Hello, everyone. I’m
nagi_schwarz and today's theme is song titles! Prompts can be titles of any song.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The Sandman, Morpheus + Daniel Hall, The Dreaming (Monsta X)
+ BBC Sherlock, Sherlock Holmes + any, Case 143 (Stray Kids)
+ Any vampire or werewolf fandom (or AU), any, Bite Me (TXT)
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2023 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the use of LJ's advanced search options is available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.

Date: 2023-07-19 02:33 am (UTC)Summary: Morpheus has a moment to spend with Daniel now that he’s been recovered from his kidnapping.
Matthew looked on from the back of Dream’s throne. In the back of Morpheus’s mind was the idea he should shoo the raven away. The newly remade Corinthian lurked in the shadows, watching, hoping not to be noticed. Dream decided to allow it. They were curious and they had been the ones to find Daniel after Loki and Puck had kidnapped the boy. They had brought him back to Dream and the Dreaming. He could indulge them.
The boy sat on the floor, staring up at the ceiling, watching bits of the Dreaming floating by. The butterflies from a child’s dream in the tropics fluttered in one window and circled Daniel’s head. He cried out in glee, reaching for them. They dissipated like smoke. Morpheus quit his throne, walking toward the door. He beckoned to Daniel and the boy followed him.
“You like it here, do you not?” Morpheus asked.
“Uh-huh. Pretty!” Daniel pointed to the night sky just beyond the door.
Morpheus paused, canting his face upward. It’d been so long since he’d seen his realm with new eyes. Had he ever seen it that way? It wasn’t in his memories. That was the problem with being Endless. Life was so very long. The closest he’d come to seeing the Dreaming anew was standing before his castle with Lucien surveying the ruin wrought by his long incarceration at Burgess’s hand.
Above them, the pale silvery moon shone. Somewhere waves hit the beach, the sound percolating around them. Morpheus extended his hand up pulling moonlight like taffy. He formed it into a ghostly cat and handed it to Daniel.
“I control dreams. It is a dreadful power. It can reduce men to tears. It can bring solace to an old woman close to death. It is both and neither all at the same time. I have made all you see before you.”
Daniel stroked the moon-cat. He smiled at Morpheus but said nothing.
Morpheus sighed. “You are too young to understand You have no idea the power that will one day be yours. It is why you were kidnapped. I am sorry for that.”
Daniel scowled briefly but it faded as the moon-cat leaned into him. Had Loki and Puck frightened him? Yes, of course he was. Kidnapping is a terrifying event. He’s a child and they are awful.
Morpheus extended a hand to Daniel. “Come along. Lucien and Matthew can help find you a bed. You will have the best dreams tonight. Nothing scary.”
Daniel looked up at him. “Can I see Goldie?”
Morpheus almost smiled. “I’ll have Abel bring her.”
Daniel pumped his hands in the air. “Yay.”
Morpheus wished it would be so easy to make himself so happy. This was the downside of so much power. This is what he’d eventually condemn this boy to. The least he could do was keep the nightmares away until then. Soon enough Daniel would learn to craft ones of his own.

Date: 2023-07-22 05:34 pm (UTC)“How can you know that?” John asked. “Do you number every single case? And have you really had more than 150 cases?”
“John, why should I number all my cases? And if I did, do you really think I would do anything so mundane as to work in strict order?”
“Well, I suppose not. And would you number them at the point at which you received them, or when you solved them?”
“In fact this was a case I solved within one week, annoyed Anderson four times and received three urgent phone calls from Lestrade.”
“But that’s amazing.”
“Also, highly implausible. That was the case which began with the body on the bus. The number 143 London Transport bus to Brent Cross.”

Date: 2023-07-18 11:24 am (UTC)The werewolf glared at him, drooling slightly, tugging at his lead.
Adam called out, “Tariq, help me!” He and Tariq exchanged a glance, they had their suspicions that this particular group might know more about the ‘large dog’ than they were prepared to say.
But before Tariq could get there, the werewolf had pulled away and run after the man, who once more held out his arm. The werewolf opened his jaws.
Adam’s heart dropped. If the werewolf bit him that would destroy everything.
The werewolf drooled saliva copiously all over the man’s arm, took a step back and seemed to grin at him. His mates laughed at the man’s expression as the werewolf trotting back to Adam and Tariq, one eyebrow raised.

“True, but if we establish ourselves as travelling workman we can stay as long as there’s work and then move on. We shall no longer feel trapped where we are.”
“And we can be together. People needn’t know how close we really are, there are many who travel with friends. That’s the freedom I want.”
Guy pulled Much close and whispered, “Me too.”

