Chetverg - Character Substitution
Aug. 26th, 2010 02:36 amHi, everyone~ ^_^ Today's my last day, and I just want to thank you for having me and for writing so many wonderful prompts and fics this week. I hope you've had as much fun as I have. ♥♥♥
Today's theme: character substitution. Allow me to explain... One character from Fandom A is substituted into Fandom B as if they'd always been there -- there's no "home world" to which they can return. Now, this could mean that said Character X simply meets/knows someone/everyone in Fandom B, or Character X actually replaces Character Y and has their life and experiences.
...Um, I really hope that makes sense. 6^^;; It's basically a crossover combined with an AU. Only use Fandom A for a character (more than one would be too complicated), and keep their general appearance and personality. The universe and characters of Fandom B should essentially remain the same.
...Well, unless you wanna pull a It's a Wonderful Life / write a scenario where the entire chain of events changes b/c so-and-so is a completely different person and thus start an insane-but-epic novel-length retelling fic. *_* ...I think I just gave myself a chill. And a mini-heart-attack. x__X;;
With this concept, it can be easy to dive in deep and make it very psychological. However, it's not necessary, especially considering the 4300-character limit for LJ comments an' all.
Some questions to ponder over: What would X's role be in this universe? How would X react in this situation? What kind of relationship would X have with Y or Z or etc?
A reminder of the rules:
Also, for the sake of our fabulous coders, please remember to use the proper format for prompts.
*** Look closely: the parenthetical phrase is a small addition needed just for this theme.
Examples:
Not in the mood forcrazy experimental crossover AUs? Feel free to take a look around our massive archive of Lonely Prompts.
Be creative, be inspired, and enjoy~! ♥
(Btw, I seriously can't wait to see what you guys come up with. :D)

A reminder of the rules:
+ No more than three prompts per fandom
+ No more than five prompts in a row
+ If one or more of your prompts is filled, you can then prompt again
+ No spoilers within prompts until a week after the airdate/release
+ For fics, warn for spoilers in bold and leave at least three spaces before the text
Also, for the sake of our fabulous coders, please remember to use the proper format for prompts.
*** Look closely: the parenthetical phrase is a small addition needed just for this theme.
Examples:
For multiple fandoms / crossovers:
Whitechapel/Inception, Chandler + Arthur, (Chandler is added) he taught Arthur everything he knows about suits
Alias/Leverage, Sark + the team, (Sark is the mark) Nate knows his reputation; Sophie and Parker each want to get back at him for something
Devil May Cry/Constantine, Vergil + or / Constantine, (Vergil replaces Balthazar) Hell on Earth would only be the beginning
Harry Potter/X-Men, John/Cedric, (Cedric replaces Bobby) he's the most popular guy in school and on the fast-track to becoming an X-Man; no one could understand how John is the only thing that matters to him

Date: 2011-01-10 09:23 am (UTC)They all think that he met Cobb first, which is also wrong because he likes Dom best but he met Eames first.
And they think that he has always worn suits, always, even Eames teases him about that, even though he is the only one who knows better.
They met in London while Eames was working with the police to avoid jail and Arthur was living with him to study for his Master degree.
“Ah, Arthur,” Eames grinned at him: “Chandler, my dear flatmate Arthur.”
“Arthur, the man who makes sure that I don’t run off to Mombasa while no one’s looking: DI Chandler.”
They only shook hands and had some small talk, nothing was life-changing about their first meeting.
A few weeks later, however, that was a different story...
The front door was opened but Arthur barely paid any attention to it because he was loudly cursing Eames. He had an interview with this British architect Miles, the extractor par excellence, in a few hours and needed to look presentable but couldn’t find Eames best shirt which he needed to borrow because Arthur didn’t own any shirts.. The problem was not so much that Eames wasn’t tidy, because neither was Arthur, but they had both their own and very distinctive systems of untidiness.
“Arthur,” Chandler said when Arthur finally emerged from Eames’ bedroom. He had settled on Eames second best shirt: “Eames is not here?”
“No, he said he wanted to get some wine for celebration.”
Chandler frowned slightly: “What’s the occasion.”
“I’ve got an interview for a traineeship.”
“Of course, Eames mentioned that.”
“Eames doesn’t talk.” Arthur replied because Eames didn’t- he sprouted long sentences stuffed with flirting and insults but he didn’t talk.
“Don’t worry, we’re friends.” Chandler had to have notice Arthur’s surprise because he amended: “A special kind of friends, just like you and him.”
“Friends stretches it a bit.” Chandler laughed lightly at that and looked at Arthur:
“When do you have your job interview?”
“In a few hours.”
“Come on. Eames’ handed down clothes are not what you should wear for an interview.”

