Saturday Adopt a Lonely Prompt Day
Mar. 28th, 2009 08:08 amMorning folks!
Sorry for the two late days in a row. Today is Saturday, which means it's lonely prompt day!
But, to shake things up a little, let's make today a "seconding" day. As was suggested during the poll, go find a lonely prompt or two and second them.
Please comment with the original prompt and original prompter, and a link to the original prompt. Just click on the "link" link under the comment, copy the URL and paste it in.
When you write the seconded prompt, please post it on the original post, not today's.
Sound like fun?
The contest continues through tonight at midnight (Pacific time). It may take your mods some time to sort out the counting and such, but we'll get back to you on who won as soon as we can.
Go forth and write!

Date: 2009-03-28 08:54 pm (UTC)It wasn't that he had changed, and he still gave the relationship a snowball's chance in hell at longevity, but he stopped fighting what he wanted and occasionally made more than half-hearted attempt at preventing himself from sabotaging the happiness they both were discovering.
For the most part, he had moved in to her house. There was just as many flashy pairs of Nike's and Chucks in her closet as pairs of high heels. There were just as many half and quarter filled vicodin bottles in amongst her assortment of vitamins and PMS relievers in her medicine cabinet. His books, magazines and journals cohabitated with hers on shelves, coffee table and floor. She continuously berated him on that- soon Rachel would be crawling and that would constitute a hazard.
Rachel. He had almost called it quits when the squalling infant was brought into the mix. He didn't share, but she seemed to find as much time for him as she did her and he was coming around. They bonded over music, Rachel immediately hushing whenever he played his guitar, her large brown eyes would watch him intently.
Cuddy herself had worried what adding the baby girl to the mix would do to them, but she wanted it all- career, baby and man and she wasn't going to let this opportunity pass by. If House wasn't going to stick around, there were other men. There might not be a chance at another baby. She laid her worries to rest one frantic afternoon when she arrived home to relieve the babysitter only to find no one there. Her calls to the babysitter going straight to voicemail she panicked. A call finally went through and the woman informed her she had been sent home by 'that man'. House had not endeared himself to her. She raced over to House's apartment and found him sitting at his piano with Rachel safetly tucked in one of his arms. He was tapping out 'itsy bitsy spider' one handed on the keys and singing a slightly altered and somewhat questionable version of the song to her.
It was several months later when Rachel was beginning to crawl that Cuddy confronted him about the vials of pills that were scattered all over her house. She couldn't have that, wouldn't have that, not with a baby crawling around. He thought she was being unreasonable and told her so. Rachel was tiny and just crawling around, his pills were kept safetly up high. He scowled when she asked about what happened to Hector. She told him that she understood he needed the medication, but he needed to cut back, not be so reliant upon it.
It was a testament to his committment to her and to Rachel that he was sitting listening to this new age nut job tell him that a combination of yoga, meditation and the foul smelling tea the hippy freak was trying to pour down his throat would help manage his pain.
The fact Cuddy caught him one morning sitting on a yoga mat attempting to meditate after calling said hippy freak a fraudulant shyster spoke volumes as well. He smirked as he watched Cuddy slowly back out of the room. She hadn't seen the earbud of his iPod he had running from his ear, down the inside of his shirt.
He had gathered up all the vials of pills though, stashed a few in places even Cuddy couldn't reach and taken the rest back to his place and was more careful about taking them in her presence.
