I thought that introduction and characterization of Lori totally fit in with the show. Putting the Sentinel/Guide part aside, she was acting like a bitter/jealous girlfriend or something. Danny and Steve were friends long before her and she thinks that because she's good on paper, that everyone should just step aside and let her and Steve be together. And she total stuck her nose where it didn't belong (like on the show when she tried to get into Danny's head within hours of them meeting each other).
