Steve sighed and wrapped his hands around his mug. He lifted it to his lips and took a long drink of his coffee, placing the mug back down on the table before looking up at his Ma.

"You think I don't know that?" He whispered, hands tightening around the mug. "You think I haven't had a stupid number of sleepness nights over this? Worrying about it. About him. About us. About him." He swallowed. "I don't know what to do, ma." His voice took on a pleading tone, his body language showing his desperation for his mother to fix it, to make it right, to tell him what to do.

"Oh, Stevie..." Sandy sat down opposite and took his hand. "I can't tell you what to do. I wish I could but this is one of those things you, and Christian, have to work out yourselves. All I can tell you to do is to be careful. To follow your heart."

"I wish it was that easy. I love him. I love him so much and..." He swallowed heavily, his eyes dropping to the table. Pulling his hands back, he wrapped his arms around himself. "I want to be with him but I want to do the right thing by him and I don't think... I don't know... He can't..." He trailed off, chewing on his top lip, fighting the urge to cry. "I don't want him being with me to fuck things up for them. He wants so much and I'm... I'm just gonna hold him back, aren't I?"

Sandy sighed and opened her mouth to reply, then closed it again - Christian was standing in the doorway, and had heard everything. She watched as he stepped up behind Steve and wrapped his arms tightly around his shoulders, kissing his jaw.

"There ain't nothin' I want more than you darlin'" Christian promised. "Yeah, I want to go places with our music and my actin' but I don't want them more than I want you." He pulled Steve out of the chair, turning him to face him. Brushing his hair from his face, tucking it behind his ears, Christian cupped Steve's face in his hands, thumbs brushing his cheeks. "If we gotta keep it quiet, hide from the world then we'll keep on doin' it. It sucks but... I wanna be with you. You could never hold me back, y'hear me, Steve? I love you."

Steve smiled back at him, leaning into the touch.

"I love you, Steve," Christian repeated, kissing him on the lips.

Jack’s not quite insane enough to try having sex offworld. On the other hand, he absolutely will go crazy (this last mission proved that to him) if he never gets to spend time alone with Daniel. To touch him, hold him, kiss him: yes to all of that, but that isn’t even it.

It’s hard when he tries to explain it to Daniel, who keeps trying to crawl into his lap, saying, “Oh, yes, me, too. Me, too, Jack.”

Jack appreciates the enthusiasm, but Daniel isn’t getting it. It’s not enough that Daniel’s in complete agreement and will work with Jack to make sure they have their private time. It’s important that he knows why.

So how does Jack explain that he needs to be able to put aside his rank, take off his ‘colonel face’ and get away from any witnesses so that he can just look at the man he loves and not have to hide how he feels? How does he make Daniel understand the actual, physical pain that he suffered on their last mission from holding everything in all the time?

Most importantly, how does he explain all that without sounding like the world’s hugest sap?