Date: 2023-07-18 09:45 am (UTC)Fill: Chuck Campbell + Miko Kusanagi + Carson Beckett
Date: 2023-07-18 09:11 pm (UTC)Walter Harriman had said it was an important job, even if it lacked excitement most of the time. And he’d know. He’d worked as the Gate tech for the SGC for more years than Chuck could count.
Occasionally, the excitement came right to the Gate room. Hostile incursions. Energy creatures.
Sabotage.
The room was full of acrid smoke, which made it hard to see, and a buzz of noise that Chuck couldn’t quite hear over the ringing in his ears. He coughed, every desperate hack sending sharp fingers of pain through his lower back. He was disoriented – was he on the floor? He couldn’t remember what had happened.
He was pinned down by something.
And then suddenly someone was there with him, holding his hand. Chuck tried to blink the smoke out of his eyes.
“Miko?” he croaked, which led to another bout of painful coughing.
She put something over his nose, and clean, sweet oxygen was suddenly there for him to breathe. An oxygen mask. She was wearing one, too, which obscured the bottom half of her face; there was no mistaking the oversized glasses.
“Help is coming,” she said, her voice muffled but still audible.
“What…?”
“An explosion. We do not know who has done this.”
The oxygen was helping clear Chuck’s head. He could tell now that he was on the floor, partially on his side, his view of his own body blocked by the chunk of metal that was pinning him in place.
The background buzz resolved itself into Sheppard shouting directions for shifting debris, presumably to the Marines, and McKay organizing the science nerds who were checking the integrity of the Gate. Intermittent calls were also going out for medical assistance.
“Every… one. Okay?”
“I do not know,” Miko said, but she looked away from him when she said it.
Chuck tried to remember who he’d been on shift with. Who’d been in the Gate room. But his mind was a frustrating blank.
“Sergeant. You’re in a right state, lad.”
Dr. Beckett squatted down so he was in Chuck’s eyeline. His tone was light, but his face was lined with worry.
“Back hurts.”
“Aye, I’m sure it does. Let me just take a quick peek.”
Chuck thought of all the things that could be wrong. Spine crushed. Legs broken. Irreparable internal damage.
Miko squeezed his hand, and he squeezed back, grateful she was there.
“Colonel!” Dr. Beckett called out. “The sooner we can lift this off Sergeant Campbell, the better.”
He popped back around where Chuck could see him.
“How bad, Doc?”
“We’ll have you right as rain in no time, laddie.” Dr. Beckett patted him on the shoulder. “I’m afraid there’ll be a bit of pain first, so I’m going to give you something to take the edge off.”
He went to check on the other injured, and then returned when the Marines arrived to shift the debris off Chuck, who got a shot of something first that quickly made everything feel a whole lot less important.
The Marines lifted, Dr. Beckett and Miko pulled, and Chuck was free. Chuck could feel pain trying to roar in, but it wasn’t able to break through whatever he’d been injected with.
He was loaded up on a gurney, and that’s when he got his first real look at what had happened.
“Whoa.”
The second-floor balcony, where all the operational consoles were housed, had been partially sheared off by the force of the explosion. The stairs had been partially damaged as well. Why would anyone do that?
“Does Rodney need you, lass?” Dr. Beckett asked Miko.
She shook her head and kept tight hold of Chuck’s hand. “I will stay as long as Sergeant Campbell needs me.”
Chuck didn’t know what he’d done to earn Miko’s care, but he was incredibly thankful for it. He tried to tell her so, but the stress and meds were pulling him under. He clung to her hand like a lifeline.
“Thanks,” he managed to say before he slipped away.
When he woke up in the infirmary an indeterminable amount of time later, sore and weak and his mouth filled with cotton, Miko was still there.
Holding his hand.

