one of his best. “Come on son, I’ll give you a lift.”
Steve looked up at Ted, eyes growing slightly wide with panic as he remembered the condition of his apartment. It was a mess. It wasn’t even something Ted wouldn’t see- to get into his place, he would need help with the stairs. It wasn’t exactly handicapped compliant. He had looked into other lodging options but no way was he capable of a move at the moment.
“You don’t have to…honest…I’d rather not go home…don’treallywannabealonesir” he finished the sentence, mumbling, looking down, feeling his face flush with shame.
Ted’s hand remained on Steve’s shoulder. He should have moved it, immediately after letting it serve as a warning to his presence, but his hand betrayed him, tightening gently in sympathy. He knew that feeling all too well. He didn’t want to be alone tonight either.
“There’s a couch in my office, it’d be about the right size for you.”
“What about you sir” Steve asked as he followed Ted back to his office.
“I’ve taken a couple naps in that chair of mine, don’t be spreading that round now.” Ted said with a weak attempt at a grin.
Steve examined the couch. While it was a bit short for his Gaffer, the couch was rather deep.
“We’d both fit sir, you as the big spoon and all. Might not be bad. It’d help keep the nightmares at bay.” He suggested, face still that lovely shade of embarrassed red.
Ted stared at Steve. How was he supposed to respond to that? Honestly, it sounded like the best idea he’d heard in ages. Going to sleep with his arms wrapped around another person’s familiar body. Comfort given and received. Far better than the pillow he often found himself wrapped around, trying desperately to eke out the same comfort from a polyester fiber filled pillow that couldn’t hold onto him back.
Again an inner battle about the appropriateness of it all…it was wrong…he was the senior officer, he couldn’t possibly accept…but he found himself locking the office door and re-checking the blind’s slats. He looked around for the small blanket, but not finding it he reached over and grabbed his jacket to pull over them as a blanket.
He laid on the couch and pushed as far against the back as he could and motioned for Steve to join him.
All shades of inappropriate, but they both needed this tonight.

Date: 2022-08-04 05:19 am (UTC)Fill: Split, the beast/casey, past abuse
Date: 2023-08-06 12:59 pm (UTC)Her scars are beautiful. Faded white and etched upon her soft skin, they are a symbol of her strength and her power. Her fierce grace. Casey is not a victim; she is a survivor. She has endured traumatic experiences and is stronger now, and he bows to her, feeling her fingertips brushing through his hair.
He can not change her dark past, she was abused by her uncle long ago, but the Beast can make a wonderful future with his beauty and protect her to make sure no man ever harms her.
If he has his way, and as a powerful creature he reigns, sadness will never hold a place in her kind heart. Only a joyful heaven of happy days. If the Beast could, he would not allow her out of the soft bed, he would spend endless days cuddling Casey. But he wants her to enjoy her friends, so he lets her go because Casey always returns to him. He cares dearly for her, he wants to make her smile, so he never has to see her cry. He wishes for her to never endure the feelings of emptiness and despair tangled in her heart.
The Beast tucks the bed sheets tighter around her gorgeous body. White scars etch her body from a time before he knew her, when she was not under his protective care. He snarls with his razor-sharp fangs, enraged that he wasn’t there to protect her from her perverted uncle. She has endured heartbreaking sorrow at the hand of that wicked man, and even though she was harmed, like a phoenix she rose from the fire, stronger and braver. The Beast leans down to kiss her scars, every painful stitch and tattered white line.
Casey is pure and lovely, and the Beast snarls, making a promise that she will never again know sorrow.
♥ END ♥
