He is the bull elephant that takes out as many of the hunters as he can before succumbing to their spears.
He is the creeping, strangling vines and the poisonous flowers.
He is the blight on the crops and the sickness in the water.
He is the snake and the quicksand and the ankle snapping holes hidden by the grass.
He is hatred made in the image of a tiger and he will kill any human he finds.

Date: 2011-04-15 05:04 am (UTC)She wasn't allowed to go with her, it was a simple fact of her existence. The world outside was dangerous and cruel, and she should stay inside until she was old enough to handle it.
All the same, every time she was on Mother's lap, she'd crane her neck for a view outside. Whenever Mother left, the first thing she did was push a chair to the window and very carefully climb it to get a glimpse. She wasn't allowed outside, but those golden hours watching were already the best life could offer her.
The one time Mother came home to find her staring out the window she fussed for hours about how it was dangerous and she could have fallen-or worse, been seen. Rapunzel nodded and cried and swore never to do it again, but for the first time she felt the seeds of rebellion growing.
She played nice and kept her watching to a minimum, making sure to put the chair away well before Mother could possibly come home. Every day she measured herself against the windowsill, and every day she was a tiny bit closer to her goal. It wasn't until a few weeks after her sixth birthday when she got her wish. Noting how much taller she was getting, Mother hadn't let her out of her sight for a couple weeks, even making a habit of closing the shutters constantly. Rapunzel was sure she'd be able to look out now, if doing so wouldn't have caused a scene with Mother.
Eventually, though, Mother got sloppy, whether out of a belief Rapunzel would never disobey her or out of simple weariness. She left Rapunzel reading in the main room while she cooked them dinner.
Rapunzel saw her chance immediately and went for it, putting her book down and dashing for the window. Sure enough, she could reach it without much of a problem, and she flung open the shutters. The view was every bit as amazing as she remembered it, the sun was shining and the grass was green. It was amazing, and all at once she understood the concept of freedom. For the first time in her short, sheltered life, she understood outside as something other than just a pretty thing to look at. Mother had worked hard to keep her from it and now she wanted it more than anything. At the tender age of six, she already knew that more than anything in the world she wanted out.
Little did she know then that this determination would be the only thing keeping her sane ten years later. Somehow she knew the younger her would have approved.

Date: 2011-04-14 04:22 pm (UTC)"Um..."
"Steve, you're not doing it right! Don't you know how to read a story? You're supposed to do the voices!" Grace told him, rivaling her Father's usual ranting tone.
"She's right. How did you survive, not knowing such an important life skill?" Danny piped in, amusement on his face.
Steve gave him a look and then smiled at Grace. "Well, how about we get Danno to show me?"
"Nooo, I want you to read it, Steve!" Grace told him, looking sad.
Steve saw that he was outgunned, out-manned and outmaneuvered. By a little girl. God, she was good. "Alright. Let's try this again," Steve told her, doing it right this time. With all the voices.

Date: 2011-04-14 07:36 am (UTC)She starts to question them but they only have the barest memory of Peter and the next time she brings it up they've forgotten him.
Wendy is scared, then angry.
What could make them forget so easily? Did they not want to remember?
John, who has just started his career in banking, starts giving her strange looks when she talks about Neverland.
Micheal is determined to be a soldier when he is old enough and doesn't have time for what he calls her "baby stories".
When Father and John start discussing "sending her away" for the summer in hushed tones, Wendy realizes she must make herself forget Peter.
Or at least pretend to.
Wendy sees Peter only twice more.
Once the night before her wedding, when he kisses her cheek and wishes her well and once the day after her daughter is born.
She doesn't think Peter means for her to see him, but she hadn't been able to sleep from the worry that her little girl might need her.
Peter is sitting cross-legged on the floor holding her daughter and sing to her in a language Wendy didn't understand. His back is to the door and he doesn't notice her until she touches his shoulder.
When Peter looks up at her Wendy sees something ancient and alien in his eyes. Then she blinks and he's back to being the same Peter she remembers from her childhood.
"Hello Wendy lady. " He said with a soft smiles.
"Hello Peter." She said in return.
"Shes's special. Take care of her." Peter says, handing the baby over. "Goodbye Wendy."
He is out the window and gone beforeWendy can speak.
"Goodbye Peter." Wendy says.
Wendy brings up Peter to her brothers one more time but the look they give her makes her cringe. She tells them it was a dream she had and lets it go.
It doesn't matter anymore. She has to grow up now and she knows she'll never see Peter again.

Into a Gargoyle you will transform.
At your will, will it be done
As thanks for this battle won.
Puck (or another Avalonian) grants Elisa the ability to become a Gargoyle whenever she wants. Up to you if the Gargoyles get the same deal with becoming human.

Finally they had to listen to anthropological reasons for why the stories were incorrect, aside from magic and such.
But despite all that, Parker had a great time, Bones now had a minor understanding of a lot of his jokes and referances and Booth was relieved that he had been able to spend the entire day with his son without an emergency call from the FBI.
Disney movies were only interesting for so long but Booth would gladly sit through a month long marathon if he could have more days like this.
