[identity profile] simplyn2deep.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] comment_fic
So, the first bi-weekly (twice a week in this case) post has been imported from LJ to DW. As the admin, I am the only one who has access to do this. I begin the import process around 11 am (California time), so there is a very real possibility that the entry will be on LJ for several hours before I begin the process.

Entries seem to post faster than comments do. PLEASE HAVE PATIENCE WITH THIS. It is my understanding that comments will eventually be added as they move up in the DW import queue. I do not know how long that process takes. If after 24 hours you do not see your comment imported to DW, you are welcome to post the comment yourself on DW, but know there could be a possibility that it can be brought over in the import.

I will do the import process multiple times throughout the day and multiple times throughout the week to make sure everything is as up-to-date as possible. I seem to be doing it every 5 hours or as I remember to check on the status on DW.

This next part is geared more towards those on DW rather than LJ (but applies to everyone): If you see a prompt on LJ (that isn't yet on DW) that you would like to fill on DW, please give credit to the person who originally left the prompt by linking back to the original prompt/comment when you post to DW.

Also, a reminder that any prompts or fills done on DW will not appear on LJ unless the person who made the prompt/fil on DW does so on LJ.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to send me a DM or leave your comment here and I will get back to you.

As a DW user, I definitely like the idea of using the comm on DW. However, I've discovered that because it's an import I don't get notification that it's happened, so I have to remember to check it. Which relies on me remembering... I've set it to come up on my reading page, but then I don't always remember to look at that either.

I'm sure, given time I will come to check more often, although it will probably mean I'm a day late (especially as I'm in the UK).

Thank you for telling me about why I wasn't getting notifications. It never occurred to me that imports wouldn't generate a post notification. That's something we will all have to work on to make the community successful in both places.

Thanks for all your work! Didn't realize I'd joined but forgotten to subscribe over on dw, so good reminder to check in there :)

Thanks for working hard to have the comm on both sides!

Just a quick suggestion/reminder: If you're on DW and if you haven't done so already, I think it'd be a good idea to claim your LJ OpenID. I did it earlier this week without any problems.

It might send you to LJ to confirm your identity (grant permission, basically) real quick, and then you'll get an email with a link to click after about an hour (in case you change your mind or you made a mistake). The process is really easy.

I suggest this especially because, when your LJ comments are copied over to DW, they'll merge into one, making it look like you posted comments from your DW from the start. It would help clear up the clutter and confusion when scrolling through comment sections on DW.

You could cross-post your comments to LJ and DW, and then delete the DW versions when you see that the LJ versions have been imported... Idk, I think it'd be easier to just wait out the comment import (which is slower than entry/post import, from what I've seen this week).

There are only three posts per week for new prompt posts, and, as [livejournal.com profile] simplyn2deep was kind enough to confirm for me, there is no hard time limit on when you can leave prompts. Don't worry about being X hours late and just enjoy it at your own pace. If you see a prompt that you like on LJ, fill it on LJ if you can... or not. You can wait until you see it on DW and fill it then.

(Seriously, y'all, the comments sections on Tuesday's and Thursday's posts on DW hurt my brain. I almost deleted a prompt, because my first thought was that it was left by a bot. XD;; )
