Hello all. [livejournal.com profile] sycophantastic here, your guest host for the week. On our first day, the theme is Dialog Prompt. You can prompt the first line of dialog, the last line, something outrageous just to see if it someone is brave enough to run with it, or something intriguing, funny, mysterious, etc. Just keep in mind that the prompt has to include actual dialog you want to be found somewhere in the fill.

Please keep these rules in mind:
  • Only three prompts for the same fandom & only five prompts in a row (though if one of your prompts is filled, you can prompt again).
  • No spoilers in your prompts for at least a week after the airdate/release.
  • Warn for any spoilers for your fic in bold and leave at least three spaces before the text.
  • Prompt formatting examples (because proper formatting for the code monkeys is good manners):
  • Supernatural, Dean/Castiel + Sam + any, first lines: "The hell was that noise?" "Dean, don't freak out, but Cas just kind of...appeared in the back seat. Unconscious. And naked."
  • Hawaii Five-0, Steve/Danny, "I swear to god you were cheating. You must have cheated. The only way we play another game is if you stop cheating."
  • Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, "Well, at the time, you didn't really...the curse was making you...I swear, you are tied to the bed for a very good reason."

  • Nothing grab your interest? That's alright, there are plenty of Lonely Prompts out there. Feel free to check them out. Aaaand that's your cue. Go fill those prompts!

    "The hell was that noise?"

It came from behind them - a loud pop followed by a sort of squelching. Dean was too busy driving; he glanced in the rear view mirror but nothing was appearing in the back window worthy of making such a noise. Meanwhile, Sam had twisted in his seat, and he had much better success at identifying the source of the noise. "Uh, Dean?"

    "Mm?"

"Don't freak out, but, uh, Cas just kind of... appeared in the back seat."

Dean glanced in the mirror again. "I don't see him."

    "Unconscious."

"Oh." It was a twisty road, but nonetheless Dean tried to turn in his seat. He managed to sight a big toe and was still working on why he could see a big toe before Sam explained it all.

    "And naked."

"Shit!" Dean slammed the steering wheel to the right to keep on the road. The Impala screeched a bit, but turned elegantly and kept on going, God bless her.

Sam was still staring. Dean glanced at him. "Perv."

"Uh. Sorry." Sam faced front. "It's like a car wreck, you know, you--"

    "Can't look away, I'm sure."

"Hey, it's the first time I've seen him naked. Maybe you're used to it by now, but--"

    "What?"

Sam shrugged and grinned. "I mean, you're always undressing each other with your eyes, I just figured--"

"Sammy, you're my brother and I love you, but some days your priorities are just all out of whack. We have a passed-out angel in the back seat and all you can think about is what he's not wearing."

Sam took a breath, but he had nothing to say to that. He stared at Dean with wide eyes.

Dean shrugged off his coat. "Here, toss that on him. We'll need to get to a motel or something so we can figure out what did this to him."

This isn't exactly the way Sam expected his brother to react. But looking at the way Dean's face darkened, his brow inching down into a V of determination, he realized this was the only way Dean could react.

And watching Dean sit by the bed later, watching Castiel's face for any signs of life, Sam realized he hadn't overestimated Dean's feelings for Castiel at all.

"Accuse me of lying all you want, but Myka is in real danger!" - The British woman's voice was tired, marking how long this discussion had been going on.

"How can you possibly expect us to trust you?"

"I don't expect you to trust me, I expect you to help me save Myka."

    Pete spoke up:

"We should've had listened to Artie since the beginning."

Then Helena heard a voice she'd never heard before:

    "Do you care about Myka?"

    "I do."

"Then I'll help you." – Steve Jinks got up and followed her out of the Warehouse.

    "Why are you helping me?"

"Because she loves you. And trusts you."

    "How do you know?"

"We talked about who we loved. I told her things I'd never told Claudia, because she understood."

"Are you in love with Pete?"

"Yes; but now isn't the time for that, let's save the woman you love."

"Thank you for being such a good friend to Myka."

"Thank you for letting me help her."

    "H.G! You came!"

    "I wouldn't leave you, Love."

"How did you manage to save me?"

    "I had some help."

    Steve entered the room:

    "Hello Myka."

    "Steve. No one else?"

