cozy_coffee and today's theme is Titles! Movie titles, book titles, fanfic titles, song titles, poem titles…it it’s a title of something, allow it to be your muse.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.

It happened suddenly. One moment everything was fine and dandy and the next his baby brother was hurt. Sammy was playing on the monkey bars, skillfully swinging from one to the other, when he lost his grip and took a tumble down to the wood chips below. He grits out a whimper that nearly breaks Dean’s chest.

Dean was close by, but not enough to stop Sammy from falling. His head jerks up, green eyes widening when he saw red blood smeared across Sammy's knee. Sam is already rising to his feet, his brow furrows as he stands on unsteady legs and falls, landing in a heap on the rough wood chips. Sam’s body shuddered as the pain in his knee throbbed.

He is not a crybaby, but the skin is raw and the wound hurts; he sniffles, bottom lip quivering, the big crocodile tears are trying to tumble down his cheeks, but he quickly brushes them away.

He is a big boy, like his brother. He is not going to cry. Only he does. The tears streak down his face as he holds his injured leg, his babyish face gazing sadly at his scraped knee. Dean jumps off the swing in a heartbeat, running across the playground and throwing himself onto the ground next to Sam. He dirtied his jeans, but that doesn’t matter. Sammy is hurt. His brother needs him.

Scooping his sibling up into his arms, Dean rushes back into the motel across the street. Sammy's got that puppy-dog look on his cute face, and he won’t let go of Dean’s shirt when he tries to set him on the bed, so Dean gently pulls Sam's fingers free of his faded batman hand-me-down shirt.

“It’s okay, Sammy,” Dean promises, gently brushing a kiss to his brother’s forehead. He reaches out with one hand and gently strokes Sam’s hair out of his eyes while the little boy sniffles softly and looks up at him with big, sad damp puppy dog eyes. “Just sit here, I'll get the first aid box.”

“It hurts, Dee.” Sammy sniffled, breaking Dean's heart. The cuts on his knee sting; just looking at the wound makes Dean winces. “I know buddy. Just sit tight; I’m going to patch you up and you'll be good as new.” Dean assures, leaning down to press a kiss to Sam’s forehead.

The first aid kit is stocked with all the tools Dean needed. Rubbing alcohol, gauze, ointment; Dean has all the tools to patch up his brother. Sammy is a big brave boy; he chews on his bottom lip, only whining once when Dean rubbed the medication on his sore knee.

“How are you holdin’ up, Sammy?” Dean inquires as he tends to a few nasty scratches that are bleeding. The bright ruby blood on his skin is smearing down his knee, but Sammy doesn't cry. Sammy is hurt. Sammy is bleeding. Sammy needs him.

Sammy puts on a brave face. Dean dabs at the wound, gently as he can, and Sam hisses, it stings like a bitch damn it, and grits his teeth, but he is a trooper and endures the hurt and doesn’t make a fuss as his big brother patches him up. With a batman bandaged in place, Sammy smiles and hugged Dean tightly, declaring “You’re the best big brother in the whole wide world!”

Dean hugs Sam, grinning. It is his job to keep Sammy safe, dad said so, and that is not a responsibility he takes lightly.

(AU mid-season 1)
(originally, i was gonna try tying multiple prompts together but it just wasn't working out. :( and there is also so much more to this little AU trying to peek out, so we'll see)

"Until next time, Dr. Lecter," Will says, eyes meeting Hannibal's for the briefest moment before glancing away. He shoves his glasses up his nose, shuffles out the door and towards his vehicle, out into the cold Baltimore winter--the sun has long since set but the moon is full above and Hannibal watches to ensure Will makes it safely to his car.

The encephalitis has been nibbling away at Will's gorgeous mind, hobbling his unique faculties, blinding his vision. Hannibal, he must admit to himself, has made a mistake. The question now is, what to do to rectify the error before it goes too far to be repaired?

"It isn't the Ripper," Jack tells Will, "but it sure as fuck is something."

Will barely hears him over the rushing in his ears, the ocean--confused, Will looks around. The place is familiar but the ocean is miles away, isn't it? "Where are we?" he asks Hobbs.

Hobbs laughs and shoves Will back, then holds him under, and he fights and fights--

Alana offers to call Hannibal to inform him of Will's--incident, she thinks. Is that the right word? It wasn't an accident, if the investigation into Donald Sutcliff goes the way she expects.

It's all a mess. She knows that Will, despite himself, is fonder of Hannibal than he lets on, and Hannibal does need to know the status of his patient.

Donald Sutcliff was also Hannibal's friend, if Alana remembers correctly, and Hannibal actually trusted him with Will's care--oh, Hannibal is going to be furious.

Stop prevaricating, she scolds herself. She finally hits the call.

The first visit, Hannibal brings no gift, no food. Only himself. Will does not remember the hour Hannibal spent silent at his bedside.

The second visit, Hannibal makes with Alana and the third, he times it so as to interrupt Jack's attempt at using Will's still fevered mind.

It is only during the fourth visit that Will lifts his head to meet Hannibal's gaze.

"It appears Dr. Sutcliff was not the best referral," Hannibal confesses. "Please, forgive me."

"Of course, Hannibal," Will murmurs. He should appear weak, tucked beneath coarse hospital sheets, wan and faded from the fierce battle his body has fought with the illness--

Hannibal allows himself the tiniest smile at the corner of his lips because there is a predator finally gazing back at him from Will's eyes.