Date: 2023-07-18 03:09 pm (UTC)David veered left, taking cover behind what looked very much like a pourouma mollis. It would shield them pretty well, but it wouldn’t stop bullets. Not that the locals had bullets.
So far.
“I wasn’t planning on us being — being renegades,” David panted, clutching the plant sample to his chest.
He was pretty sure this was it, the miracle healing plant that both Satedan and Athosian legends spoke of. So far it fit the description, with green-gold leaves and rainbow colors twining up the stem of the little seedling.
“Running away from angry aliens is a Sheppard and McKay thing,” David added.
He was pretty sure Lorne wasn’t actually listening, as Lorne was pressed against a tree, pistol in hand, peering out in the direction they’d just come from.
Shouts sounded in the undergrowth.
David didn’t really need Lorne to listen, though. He just tended to babble when he was nervous. Or scared. Or bored.
Lorne was great. Lorne let him talk it out. Once they were off duty, were back in their quarters, were Evan and David instead of Lorne and Parrish, then he’d really listen. But for now —
“Let’s get to the gate,” Lorne said. “Weir will be pissed that we ticked off the natives by taking one of their plants. We should try to negotiate or apologize at the gate, assuming they don’t just try to kill us. Otherwise, you go through first.”
David nodded. “Apology, negotiate, escape. In that order.”
“Correct. Now — run!”
It should have been a simple mission, simple enough that David and Lorne could roam on their own, David looking for plant samples, the rest of their team doing recon.
The golden leaves — literally golden, not just a vague color approximation but an almost metallic sheen to them as well — had been a dead giveaway.
David had dug it up very carefully, preserving its roots.
And then the natives had appeared from seemingly out of nowhere, all bare chests and gleaming swords and angry shouts.
And wildly-colored hair, come to think of it. Pink and blue and purple and white, but not like old-people white. Like fairy tale frost king kind of white.
David had done what any rational person would do when faced with hordes of people with swords. He’d run.
As they ran, Lorne radioed Walker and Stevens at the gate, telling them to dial it up, they were coming in hot.
David was impressed that Lorne could run and talk at the same time, but that was a vital military skill.
David ran, clutching the plant to his chest. He had to duck and dodge around branches and vines. And — finally. The clearing at the gate.
He dashed toward it full-tilt. Blessedly, the event horizon was already shimmering. Stevens and Walker were both in ready position, rifles shouldered.
Stevens swore when he saw who was chasing David and Lorne.
Men and women alike, shirtless, carrying swords and spears and other more arcane weapons.
It was Lorne who stepped in front of David, hands raised in a placating gesture.
“Listen, I think there’s been some kind of misunderstanding,” he said, calm and even.
“You ran.” The man at the front had a couple of inches on Lorne and a whole lot more in the way of muscles.

Date: 2023-07-18 12:46 pm (UTC)FILL!
Date: 2023-12-02 07:20 pm (UTC)His boyfriend is sleeping, partly due to exhaustion and heavy medication. Another breath punches out of him as he sees Buck's broken leg encased in a cast.
Eddie's heart kicks sharply, and the force of it knocked the air out of him to make him feel breathless. He almost lost Buck tonight; the bomber nearly took the life of the man he loves more than life itself. Life was so fragile…any moment could be there last.
He quickly begins to leave the room, he wanted Buck to get some much-needed rest, but a soft groan stops him, and he sees Buck trying to sit up and struggling with his busted leg.
Eddie braced his hands on Buck’s chest to ease him down, and Buck settles, easy to lay down knowing Eddie was close by. Still woozy from the pain and medication, Buck sluggishly pulls Eddie to him. Eddie climbs into bed with Buck, hugging Buck to his chest.
The hospital bed is much too small for two grown men, but they make it work. It is so much like Eddie to calm Buck as he is laying in a hospital bed with cuts and bruises, a wounded hero. Eddie's hugs were enough to chase away the worry and fear, Eddie arms wrapped around Buck like a cozy blanket. He closes his eyes as he’s embraced in Eddie's arms.
Eddie holds his boyfriend tightly for fear that if he lets Buck go he will vanish away from Eddie's heart.
“I love you,” Buck slurs sleepily, closing his eyes as he drifts off to dreams with his head on Eddie's chest, fully relaxing now that he was swaddled in Eddie’s arms.
Eddie presses a kiss to Buck's forehead, before following him into the realm of sweet dreams, cradling Buck in his arms as he sleeps blissfully.

