Weather Tuesday
Jan. 17th, 2023 12:47 amHappy Tuesday, everyone! It's
templefugate, your host with the most. Today's forecast is cloudy with a chance of writing prompts. In honor of today's weather-based theme, prompts can have anything to do with storms, sunshine, and everything in between.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ MCU, any, caught in a blizzard
+ The Owl House, any, caught in a rainstorm
+ Any, any, a stormy mood
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2023 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Date: 2023-01-17 04:18 pm (UTC)Line of Duty, Ted Hastings, Steve Arnott
Date: 2023-01-17 09:30 pm (UTC)He wondered if this was when he had gone over the line and Ted wouldn’t have his back. His mood and stomach soured at the thought.
He hadn’t slept with Lindsey Denton, but he knew what it looked like, knew what the recording she had threatened to play earlier must sound like. They had gotten close but mutually backed away. No matter, though, given his reputation, he knew what people, and obviously now, even Ted, would choose to believe. And that was the worst of it, what Ted must be thinking of him. He frowned, his fingers slamming harder on the keyboard in front of him. The door to his Gaffer’s office flew open, banging against the wall.
“Arnott. Now.”
He didn’t hesitate, up and practically running to the office at the summons. He closed the door behind him, careful not to slam it. He wasn’t sure how much more the glass in the door or office would withstand. Be just his luck to cause them to shatter, and if he thought he was in trouble now…
“Remain standing.”
“Sir.” He came to attention, just as taught at Hendon, back when he was in uniform.
Ted was seated behind the desk, hands together, fingers steepled, fingertips pressed together so hard, they were turning his white under the nails. Steve could see the tension radiating off his Gaffer. His blue eyes were dark and stormy. He was furious.
“I am going to ask you one more time, and you best tell me the God’s honest truth, Arnott, not what you think I want to hear. Not what will potentially salvage your career. Did. You. Sleep. With. Denton?”
Each word of the question was laced with fury, and he referred to him as ‘Arnott.’ Another clue that he was not in good standing with his Gaffer.
“No sir, I did not.”
Ted’s eyes did not leave his. Staring, searching…but after a few moments, he looked away, hands coming to rest flat on his desk, having obviously found what he sought. He let out a sigh of relief.
“Christ, son. It would be both our necks on this one if ya had. I, personally, assured the DCC AND the CC that you had not.”
“Thank you, Sir.” He was still standing at attention, but his stomach was no longer roiling with fear.
Ted nodded. “Good lad, on ya go.” He tilted his head to the door, indicating Steve was dismissed.
His Gaffer still had his back.

Date: 2023-01-20 06:23 pm (UTC)Ted smiled at his efforts, although he chose to forgo the pillows, sitting, so he rested his back against the sofa. The colder wet weather was doing a number on his leg; he knew it must have been aggravating Steve’s back something fierce. His long legs rested next to the blanket with the lunch spread on it; A plate of rolled-up cold cuts with bowls of cubed cheese, pickles, grapes, slices of apples, and the like.
“Come here,” Ted reached up and grabbed Steve’s hand as he returned to the room carrying a bottle of lager and a pint of Ted’s favorite whiskey, carefully pulling him down to settle on the floor between his legs. His warm body pressed flush against Steve’s back.
“That’s better, fella. Looks delicious, here,” Ted said as he placed the drinks on the blanket. He grabbed a cube of cheese from one of the bowls, holding it to Steve’s lips. Steve grinned as he gingerly took the cheese from his fingers with his teeth, tucking in his cheek, his tongue darting out to lap the fingers still in front of his lips.
“Hmmmm, really now?” Ted nuzzled his nose against the back of Steve’s ear, reaching for a roll of the cold cuts, bringing one to his mouth, taking a bite, and offering the rest to Steve.
Again, similar treatment to his fingers, but this time with a gentle nip to the retreating digits. Ted couldn’t restrain his low moan at the gesture.
“Good thing we are having this picnic here, not at the park. It wouldn’t do for the head of AC-12 and his best DCI to get arrested on outrage to public decency charges, and we most certainly would if you keep that up, mhuirnin,” Ted whispered against Steve’s neck.
Then he proceeded to do positively ‘illegal things’ with his own tongue on Steve's neck, given they were in the privacy of their own home.
