Medical Monday
Jan. 16th, 2023 01:46 amHi, everyone! A new week means new prompts! I'm
templefugate, your host for the week. Today's theme is medical - i.e., anything having to do with medicine, from treatment to practice. Something tells me that we'll be seeing a lot of angst!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The X-Files, Dana Scully, unexpected times where her medical training comes in handy
+ DC, John Constantine, his lung cancer relapses
+ Any, any, iatrophobia
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2023 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Date: 2023-01-18 12:31 am (UTC)Fill, Stargate: SG-1, Daniel Jackson
Date: 2023-07-18 11:37 pm (UTC)Daniel's left elbow starts aching the day before a thunderstorm some time after his thirty-seventh birthday, and he has no idea why.
He has no doubt the answer's somewhere in his medical records, if he wanted to look them up. They've probably got them cross-referenced by body part, by this point, for easy reference. Probably one of the doctors or nurses could even guess it offhand.
Maybe he landed wrong after getting zatted one time; or impact damage from a blunt instrument from someone trying to knock his brains out; or maybe nerve damage from a stab wound or a slash or a case of torture gone wrong (or right, he supposes, from the torturers' points of view).
He's pretty sure it's not a bullet wound. Daniel's spent the last decade or so getting hurt, but even he remembers every single time he's been shot (twice), and none of them would have caused nerve or muscle damage to his left arm.
It's not bothersome enough, anyway, that he can't handle it or that Jack notices it particularly, and short of one of those he doesn't have the time to spare to go see Dr. Frasier. It's just a little pain every once in a while--and how often does Colorado Springs see thunderstorms, anyway? So he sucks it up, packs some advil in his work bag when he sees storm clouds on the weather report, and works past it when it comes.
He does wonder, sometimes, how many more injuries he's going to forget about before he's done--or how many new wounds are yet to come--but never lingers on it long. He can do about as much to stop them coming as he can stop his elbow hurting, so what's the point? He'll pop more advil and work through those, too, when he has to, for as long as he can.