"Sorry. No one else trusted her."

    "But you did. Why?"

"She said she cared about you."

(You left this prompt just to tempt me, I swear. ;) )

    ~

“Does it bother you that they think I'm crazy?”

Mal sighs, wide awake now instead of drifting off to a pleasant sleep like he'd wanted to be. He admits River makes a mighty pretty picture, stretched out naked next to him in bed, but she could use a lesson or two on the proper things to say at a time like this.

“I know you ain't quite right in the head, darlin', but I reckon you ain't much wronger'n the rest of us either,” he says, both trying to placate her and telling what he sees as the honest truth. Wouldn't be sleeping with her if he saw it any other way.

“True,” she says, looking wide awake and full of mischief to boot. “You do knowingly accept jobs from people who have intentions of killing you.”

“Hey now, I didn't mean me! Meant more like Jayne, way he went off the other day crying 'bout that broken gun of his.”

“That was logical. It was a nice gun.”

“That ain't the point,” he grumbles, getting involved in this ridiculous discussion despite himself. “Or the way Kaylee 'n the doc keep messing 'round in the engine room? Exposin' parts that sensitive when there's burning hot metal bits spinning about not three feet away, how does that make any kind of good sense?”

“Some people enjoy an element of risk in sex.”

“Yeah, well, not me. I got no issue with keepin' private and comfortable in here,” he says, yawning and pulling her up against him.

“Your bed does make an optimal location,” she says, her mouth curving as she looks up at him. “But you should take into account the fact that you're currently sharing it with a woman who could kill you with one hand. If I wanted to, I mean.” Her voice lowers, thickens, takes on a teasing bit of honey-roughness. “You ain't quite right either, you know.”

“Fair enough, darlin'. But aren't you glad of it?”

He doesn't need to be a reader himself to know that the way she kisses him means she's very glad, indeed.

Nate had called three minutes ago. They had another job. Time limit. They needed to move now.

He’d told Nate he’d be on his way. He’d gotten so very good at not letting his voice sound like…

He was fine. He’d taken plenty worse beatings in his life.

He ignored the part of his head that told him he’s not as young as he used to be. Flores had told him just a couple months ago that he was glad Eliot had settled down with the team in his old age. He’d only been half joking. It was Flores Eliot had told his theory, that one time right after the Davids fiasco when his ribs were still hurting, that Hitters aged like dogs. Seven years for ever year.

That made him what? Over a hundred.

Maybe he had to rework that whole age ratio. Yeah.

He felt like an arthritic old man but he could blame most of that on a carnival fun house which was really misnamed.

And a damn carnival ride. That was another thing to add to his list of things he was never doing ever again.

He wasn’t sure how much time had passed, he just had this sudden sense of panic that he was going to be late to Nate’s and he was never late and the others would notice and shit he didn’t know how much time had passed which was a really fucking bad sign.

Maybe he should call in sick.

    He dismissed the idea.

He pushed himself to his feet and went to the kitchen. His hips burned, near dislocation but not enough to actually warrant bed rest, his knee was white hot lead under his skin where he’d relocated it. His right hand was swollen despite attempts to ice it down but his left was still functional enough to make tea.

He’d make himself some tea, get dressed, and then go over to Nate’s. He could blame a busted hand.

Be pissed off enough and they’d all laugh it off. The trick was getting Hardison to laugh. The
    others would follow his lead.

For you, m'dear, because you are so fantabulous! Hope you like it, hon! ^_^

Remy after a fight was a thing of beauty. Logan wasn't one for over-sentimentality, but, really. The mussed hair, the shining eyes and bitten, spit-slick bottom lip... Not to mention the way his body was heaving as the kid panted for breath, dragging in lungfuls of it as he stared at Logan and almost vibrated with leftover adrenaline.

“You're good, kid,” Logan said as he re-lit his chewed up cigar. He breathed in – Remy and blood and the sharp tang of tobacco. Nice.

“You doubted me?” Remy asked with a coy look from under his eyelashes at Logan.

“Well, you ain't the best I've ever seen, but you ain't bad.”

Remy laughed, deep and throaty, and stepped over a softly groaning body towards Logan.

