Date: 2022-09-23 04:41 pm (UTC)There is a little chill that makes his cheeks flush rosy red and a shiver that causes him to tighten his coat to stay warm. The coffee shop is still as busy in autumn as it was in summer, but now the windows are slightly foggy from the dewdrop kisses of the frost in the air.
Before autumn came to town like a long lost friend, his choice of coffee was plain and simple—Black with one scoop of sugar. Now, as the pumpkin flavored aroma tickles his nose, he gets this sort of cozy vibe within his heart and he just feels so good, like all the pain and suffering, and anger and sadness that had seeped into his bones and weighed him down has vanished with that one sip of pumpkin spice. He stands a little taller as his soul is light, and smiles a little more as his heart is pure. The cookie shop next door is busy as well, rows and rows of yummy treats made of cinnamon sugar and spice and everything nice.
Work is still busy, bad guys to catch and crime’s to solve, and yet at the end of the day when he would normally walk with his head down and shoulders slumped, feeling exhausted and drained, not pausing to take in his surroundings, Malcom pauses now.
He just stands there under the beautiful pink and yellow sky with the dazzling setting sun, the crunchy leaves under his boot that are no longer green but orange and red, smiling as a jogger passes him by with her dog dressed in a dinosaur Halloween costume.
A squirrel with a busy tail in a tree above him chitters happily while feasting on an acorn as a group of children laughing to their heart’s delight rush past him to the pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin to carve with a smiley face.
“May the peace you’re looking for, find you.”
That little quote suddenly comes to his mind as this pure feeling of peace and happiness washes over him, and for what felt like a lifetime, he smiles blissfully as it’ finally autumn.
