Not with roses or chocolates...
but by showing your thanks and support

<td width="30"></td> <td valign="top" width="490">In Iraq, they don't send Valentines... what they deliver every day is far more sinister. It's not just the immediate danger of a rocket attack; it's the constant stress of combat that slowly steals away the chance to feel human... to reach out and touch another. The simplest pleasures are crowded out by stress, and danger, and fear. Combat leaves no room for quiet moments.

Think of the warm comfort you feel when you open a Valentine from someone far away. Think of the simple pleasure it gives you... the chance to reflect, the chance for a happy memory to dance through your thoughts. It's just one small moment that most of us take for granted; and yet when you can't have such a moment, it's something to cherish.

For us at home, unless we've had a friend or loved one in combat, this war has little touched us. We have not given as they have. We have not sacrificed.

That's why we, the USO, are writing to you. We're asking that you support us, and our men and women on the front lines, in a special way on this special holiday.

We are mounting a Valentine's Day Drive to let Americans at home touch the hearts of Americans overseas... to give our troops just a moment of comfort, of warmth and good feeling.

Please visit our website to send a personal Valentine – from you – to one of our troops overseas. If you wish, you may write your own message of thanks and encouragement. We'll deliver your Valentine where it's needed most, to make sure that every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine, and Coast Guardsman now serving overseas, is somebody's Valentine.

We are also asking that you help us deliver your Valentine to the front by making a donation of whatever you can afford. Think of your Valentine and gift as sending a message of love to someone who does you honor by serving our country.

Valentine's Day is coming. Please help us make it a happy one for our brave men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Brought to you by the wonderful folks at The USO.