Date: 2011-01-10 09:25 am (UTC)No one understood why Cedric, golden boy of the mansion, hung out so much with John Allerdyce, the resident bad boy. No one placed high hopes in John and no one thought that the relationship between Cedric and John would do Cedric any good and if it had any positive effect on John then it never showed.
Kitty, Piotr, Rogue, no one had said anything of course but they all had tried to set up Cedric with someone more suitable than John but it never worked.
For some reason none of them could fathom John was Cedric’s world.

Date: 2010-08-26 03:22 pm (UTC)"Bobby?" she called after a moment of silence. "I'm back."
"Ya mind keepin' it down?" Bobby hollered, louder than she. "It's still a library, idjit."
Xander popped up from behind a stack of books. "He's been like that all night. I think he burned his ham and grits or something." He promptly flinched as Bobby raised a tome of necromancy as though to smack him with it.
Buffy frowned. "You're on research duty?"
"So're you," Bobby frowned. "Get readin'. That spell's like nothin' I've ever seen before."
"You'd better do it," warned Willow from a corner of the room where she had herself literally surrounded by books. "He keeps threatening to tan our hides."
"Cordelia thought he was offering a day spa treatment," Xander added, "and he kicked her out."
"More readin', less yappin'!" Bobby roared.
But Buffy wasn't easily intimidated. "Bobby, I'm sweating like a pig, I just had to fight off a good thirty vamps, and when we're done saving the world tonight I still have to read three chapters about the French Revolution. You've got a research team working; I'm gonna go take a shower."
"Well, boo-frickin'-hoo, princess," Bobby retorted, but he let her go. He might not be an effete British Watcher, but he knew not to mess with a sweaty Slayer.

Date: 2010-08-26 12:57 pm (UTC)Being the only civillian on a military ship had been something he was only justbeginning to get used to. He had been working as a member of the SFIS for about 5 years now, but this was hist first stint as an 'Agent afloat', and truth be told, he missed the excitement being on a planet side major response team provided.
The enterprise was an annoyingly well oiled machine, and due to this, Tony often had nothing to do other than observe. Which was infuriating really, because Tony was never the sort of person who could stand back and not be restless.
The door slid open infornt of him, and his eyes narrowed as they landed on the man who was the centre of attention.
Kirk.
The mans record had promised enticingly to make Tonys job interesting. With a juvenile criminal record like his, he was bound to run a ship full of criminal activities that Tony could stop and solve.
No such look. Kirk was sociakky relaxed, and blindly forgot some rules that Tony didn't care about, but on alot of levels he run a tight ship that was built on respect.
In other words- No crime.
Of course, shallow professional judgement aside, Tony had long since formed a respect for the man, and was beginning to form a freindship with him and his strange crew.
"Dinozzo!" The captain exclaimed, comming over to clap the man accross the sholders. "The local population have offered us their resort for shore leave. They're very friendly- We were wondering if you wanted to join us."
Tony studied him and saw the sparkle in his eyes. That sparkle meant one of two things. Leaning close to him, Tony spoke. "Hot women, or potential choas?"
The captain laughed and lowered his voice, hand slapping his abck once more.
"Both my friend. Both."
Tony stepped back and grinned, rubbing his hands otgether.
"excellent. When can we go?"
Maybe the Enterprise wasn't so bad afterall.
