[identity profile] firefox1490.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] comment_fic
Sup everyone, still [livejournal.com profile] firefox1490 hosting this lovely Wednesday. Continuing on with my hostly hosting duties, todays theme is:

Almost maybe, things that almost happened but didn't. Be it split second changes of heart to flashes of paths not taken.

Please forget the rules:
* Three prompts per fandom, and no more than five total. If one of your prompts is filled, you may post another.
* No spoilers for new shows/seasons until at least one week after airing.
* If your fill do contains spoilers, please warn accordingly and leave enough space for people to pass by.

To help the hardworking codemonekys please format your prompts as such:

Inception, Arthur/Eames, He was suppose to have taken the 3:15 train at Paddington station
DCU/Smallville, Clark/Lex, He'd tell him the truth today.
Sailor Moon, Usagi/Mamoru, This was her darkest fear come true

If nothing strikes your fancy feel free to check out the lonely prompts, they always need a bit more love.

"We have to go back." Sam was already turning to re-enter Elysian Fields when Dean opened the driver's side of the Impala.

"Are you out of your mind? " Dean's voice raised. "Sam, Gabriel can hold his own. He's not that easy to kill."

"You saw what happened to the gods, Dean!" Sam snapped. "Gabriel doesn't stand a chance."

"And you do?"

"Yeah," Sam stepped inside, locking his gaze with his brother's. "Lucifer won't waste me. He needs me."

"Sam, don't-"

But Sam was already gone.

Sam hadn't felt so sure of anything in a long time, running toward the being that had killed Dean, messed with them, saved them.

He knew what it was like to run from your family, and the conflict that came with facing them.

He knew, in some weird way, that Gabriel would have pulled through for them in the same situation. The only question was...how did he distract Lucifer from killing Gabriel, or at least delay him?

say yes, Sam's irrational mindset said. Just say yes, give in. The world might have a better chance with an archangel on humanity's side. Just say yes

But Sam couldn't do that to Dean.

Say yes. Just say yes.

Instead he ran, trying to ignore the fallen bodies of the old gods sprawled in the hall, skidding on blood and God knows what else.

He yanked open the double doors, mind flashing with Gabriel's entrance, free and easy, the life of the party.

There was Lucifer and Gabriel. More than one Gabriel, actually, and when the archangel's gaze met his own, it was sad, lost, and resolved. Accepting. Surprised... Grateful that Sam had come. That someone had come for him

Gabriel flickered from sight as Lucifer drove the blade into his own brother.

Sam instinctively shielded his eyes from the blinding light, heart dropping to his stomach, throat closing up, nerves wired.

Just say yes .

When Sam opened his eyes, Lucifer was gone, and Gabriel was on the floor, the ash-gray markings of the fallen Messenger brushing the tip of Sam's shoe.

No.

Aaah, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to comment, work's been absolute hell. But thank you so much for this! It's so sad and powerful and just what I wanted. ♥
