Thursday - Neglected Characters
Feb. 10th, 2011 07:03 amGood morning!
drabblewriter here for my last day as your host. Today's theme is neglected characters. Let's face it some - some characters get the short end of the stick when comes to fanfic. You know, that ones you mention to the casual viewer and they respond, "Wait....who?" Whether their just minor characters or no one really loves them, they're just not around much. So today we bring out our neglected characters and give them a chance to shine.
Have fun, and remember to follow the rules:
* Three prompts per fandom, and no more than five total. If one of your prompts is filled, you may post another.
* No spoilers for new shows/seasons until at least one week after airing.
* If your fill contains spoilers, please warn for it and leave enough space for people to pass by.
Feed the overworked code monkeys correctly formatted prompts (and not overly long, don't write the story for them, inspire them):
Being Human US, Emily, seeing Josh at the hospital was like losing him all over again
Supernatural, Nick(/any), dealing with the aftermath of being Lucifer's vessel
And if today's prompts just aren't doing it for you, be sure to swing by and check out the lonely prompts.

Date: 2011-02-10 02:35 pm (UTC)Nick lay on his deathbed. His flesh was rotting, his hair was falling out. Hell, it was like having radiation sickness. No one wanted to be around him. Only the Winchester boys and their angel would come to see him, and then only briefly. But the nicest thing in Nick's day is Bobby's visit. Bobby tells him what he already know: that he wasn't a bad person.
"You ain't bad, Nick. Weren't yer fault you succumbed to that devil. Don't you worry- I still love you." Bobby bent to place a light kiss on Nick's decaying lips,
Nick was having trouble breathing, and he knew that it was his time to die. But he wanted to say one thing to Bobby. He lifted his hand.
"Wait, Bobby. I.... I love you too. I'll see you on the other side."
Bobby chuckled. "Not bloody likely."

A shadow like John, who sinks more and more into the background every day. Cragen thinks of the man he met fresh out of Baltimore, the cynical, bitter man, ready to try something with living people this time, maybe give his life a bit more poignancy. Most people seem to get sharper and harsher with age; Munch gets worn down flat.
Finn bottles it all up. What can Cragen tell him? Sure, take it out on my best detective, why not? Divide the squad room, break down the already broken team. Anything to make yourself less angry.
They pass by his office every day, broken people trying to put back together stranger's lives. And what can he do to help them?
A sounding board, a support system, a guiding hand, and a piece of licorice from the tub on the desk. Some days that's all you have to give.

Date: 2011-02-10 03:59 pm (UTC)Pacing back and forth, flipping through books, channels and eating just for the sake of passing time. Glancing up at the clock, time never passed quick enough. It was never the same without her here. Then there was always that worry at the back of his mind, what if something happened to her on the way home while he was sleeping. Would he wake up? Would he instinctively know that something was wrong?
They were all each other had to depend on.

Date: 2014-10-05 04:25 pm (UTC)"Well." The sardonic voice came from over his shoulder, though Ducky didn't turn to look. "Fancy meeting you like this."
"I assume you also received a note?"
Napoleon Solo sat down on the other end of the bench. "I did." He sighed, rubbing his eyes. "I didn't expect April to die."
"All people die," Ducky said. "And we are all so much older now than we were."
"April Dancer is - was - something else, though," Napoleon said.
Ducky turned slightly to face his one-time partner and old friend. "She married, did you know? Had two children, and five grandchildren."
"You kept up with that?" Napoleon cocked his head slightly.
"Only those I felt closest to." The corner of Ducky's mouth quirked up.
"I'm afraid to know what you found out about me."
"Don't worry, I shan't tell."
They sat in the sunlight for a short time longer. "Well, Illya." Napoleon stood up. "I'm afraid I have to take my leave. My old bones are feeling the change in the weather." He raised his eyes toward the sky, with a series of dark clouds starting to roll in.
"I suppose that there might be a chance, the next time we receive one of these messages, it might be for one of us." Ducky rose to his feet, as well.
"Perhaps." Napoleon grinned. "Or perhaps we'll be needed for one final caper."
Ducky narrowed his eyes. "Do you really think so?"
Napoleon gave him a mock salute. "I can always hope, my dear Illya."
"So can I, Napoleon." Ducky watched him walk away before starting off in the opposite direction, wondering what he should tell Abby when she asked him what he did this weekend.