Date: 2023-07-18 12:56 pm (UTC)Fill: Dream High, Jason + Song Samdong
Date: 2023-07-18 07:45 pm (UTC)Jason glanced over at him, startled out of sending a text message to Pilsook.
Samdong had been sitting so quietly that Jason had almost forgotten he was there.
“Good thing you’re Korean. It rains all the time in Korea.” Jason looked back down at his phone.
Being away from Pilsook was no fun, but where Jason had done most of his schooling in America, he was the best choice to help Samdong get settled into his new life: new school, new record company, new apartment.
Samdong rested his head against the glass and closed his eyes. “I used to hate the sound of the rain before. When I was a kid it meant I couldn’t go out to play. As I got older it meant — trouble. If not flooding, then a leaking roof or — something.”
He was smiling.
He was, Jason noticed, clutching that tuning fork in his hand. Where Pilsook had absolute pitch, Samdong had perfect relative pitch. As long as he could imagine one note, he could pitch his voice accordingly and sing even if he couldn’t hear.
And sometimes he couldn’t hear.
“When my ears are ringing, I can’t hear anything else — but the sound of the rain is so soothing.”
Jason was probably the least emotionally stunted out of everyone on the team, though given how Jin Gook was like a brick wall, they probably wasn’t saying much.
Samdong was naively honest about a lot of things, but he was still guarded about his emotions. Jason couldn’t really blame him.
Even now, Samdong was probably wondering whether he should have given up a chance at a relationship with Hyemi to pursue his dream of being a singer.
Jason was lucky that he had both Pilsook and music in his life.
Was his presence rubbing salt in Samdong’s wounds?
“The sound of the rain makes me feel less alone,” Samdong said.
Jason swatted him. “Hey, I’m right here.” He pocketed his phone and stood. “Come on.”
Samdong opened his eyes. His gaze was dark and melancholy.
Jason held out a hand. “We’re in LA. You have to come get spicy tacos with me. You’re not really from LA till you’ve tried all the good food. Gotta get started now. Come on.”
Samdong blinked, but he allowed Jason to help him to his feet. “It’s raining.”
“And I have an umbrella. Let’s go.”
Samdong nodded and followed Jason to the door.
He was still clutching the tuning fork Hyemi had given him even though Jason hadn’t said anything about them going singing. One day he’d be willing to leave it behind.
Till then, there was spicy tacos.

“As we all did. It wasn’t your fault, none of us spotted what he was planning on doing.”
“Harry will think I deliberately let him go.”
“Harry knows these things happen. He’s miffed but he won’t lose any sleep over it.”
“He’ll look at me and wonder how loyal I am. If it’s all right, I’ll go home now.”
“Of course. We’ll be going for a drink shortly, why don’t you join us?”
“Thank you, but no.”
Ros watched sadly as Lucas departed. She could see he was still finding it hard to adapt to being back on the Grid and accept that he was very much part of the team. She decided to phone Adam and ask him to speak to Lucas.

Date: 2023-07-18 01:00 pm (UTC)Filled! SGA - Markham/Stackhouse + Caldwell/Weir - PG13 (I'll apologize in advance)
Date: 2023-07-18 09:21 pm (UTC)Today was no different. After the long trip from Earth, he gave his crew a few days R&R and spent as much time with Elizabeth as she would give him. Early in the city's life, they'd managed fleeting moments together. But now, with the situation in Pegasus much calmer without the threat of Wraith, he'd managed an entire evening with her.
After a leisurely morning lie-in with Elizabeth, Steven left her quarters with a smile on his face. He walked to the Control room and overheard Sheppard having an animated conversation with two Marines, not paying attention - at first. He could hear the conversation before he could see them because they were that loud. He stopped and watched the conversation from a subtle distance.
"Look, guys. I'm really sorry," Sheppard said, "but Stacks, I need you to accompany Zelenka to M7G-677 and make sure that their shield is holding. And Markham," he added, "I need you to lead the team taking Ronon back to Sateda to search for some plans in their weapons development labs."
"Aww, dammit," came one whiney reply. "So he gets to go follow Hottie McLeatherpants all over Sateda, and I have to be surrounded by ankle-biters? For a week?"
"They're not all kids anymore, Stacks," John replied.
The second man replied, "Yeah, sweetheart."
Sweetheart? That took Caldwell by surprise. But Atlantis was exempted from the US military regulations. Even so, he wasn't used to those in the military being so open.
"When you get there, check out Keras. He's the main dude. Really pretty eyes," the second voice continued.
Sheppard shook his head. "Keras is happily... Well, whatever they call married on that planet. So be nice, Stacks."
"Why?"
The fact that the reply came from each man in perfect stereo was far more amusing than it should have been. But he truly didn't expect Sheppard's reply of, "Good god, you two suck."
"And I swallow," came a quick reply.
Sheppard stumble-stepped, shook his head, and then turned. He caught Steven's gaze, glanced back at the two Marines, then slowly began to leave the control room. "Colonel," he said with a quick salute.
"Colonel," Steven replied. He couldn't help the smirk.
Sheppard once again glanced back, a nervous look on his face.
To help ease Sheppard's nerves, Steven laughed. "Those two remind me of a couple under my command," he said. The unspoken 'It's all good' seemed to be conveyed as Sheppard's face relaxed.
"Can I be under him?" one of the two Marines asked.
That was obviously not supposed to be spoken as loud as it was, and it was Steven's turn to stumble-step. He righted himself, then walked past the two. "Sergeants," he said with a smile.
"Colonel," the men said in unison, their salute crisp.
And Steven pretended not to hear the "Zaddy" compliment that followed.
