Hello, everyone. I’m [livejournal.com profile] marlex and today's theme is Soulmark AUs. This trope seems pretty popular in the MCU fandom (at least that’s where I first encountered it). I’m not sure how widespread it is, but I figured it would be a fun way to kick off the week.

Essentially, the way it works, everyone (or nearly everyone) is born with a Soulmate (or possibly more than one, or maybe a romantic soulmate or a platonic soulmate). That’s one of the great things, it’s pretty flexible. In case you’re not familiar with this, the most common version of the trope I’ve come across is one in which you have a Soulmark (a tattoo of sorts) consisting of the first words your Soulmate will speak to you. They have the same on their body (usually in the others handwriting no less). You can be born with it, or it can appear when your Soulmate is born. Again, quite a bit of flexibility. Thus, when you hear somebody utter your words, and you say theirs back to them, you know you’ve found your soulmate.

I’ve also seen over versions of the Soulmark trope, including counters and the like.

Prompts could be suggested situations or even the words someone was born with. Have fun!

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ MCU, Darcy Lewis/Steve Rogers, “I think I just broke my nose on the Abs of America.”
+ NCIS, Abby Scuito/Tim McGee, Rule 12 doesn’t count if you’re soulmates... right?
+ Lost, Claire Littleton/Charlie Pace, She never imagined meeting her soulmate while pregnant and stranded on a deserted island.

We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2019 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.