“Fifteen years and y'still the same ol' grumpy boy, ain'tcha,” Remy said. His body swayed a little closer. “Fifteen years and y'ain't even said 'hello'.”

“What makes you think I remember you?” Logan asked; his mouth curved in a vicious smirk around the stub between his teeth.

“Oh,” Remy said lightly, flicking his gaze down and back up the length of Logan's body. “Y'ain't forgotton me, cher. Not even the littlest bit.”

Logan sniffed at the air – tilted his head at the sound of approaching sirens. “Got a high opinion of yerself,” he said, taking in the kid again. Certainly seemed eager to please – it matched with what Logan remembered from all those years ago when he'd woken up with a killer headache, the vaguest recollection of a woman and some skinny little thing with a long coat and a sharp grin swearing up and down that he was a friend.

Remy's older, now, than in Logan's patchwork quilt of memories. Obviously. A little thicker in the shoulders – muscle, more than fat, meaning that he was still able to keep up with Logan in the fight – and there were fine lines about the corners of his mouth and eyes. Not so much a kid, then.

“Best be running along, then, kid,” Logan said, already moving off himself. Remy fell into step with him. “Those firecracker cards of yours affected yer ears, then?”

“Them lil' ol' firecrackers ain't the only thing Remy can do.”

Logan snorted and sped up a little. Just because he had no compunctions about jumping into a fight when it was five on one and the one seemed a bit too familiar, didn't mean he wanted to get messed up with the cops. The Professor tended to frown on things like that and it made life around the mansion...uncomfortable.

“You all talk and no action, kid?”

“Oh, cher,” Remy said. His body swayed in a little closer, radiating warmth along the line of Logan's body. “One a' these days Remy gon' show you 'sactly what he capable of.”

“Lookin' forward to it,” Logan huffed in amusement, shooting a sidelong glance at the younger man. Remy was smirking, cocksure, still flushed from the fight and still utterly gorgeous with it.

“Gotta room jus' up the street. Y'be interested in havin' a little drink wit' Remy? A lil' reminiscing about ol' times?”

“Could be,” Logan said, swallowing a grin, and Remy chuckled, pressed against Logan briefly as they passed out into the wider street beyond the mouth of the alley and the crowds.

(in this 'verse; Kurt&Blaine are serial killers in love. Kyle is their son (Kurt's biologically, Blaine's by adoption).

    Two parts due to length.

    ...

Kyle's best friend Tommy's dad is in jail for getting in a bar fight and shoving someone too hard. The man landed wrong, hit his head, and died.

Tommy's dad had been an Army Ranger, and he should've known better than to get in a fight with a drunk civilian, no matter what the man said about Tommy's mom.

Tommy visits his dad every week, and he'll be getting out soon. Kyle's not sure what to think - it was an accident. But Tommy's dad killed someone.

How's he supposed to feel about that?

    .

"You feel sad," Papa says when he asks. "It's very sad that Tommy's father accidently ended the life of someone he never meant to. You feel compassion because the guilt must terrible for the man."

    That, Kyle can do.

    .

Kyle's girlfriend Dana has an older sister she hasn't seen in almost twenty years. The older sister is much older; she was in high-school when Dana was born. Dana always explains that they have different dads, and their mom was very young, whenever anyone asks about her sister and the very wide age gap.

Kyle doesn't think it's that weird; his Uncle Cooper is a decade older than Dad. He was almost in high-school when Dad was born.

Dana doesn't talk about her sister that much, and very few people ever ask.

Dana's sister was babysitting this kid, once, she tells Kyle one night, three weeks after graduation. They've been friends since pre-K and dating for two years.

Willa was babysitting a neighbor's kid, Dana says, head tucked into Kyle's chest. He doesn't interrupt, just listens. There was... she was on the phone with her boyfriend and the kid was upstairs, and there was this noise. She - her boyfriend had just confessed to sleeping with her friend, so she didn't check. Dana hesitates, fingers clenching on Kyle's shirt. He keeps quiet, so she continues, The kid, he couldn't have been more than five, Kyle, and he'd fallen in the bathroom. Hit his head on tub. Even if she'd checked right away, even if she'd been there - she couldn't have done anything. But she... I don't remember Willa any other way except broken.

Dana sobs for the rest of the night, and Kyle just holds her.
