Hi. I hope everyone has had as much fun this week prompting and ficcing as I have had being guest host. :) Today's theme is A Night On The Town.

A night out on the town is always fun and a great way for your favorite characters to enjoy themselves - whether they're fighting zombies, pulling a heist, or dancing the night away.

The usual rules apply -

+ No more than three prompts per fandom.
+ No more than five prompts at a time (though after you get one or more of your prompts filled, you are free to leave more).
+ No spoilers in your prompts until a week after air date or publication.
+ Warn for spoilers in your fic in bold and with at least three spaces above your fic.

Please be thoughtful of the codemonkeys and use the following format for your prompts:

Doctor Who, Eleven/River Song, late for a date
Sanctuary, Kate/Will, pizza and a movie
Sanctuary/Torchwood, Helen Magnus/Jack Harkness, they have a tradition of meeting every ten years in a cafe in Paris

If none of today's prompts catch your eye, please explore our Lonely Prompts.

NCIS, Tony, sometimes he rides the metro just to people-watch

Date: 2010-07-02 06:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anotherfngrl.livejournal.com
Sometimes, he rides the metro just to people watch.

It's an odd habit, and he's always dimly aware of the bus driver watching him cautiously, wondering who this lunatic is and why he isn't getting off, even as the bus approaches the stop he got on at.

That's why he doesn't let himself do it often, and never more than one circuit. He gets on a bus outside his apartment, rides it around DC, and gets off when they get back to his apartment. He likes the symmetry of the journey, and the safety of it. The bus will bring him home. All he has to do is wait.

Ziva caught him once, back before she had a car, when she took the Metro everywhere and the streets of DC were safe. It was a Saturday morning, after they'd closed a tough case. He'd brazened it out- told her he'd woken up in some woman's bed, having left his car at a bar somewhere, and he was trying to get home.

She believed him, and her lips curled in disgust at his weakness. Sex she understood, but the idea of being so sloppily drunk he didn't know where he'd left his car was pathetic to her. He almost laughed. If only she knew how weak he really was, riding around on public transportation because he doesn't want to feel alone.

It's like therapy for Tony. When the darkness of their cases becomes to much for him, he rides around just watching his fellow passengers, constructing their lifes' stories in his head.

A young man, probably no more than twenty, sits opposite him one night. He's obviously exhausted, and Tony decides it's because he's been pulling double shifts, to pay for an engagement ring which is currently burning a hole in his pocket. He'll get home, propose, get married, and raise two wonderful children with the woman he loves.

In the privacy of his own head, Tony is a bit of a romantic. The one thing all of his stories have in common is that they all end happily. An exhausted, single woman is not working herself into the ground at a dead end job that will never make ends meet- she's a resident, studying to become a doctor. Today she saved the life of her future husband. The boy, barely even a teenager, with the black eye isn't being beaten by his father. He got it protecting the girl next door from a bully, and one day they'll fall in love and get married.

The other thing all of his stories have in common is that, in the end, the characters never end up alone. They always fall in love, raise families, and live happily ever after. Watching them, he occasionally believes that so will he.

Sometimes, when he gets on the bus, tired and beaten down, he's on his way home from the hospital, where his wife has just delivered their first child. Sometimes, when he's stiff and sore from chasing down suspects, he's a dock worker saving up money to put his wife through cooking school, so she can open a restaurant. Sometimes he works in a retail store founded by his father, helping customers and replacing inventory beside his old man. Very, very rarely, he's a film professor on his way home to a little cottage with a white picket fence to see his wife, the doctor. But no matter the story he crafts, there's always someone waiting for him at home.

That's what makes getting off the bus so damn difficult. While he's there, he's someone else, living another life. One that isn't as empty as his own. For a few minutes, he can convince himself that he's not alone.

Maybe, some day Tony won't need the bus anymore. Maybe when he steps out at odd hours, it'll be to pick up milk for the kid's cereal or get his pregnant wife more pickles and ice cream. Maybe, one day, one of his stories will come true.

(Written as Sabrina: The Teenaged Witch)

You should never play mini-golf with a witch.

Harvey learned that the hard way. He’d look up from his scorecard and Sabrina will have sunk a hole-in-one. His wild puts somehow magically went dead center through the windmill and into the cup at the end of the track.

The people in front of them always got paged to their table at Hearth ‘N’ Kettle, and they always managed to make the big light on the clown’s nose turn bright red. They’ve had three free lobster dinners thanks to her inventiveness.

If he weren’t so addicted to their Saturday games, he’d tell her to let him lose for once.

But helping him win makes her so happy, that Harvey’s willing to hold his peace.

Leverage, Eliot/Hardison/Parker, Hardison isn't all that surprised when Eliot and Parker are better dancers than he is

He liked to sit back and watch them. It wasn't any surprise that they were better dancers than he was. Their talents were both physical and you could see that in the way they moved. Hardison just felt clunky when he was wedged between them anywhere but in bed (or in the shower or against the wall or on the kitchen table).

