Hi. I hope everyone has had as much fun this week prompting and ficcing as I have had being guest host. :) Today's theme is A Night On The Town.
A night out on the town is always fun and a great way for your favorite characters to enjoy themselves - whether they're fighting zombies, pulling a heist, or dancing the night away.
The usual rules apply -
+ No more than three prompts per fandom.
+ No more than five prompts at a time (though after you get one or more of your prompts filled, you are free to leave more).
+ No spoilers in your prompts until a week after air date or publication.
+ Warn for spoilers in your fic in bold and with at least three spaces above your fic.
Please be thoughtful of the codemonkeys and use the following format for your prompts:
Doctor Who, Eleven/River Song, late for a date
Sanctuary, Kate/Will, pizza and a movie
Sanctuary/Torchwood, Helen Magnus/Jack Harkness, they have a tradition of meeting every ten years in a cafe in Paris
If none of today's prompts catch your eye, please explore our Lonely Prompts.

Date: 2010-07-01 10:47 pm (UTC)Bittersweet (The Mentalist, Jane).
Date: 2010-07-02 03:41 am (UTC)"It has character, Patrick!" she used to say, laughing at him over starters and mains he barely recalls. "Don't you see that?"
He never learnt to appreciate the character that she thought it had. He learnt not to disparage it when they came here. He even learnt to tolerate it. But he never learnt to appreciate it the way she did; never learnt how to see what it was that she saw in it. For a man who can see so much, it frustrates him that he could never see this.
He orders a meal from the menu that he'll barely touch, doesn't care what it is, and a bottle of wine that he'll spend the evening drinking. This would've been their anniversary and, if she were still alive, he strongly suspects they'd have been spending it here. This is where she would have wanted to go -- the fanciest restaurants in the city on offer to her, and he knows without a doubt that she'd have picked this one. His wife was an amazing woman, but occasionally he didn't understand her.
The wine is red and heavy, the taste an explosion of smoky plum, and he sips at it as he thinks about her; wonders what life would be like if she were still here. Wonders what he'd be doing now. Wonders how his daughter would be growing up.
It never gets easier and he's not sure he wants it to. He's still plagued with nightmares. He still hasn't caught Red John. He doesn't have many goals in life, not any more, but that's the one he has: catch Red John. Make him pay. Make him suffer the way he's suffered. And to do that he needs the pain to remain fresh, needs the memories crystal clear to drive him forward, to keep him questing relentlessly until he gets what he needs.
His phone flashes an incoming call. He reads Lisbon's name on the screen, sighs and ignores it. He doesn't want a case to interfere with tonight, not even if it is Red John related. He just wants to sit here with his wine and his distasteful food going cold, his memories a bitter-sweet companion and her much-loved character all around him.

Date: 2010-07-02 12:02 am (UTC)Date Part 2 | Charmed, Piper/Leo, Date night
Date: 2010-07-22 04:50 am (UTC)When Piper and Leo returned from their date, the manor was still standing, though a curl of oily black smoke was trickling out of the kitchen window.
Hurrying inside, they found the foyer littered with life sized army men and action figures as well as the remains of various pieces of furniture.
“I knew this was a bad idea.” Piper muttered as she surveyed the damage.
They followed the trail of broken plastic figures to the living room, where they found Henry, Paige, and the boys curled up in a pile in front of the television, which was blaring a late night infomercial. Piper didn’t have the heart to wake them.
Instead she dragged Leo off to the kitchen to see what had caused the smoke. She found a half-melted pro-wrestler stuffed into the oven. Not wanting to think about it too hard, she carefully steps around the plastic corpse and heads for the stairs.
She’s not going to let it get to her, not when she and Leo have finally managed to have a real date for the first time in six months. She can always make Paige and the boys clean it up in the morning. Right now she’s got a husband to ravish.
