Paint Colours Monday
Aug. 29th, 2022 07:24 pmAhoy-hoy, lowly mortals, and behold your new god Mr. Burns
classics_lover. Today's theme is Paint Colour Names. You know the drill, find some weirdly specific paint colour names and base your prompt off it. Hopefully it will inspire a plethora of colourful fics.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Dragon Age, author's choice, Wooded Solace (Dulux)
+ Tortall, author's choice, Mucky Swan (Colortrend)
+ Q-Force, Stat/Jaclyn Box, Honeymoon Hiking (Curator Paints)
We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.
While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Date: 2022-09-01 11:20 pm (UTC)"But I want to go!"
It wasn't as if her parents had put their foot down. Claudia had gone in ready to debate, rehearsing her arguments like an actress practicing her lines. Sooner or later she was going to take this kind of class, so why keep pushing it off? Ashley had recommended it. Didn't her parents really like her? Why doubt her now? Claudia had already seen stuff like this in school - in both her art and health classes. Her parents certainly hadn't debated signing the permission slip for the latter!
All that forethought had done was prepare Claudia for a fight that never came. No questions, no concerns, just a shared look was all it took to get a "Yes".
If her own parents thought her mature enough to do this, then why should Claudia hold herself back?
"All right," Ashley said, pushing her hair back. "But if it gets too weird, don't feel like you have to stay."
Claudia swallowed a groan. How did Ashley expect her to make anything like her own sketches if Claudia ran off? Ashley's drawings weren't the sort of thing one hid under their mattress. She brought a warmth to each figure, an individuality that went beyond an assortment of features and a change in mediums. Looking at her drawings was like getting a glimpse into another person's soul - all one had to do was look to the flesh.
What was art, after all, if not a chance to shine a light on what otherwise went unseen?
Claudia smirked. "I'm starting to think that you just want to hurry up and get ice cream!"
While Claudia would be the first to sing Sullivan Sweet's praises, her cookie dough bonanza Sundae would just have to wait.

Date: 2022-08-29 10:08 pm (UTC)FILL: Snowpiercer, Edgar/Curtis
Date: 2022-11-12 03:28 pm (UTC)The train rattles almost loudly, his own whisper lost in the night. He cannot sleep…From the heavy clank of the steel metal vibrating as the train rattles down the track, to the howling wind hushed into a low whisper from outside, the noise of the train seems ear splitting on this night.
He rolls over once more and made contact with Curtis who was awake, although his eyes were closed and his body was as relaxed as could be when two men were cramped into a snug space, his breathing was slow and deep.
“What’s wrong?” Curtis’ voice is barely a whisper, but Edgar hears it all the same. He’s spent so many years by Curtis’ side, knowing the growls Curtis makes when he is anger and the fond chuckles when Edgar makes a stupid joke; Edgar could pin his voice in the wailing screams as clear as day.
Soft hand wrapped around Edgar’s waist, pulling him in closer. Edgar rests his head on Curtis’ chest, calming slightly as Curtis’ fingers brush through his hair.
“Too damn noisy tonight.” Even after seventeen years on the train, very accustom to the boisterous sound like the hug of a friend, Edgar groaned irritably as he whispers, “Can’t sleep.”
“Close your eyes, and think of something nice.” Curtis kissed Edgar slowly, his own hushed breathing sounding like a careless whisper as their tongues inter-mingled. When he pulls away from the kiss, Edgar steals just one more, always so greedy for affection, before he smiles fondly when Curtis kisses his forehead softly.
Edgar snuggles into Curtis arms and closes his eyes, thinking about the day when they will stand on the beach, barefoot and smiling as the bright sun shines down on them and warms them, and this hell they call home is nothing more than a forgotten terrible nightmare.