It's some dive bar that Eliot chose, way out in fucking Nowhere, Montana where Nate says they're stealing a ranch. And Hardison was six kinds of antsy, going to a dive bar in rural Montana with his white girlfriend and boyfriend, but no one hassled them so far. Plus, it came with the added bonus of watching the two of them dance while Eliot crooned under his breath. He and Parker didn't think the boy even knew he did it and they'd never tell.

It was nice to just sit back and watch sometimes. Of course, he'd never tell them that. But damn, he had two gorgeous lovers and he was more than happy to tell them that all the time, as long as Nate wasn't trying to shut him up.

Parker was light on her feet, moving like a cat. He guessed that was where the term cat burglar came from, but he'd never imagined someone could look so gorgeous doing it. She moved like the air itself, her stolen cowgirl boots highlighting her lean, pale legs and her black shirt emphasizing everything up top.

And Eliot, he was like her anchor, lifting her up and dropping her down like it was nothing, and moving in time with the music. It would be easy to be jealous of Eliot, jealous of the simple, natural rhythm he had with Parker, of the uninhibited beauty he had when he was dancing. He was as gorgeous as he was when he was fighting, except, instead of bloodying and concussing the bad guys, he was putting a smile on his lovers' faces - and that was why Hardison could never be jealous.

He couldn't be jealous because, even when they were dancing together, he knew he was a part of it, too.

From: [personal profile] chibifukurou

Mac sipped wine, while slowly rubbing his hand over Adam’s prettily striped ass. All around him various dom and sub pairs relaxed and performed, but the main attraction was on the main stage where Don was slowly working Danny over.

Mac was really enjoying the show and from the way Adam was squirming, Mac suspected that he was enjoying it as much as he was. Which was good considering the fact that Mac and Adam were scheduled to perform next.

They sit in the car for nearly an hour before they can bring themselves to move. It's not that they don't want to get out of the car and go inside, it's just that they're both a little bit afraid of what might happen. What people might say. What people might do. This is not a town that's full of prejudice but... people can be weird. They can take a while to come to terms with things. And so many people in this town know them both that they just aren't sure exactly what kind of reception they're going to get.

Mark's hands are still on the wheel, perfectly positioned at ten and two.

Jason stares out the window into the dark.

They've been in this pizza place so many times and neither one of them have ever been hesitant to walk through the door, but today things changed. Now they're boyfriends instead of just friends, and even though they've technically been boyfriends for a while, it feels different to have everyone look at them and know. It's scarier. High school's tricky enough without this pressure on top of everything else.

They're half a cliche; the theatre kid and the jock, best friends since childhood. Next door neighbours. Always together. Equally studious and equally smart, just with different interests outside of school. Coming out today wasn't something they planned but they'd been thinking about doing it anyway, so. They don't regret it.

"We should go inside," Jason says, finally, turning to look at Mark.

Mark's jaw is clenched; his grip on the wheel tight. He's nervous, Jason thinks, but he kind of gets that. Mark's a football player. People expect half the boys in theatre to eventually come out. So it's a bigger deal for Mark, he supposes.

"I know," Mark says. "We really should."

Neither of them move.

It's Tuesday and they always go for pizza on Tuesdays. If they change their plans just because of what happened at school today, it's going to send the message that they're scared, or embarrassed, or... something, and they're none of those things. (Well, maybe they're a little scared, but they're allowed to be.) Their first time out as a couple was always going to be awkward. If they get it over with tonight, then maybe things can start to settle down again. Eventually people will accept this, come to see it as normal, and even if they don't -- they still have each other. That makes a difference.

Jason reaches out, tentatively, to nudge Mark's grip off the wheel, linking their hands together instead. Mark squeezes his hands tightly, almost painfully, and Jason can feel his pulse racing when he brushes a finger across his wrist.

"We don't have to do this you know," Jason says. "We can just go home, order take-out, see how things go at school tomorrow."

Mark takes a deep breath and then shakes his head, looks at Jason with shadowed eyes.

"That just makes it feel like we're going into hiding," he says. "And I don't want to go into hiding. I'm not ashamed of this, Mark, you know that."

"I know," Mark murmurs. "I know you're not. I'm not either. But giving it time... maybe that's better. People can have time to adjust and stuff, sometimes they need it."

"I don't care," Mark says, and now he's wearing his stubborn expression. (Jason kind of loves his stubborn expression. His eyes get all fierce and full of intent.) "I don't care," he says, leaning over to kiss Jason briefly, softly. "Screw it. Whatever happens, we'll be together. It's gonna be okay."

He releases Jason's hands and opens the door. The cool night air rushes in.

"We've got a year of high school left, Jase. We can't hide away for a year-- I won't hide away for a year. And I won't let you either. We're still the same people we were yesterday. If our friends don't get that then they aren't really our friends."

They get out of the car and Mark locks it, then holds out his hand to Jason.

"C'mon," he says, "Let's get some pizza."
