cozy_coffee and today's theme is OtP. Prompts can be anything you like but they have to be about your One True Pairing.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.

“Just hold me, Angel, please. I’m not asking for anything more, I know we can’t, I just need… Sometimes I feel so alone.”
“You’re not.”
“Then hold me.”
How could he refuse? He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close in the darkness.
“I love you so much, sometimes I think my heart can’t stand it, that it’ll just shatter into a million pieces.”
“I know the feeling.” Angel rested his cheek against her hair, soft and warm, wishing they could stay this way forever and he’d never have to let her go.
“Why does love have to be so hard?”
Angel shook his head. “It isn’t. Love is easy; it’s everything else that’s hard.”
“It doesn’t feel that way.” Buffy shifted to look up at Angel, the rising moon gilding her hair. “Will you remember me?”
“What d’you mean?”
“When I’m gone?”
“Don’t talk like that, Buffy.”
“Slaying doesn’t come with a pension plan,” Buffy pointed out. “None of us live beyond our twenties, none that I’ve heard about anyway. Most don’t even make it out of their teens.”
“That’s not going to happen to you.”
“How can you be sure?”
“I won’t let it.” Angel gazed earnestly into Buffy’s eyes. “I’d move heaven and earth to protect you, you must know that.”
“I know you’d try, but you can’t be with me all the time.”
“I don’t need to be. You can take care of yourself.”
“So could all the other Slayers, the ones who died young. Kendra. It doesn’t matter how good we are if we’re outnumbered.”
“You’re gonna live, and be happy, and save the world whenever it needs saving,” Angel insisted. “And even when you’re old and grey, I’ll still love you as much as I do now.”
“That’s sweet. Unrealistic, but sweet.”
“What’s got you so down tonight?”
“I don’t know, feeling my mortality, I guess. The whole Cruciamentum thing… I really thought I was gonna die, all my Slayer powers gone. I’ve never felt so weak and helpless, not even when I had the flu.”
“I still can’t believe Giles did that to you.”
“Yeah, but I don’t think the Watcher’s Council gave him a choice, and he did rebel against them in the end, so I’ve sort of forgiven him. Still, it was way scary.”
“Even so, you never gave up. You kept fighting, and you won; you’re still here, and so am I.”
Buffy rested her head against Angel’s chest again, vaguely registering the coolness of his body, his lack of heartbeat. “You are, and I’m glad. You make me feel safe, protected. You’re my guardian Angel. Literally. Just without the wings and the halo.”

“You’re strong, and courageous, and you care so much that you willingly put your life on the line for people who will never know or appreciate what you do for them. You’re special, Buffy, and not just because you’re the Slayer. Believe me, I’ve met Slayers before, and beyond their extra strength and other abilities, they weren’t that great. You were different from the start. The first time I saw you… there was just something about you, something I can’t explain, but you touched my heart. I knew then that I’d do anything I could to help you. I’ll always be here for you.”
“Promise?”
“I promise. Even if I can’t be there in person, I’ll be there in spirit.” Angel pulled Buffy closer, drawing warmth and strength from her presence. She was so small, so delicate, but he could feel the power in her. He kissed the top of her head, breathed in the scent of her hair, and his unbeating heart ached. No matter how much he wanted it to, he knew deep inside that this couldn’t last forever. Buffy deserved more than he could give her, but still, he would give her all he had to offer for as long as he could.
Buffy sighed. “I should go; it’ll be dawn soon, and you need to get back inside.”
Tilting her chin up, Angel kissed Buffy softly on the lips, reluctantly released her. “You’re right. You should get home before your mom starts worrying.”
“Mm, too late for that by about eighteen years. I think worrying about me is her default setting. I’ll see you tonight?”
“You know where to find me.”
Buffy moved towards the steps, then paused, looking back. “Did you really mean it? About loving me even when I’m old and grey?”
“I’ll always love you, Buffy. No matter what.”
“Me too.”
Then Buffy was gone, leaving Angel standing alone in the courtyard, wishing once again for everything he knew he could never have.
