Hello, everyone. I’m [livejournal.com profile] drabblewriter and today's theme is Musicals. Prompts can be anything related to musical theater - musical theatre fandoms, theatre AUs, characters seeing shows, etc!

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ any; any &or/ any; they don't really "get" musicals, but they go to them because their loved one likes them
+ Star Wars, any, Broadway AU
+ Six the Musical, ensemble, the first time all six of the queens sang together

We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2022 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.

While the use of LJ's advanced search options is available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.

What was the point of this again?

One act in and Richard couldn't have differentiated one character from another if someone pressed a gun to his temple. If there was a plot to this little spectacle, then it was elusive as a fox, always jumping out of his reach just when Richard thought he finally had an idea of what was going on. Whatever bits of story he happened to catch were quickly swallowed by another wave of ballads.

Why was everybody singing again? For all the trappings of normality the show seemingly had - as much as they blurred together, every character on stage looked like someone he might pass on the street - he couldn't begin to wrap his head around what might cause someone to burst out in song. Imagine doing so in the office or grocery store! Just the idea of doing as much made him want to melt into a puddle on the floor.

Richard's eyes darted from the stage to the two seats to his right. If Mary Anne grinned any wider then she'd tear her cheeks. Her eyes probably hadn't left the stage since they'd first sat down. Dawn was leaning forward in her seat, her face shifting with each passing scene. It was a show unto itself.

Richard leaned back in his chair. If nothing else, their smiles were contagious.

Line of Duty, Ted Hastings/Steve Arnott "Nobody breaks out into song in real life." (couldn't post the other day when I picked this prompt up, better late than never, eh? :P)

"No one you know!"

“Nobody breaks out into song in real life, Sir. They just don’t.”

Ted grinned down at Steve, who was nestled tightly under his arm as they sat on the couch. It was the weekend. Yesterday, they had moved Ted out of the hotel and into Steve’s place. Despite the lure of the hotel’s incredible shower, Ted wanted out of the place. They did, however, make sure to have a little more fun there before checking out.

Boxes and luggage still cluttered the floor, but putting things away had been halted after bringing it all in. Exhausted from the earlier exploits that morning, an afternoon of rest was just what was needed. Ted had chosen to watch an airing of The Pirates of Penzance- attempting to broaden the wee lad’s viewing habits. Sports had their place, but really…it seemed that was all he watched. And forget about the sheer, utter wrongness of the teams Steve seemed to support. Bloody Northhampton Saints…Clearly, the only proper team deserving support was the London Irish…

“No?”

“No. They don’t.”

“Sure of that now, are you?”

Steve doubled down on his position, he’d rather be watching the game, not some musical he had never heard of. Pirates were not his thing, but he couldn’t help but shiver slightly when his Gaffer when leaned in closer, his right-hand keeping time with the song, tapping against Steve’s hip, voice pitched low, joining in on a verse, almost whisper-singing directly into Steve’s ear…

“When I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery--
In short, when I've a smattering of elemental strategy
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee
For my military knowledge, though I'm plucky and adventury
Has only been brought down to the beginning of the century
But still, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral
I am the very model of a modern Major-General”

The reactions he observed in Steve inspired him to nip at his earlobe after the last line of the song…maybe they hadn’t worn themselves out this morning after all…
