Hello, everyone! Welcome to the first prompt post of 2024! :D I’m
creepy_shetan, your host for this week (and next). Hope you're having a good holiday season.
As a reminder, for January, we will be trying a new posting schedule. Sundays are for Lonely Prompts and sharing the fills that you completed during the week, Tuesdays and Thursdays are for new themes and prompts, and Saturdays will remain a Free for All.
With that being said, here's ✎ today's theme: fresh and new objects. Prompts can be about or involve any object that in some way is new for the character(s). Maybe something unfamiliar? Something that's a replacement? Refreshing or restocking supplies? An unexpected acquisition? Or perhaps something long coveted? Intangible objects count, too, of course! Anything goes, whether it still has a price sticker stuck to it or not.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Star Trek (AOS), any +/ any, regifting something to someone who actually wants/needs it
+ any super hero fandom, any, put the glowy whatever right back where you found it and back away slowly
+ author's choice, any, opening a new planner for the new year
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community.
While the use of LJ's advanced search options is available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.
If you are viewing this post on our Dreamwidth site, please know that fills posted here will not show up as comments on our LiveJournal site, but you are still more than welcome to participate. =)
If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so… and spread the word!

Fill: Stargate Atlantis, John & or / Rodney
Date: 2024-01-03 04:09 am (UTC)Beside him, John let out an amused huff and Rodney could hear the smirk in the Colonel's voice without having to glance over.
"There's that McKay optimism again," he said, arms crossed as he stared out at the stars flashing by. "What, don't tell me you actually wanted to stay back on Earth?"
Rodney shuddered at the idea. He could only imagine what the SGC would have in store for Atlantis if given the chance. "I doubt we'll be getting as frequent of supply runs from the Daedalus after this," he commented instead.
"Yeah, I guess Woolsey and I burned a few bridges with Stargate Command and the IOA, huh?"
"Burned? Incinerated is more like it." Rodney shifted against the balcony railing, eyes never leaving the blur of constellations shooting past. "You took away their new favorite toy. How you expect me to save the city every thirty seconds without a constant supply of coffee..."
"Sorry," John said, though Rodney was sure he didn't hear even the faintest bit of guilt in there.
They lapsed into a brief silence again, John finally uncrossing his arms to rest against the railing as well. There was something peaceful about the blur of hyperspace, Rodney decided. Maybe it was because they were finally flying the city without the threat of impending death. Maybe it was simply because they were going home.
"We'll have to find a new planet again," Rodney sighed when the silence dragged a little too long. "The Wraith know about our old location now." Which was a shame. Finding inhabitable planets that weren't already inhabited and had a reasonable climate wasn't exactly the easiest task.
"We'll find someplace. Maybe it will be even better."
"Right. At this point, I'd settle for anywhere that doesn't try to kill us as soon as we touch down."
"We'll find a place," John repeated, tone softer, almost reassuring.
Rodney shifted again, gripping the railing with both hands. "Easier said than done," he grumbled, keeping his eyes straight ahead. Then, after a moment, "I don't suppose you have a direction in mind already?"
In his periphery, he could see the Colonel's easy shrug and feel his grin beaming across the space between them. "Not sure yet. A new direction, I guess. Somewhere brand new."
