5 Lives Kurt Hummel Never Lived (3/3)

Blaine Anderson, Jedi Knight and defender of the Galatic Republic, narrows his eyes as he brandishes his lightsaber, the blue blade lighting up the otherwise abandoned hangar bay. "Kurt," he says, a warning tone in his voice, "don't do this."

"Everyone has to choose sides, Blaine," Kurt says as he strides into the bay, his dark cloak billowing behind him. He's teeming with dark energy, and Blaine swears that Kurt's gotten hotter since the last time he saw him -- something about that crazy hair or maybe it's the confident swagger of his hips. It could even be-

Blaine severs his internal thoughts with a forceful shake of his head, and he grips the handle of his lightsaber harder, trying to focus. Kurt is his enemy now; whatever feelings they might have shared as Jedi trainees, that's behind them. Blaine is a Jedi Knight, a warrior of the Light, and Kurt has thrown his lot in with Skywalker and Palpatine, becoming a Sith.

"They'll turn against you, you know," Blaine says, his heart hurting at the thought. "Once you've outlived your usefulness, Vader and Palpatine will kill you."

Kurt scoffs, and a cruel smirk plays across his face. "Oh, Blaine. Such a silly, narrow-minded boy. You don't see the whole picture."

The world seems to slow then, the hangar bay going dark, and Blaine squints, trying to stay on alert, ready to combat whatever Kurt throws at him. He lets out a startled gasp when Kurt suddenly disppears, and then nearly jumps out of his skin when he feels warm breath on his ear.

"Join me." The words are like silky caresses against Blaine's skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake, and an involuntary shudder races through him. "Vader and Palpatine would never see it coming. You and me, we're unstoppable, Blaine, you know that. We work best when we work together."

Blaine can feel his blood boiling with desire under his skin, and he drags his tongue over parched lips, swallowing against a throat that's gone dry. It's appealing, the idea of being with Kurt, but at what cost? "No," he gasps. "We made a vow. We took an oath to defend the light and all that is good in this galaxy. I won't turn my back on that now."

His back suddenly feels cold, the warmth of Kurt's body drawn away, and he shivers, swallowing again. "Kurt-"

"You had your chance, Blaine," Kurt snarls somewhere in the darkness. "You'll regret not taking my offer someday."

"Kurt!" Blaine shouts, heart aching as he whirls around, desperately seeking his lover. The hangar is empty once more though; he extinguishes his lightsaber, plunging the room into total darkness, and he bows his head, weeping in silence for a moment. There's a small kernal of hope though -- Kurt didn't kill him. Force willing, maybe Blaine can draw Kurt back to the light.

He'll die trying.
