Hello, everyone. I’m
jupiter2932/schweinsty and your host for the week. As a friendly reminder about our schedule: Lonely Prompts and sharing completed fills are encouraged on Sundays, while new themes and prompts are posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day. We'll share our posts on DW and LJ for everyone's convenience. Keep an eye out for notifications!
With that being said, today's theme is AUs. Prompts should involve some AU aspect--anything from a minor canon divergence to a coffeeshop AU, go wild.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate: Atlantis, Radek Zelenka+/any, Coffee Shop AU
+ Killjoys, Johnny Jaqobi + D'avin Jaqobi/Dutch, D'avin runs away from home and takes Johnny with him earlier
+ Torchwood, Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones, the Tenth Doctor fixes Jack
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community. Fret not, DW members, we are working on a way to search through old entries for prompts for you!
While the use of LJ's advanced search options is available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.
If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so…and spread the word!

Date: 2024-02-21 07:19 pm (UTC)Indeed, he had already grown quite bored of the conversation, and so when he heard his name being spoken, he glanced up and murmured, “What was that?”
Dongmin, with Rose now seated on his lap, sighed heavily. “I asked if you had seen our portrait? We sat for it a couple of weeks ago. I meant to show you, but we’ve been so busy.” He gestured at a shelf, upon which lay a new frame that Bin had not noticed prior. He narrowed his eyes at it, and then realized it was Dongmin, his wife, Angela, and their child.
He pointed at it and said, “It’s blurry.”
“Rose did keep moving a bit,” Dongmin muttered, apologetically. Rose appeared not so apologetic, and she happily clapped her hands as if she somehow understood that she had been at fault for ruining their expensive photograph.
Myungjun looked upon the photograph with interest. “Imagine being immortalized in such a way. Future generations will be able to see exactly what you looked like, Dongmin.”
“Yes, down to his ugly nose and all,” Bin mumbled.
Dongmin frowned and put a hand up to his nose. “My nose isn’t ugly,” he defended.
Both vampires ignored him. Myungjun asked, “Could we get our photograph taken?”
“You could,” Dongmin responded, and he dropped his hand to hold onto Rose, who was wiggling a bit in his grasp. “I can put you in contact with the man who took my own. The photographers are a…less conservative bunch than you might think.” He lowered his voice and then put his hands over Rose’s ears, as if she might be able to suddenly comprehend Korean. “One of the apprentice photographers gave me a calling card. He wishes to photograph me naked.”
“I can do that in your place,” Bin responded. “I look fantastic naked.”
Dongmin looked affronted. “Well, so do I, but it definitely isn’t proper. I’m a family man now, after all.”
Bin chuckled. “You often engage in threesomes still, please do not make me laugh.”
“And please do not be crude in front of my sweet Rose,” Dongmin snapped.
Myungjun, who did not care to join in on the argument, asked, “How are these even made? Does it steal a piece of your soul?”
“Oh, come now,” Bin laughed. “Myungjun, please stop being so superstitious. It is likely…” And then he stopped to think about how photographs were taken, and he realized he would not be able to pose nude in front of some young, handsome photographer. “Ah, it’s made using mirrors, is it not? Or silver, at least, of some sort.”
“Mirrors?” Myungjun blinked. “Really?”
“These daguerreotypes are always made using mirrors,” Bin responded.
“It’s a tintype, actually,” Dongmin corrected. “But I think it does use mirrors. Or silver.”
“If it uses tin, then maybe we would show in the photograph, but the use of mirrors in general –” He sighed.
Dongmin glanced back and forth between Myungjun and Bin. “Do you not have a tin mirror that is able to show your reflection? If it’s tin–”
“They might use tin in the process, but if silver is still an element then we will likely not appear,” Bin murmured, noting with displeasure that Myungjun was now frowning as he stared upon the family photograph. “Regardless, I am not willing to try my luck, for imagine if some poor sod had to develop the photo to find empty seats or floating clothes – that’s how Myungjun found out I was a vampire in the first place.”
Myungjun nodded his head, finally turning away from the portrait. He looked brooding. He looked thoughtful. Bin wanted to know what was going on inside his mind, but he had a few more quips to make at Dongmin’s expense first.
“One of your eyes is looking the wrong way. I think the–”
“Yes, thank you, Bin,” Dongmin snapped, and Bin felt pretty satisfied.
They left later that night, as Rose was growing sleepy and as Dongmin himself could barely keep his eyes open. Bin was not yet prepared for rest, however, as it was still not yet close to dawn, and so he asked, “Shall we travel down to the Hudson River, my dearest Myungjun? Or shall you go gobble up one of your tasty cats? Though, I don’t know how tasty they are, I think humans taste better–”
“I want to draw you,” Myungjun suddenly announced, pulling Bin downstairs to their apartment. “Please.”
Bin was confused. Myungjun was very much a skilled artist and had drawn plenty of landscapes before. He had recently been dabbling in paint more and more – but Bin did not think he had drawn portraits too often.
“Well, I would look good on paper,” Bin admitted. “But what is this about?”
Myungjun closed their apartment door behind them and sat Bin on the couch. He didn’t answer – instead, he ran off to get his supplies, and he returned with his easel and canvas and a trunk full of his drawing utensils.
“How…how shall I pose?” Bin asked.
“Sit up straight. Don’t loosen that ascot, it’s very handsome on you.”
“It’s a bit annoying–”
“I bought it for you,” Myungjun pointed out.
Bin sighed and let his hands drop to his lap. He sat up as straight as could be, watching as Myungjun readied his canvas and mixed his paints.
“How long shall this take?” he asked.
Myungjun shrugged his shoulders. “Let me just make the general outline. Then I want to spend a few hours on your expression.”
“A few hours?”
“I’m sure Dongmin sat just as long for his portrait to be taken,” Myungjun argued, and he began to sketch. “Stop complaining so much.”
“I shan’t. I love to complain. And photographs don’t take that long, just a couple of minutes.” He eyed the glass bottle of whiskey on his bookcase. “I want to drink in a bit.”
“I’ll allow it once I get your outline. Please just…” Myungjun sighed. “I don’t like the idea that we will never be remembered in future generations. I understand we’re vampires and thus immortal so it’s not like we will need remembering, and I also understand that we shall have no children so there is no one to remember us by, anyway. But…” He concentrated, quiet for a few seconds, then continued, “Do you not wish sometimes that you can see yourself, immortalized forever on some sheet of paper? Whether it’s by the…what was it, daguerreotype?”
“That’s right, but the one Dongmin has is a tintype.”
“Right. Whether it’s with one of those cursed, soul-stealing contraptions–”
“Honestly,” Bin sighed.
Myungjun continued as if he had not been interrupted, “--or if it’s just a nice drawing on a sheet of paper, I want you to remain in this world forever.”
“And you think I shall not remain here in this physical form?”
Myungjun bit down on his lip. Once again, he didn’t answer for a little bit, and when he did, his voice was quiet. “I am a vampire hunter, despite being a vampire. I have caused the deaths of many vampires. As immortal as they are, something as ridiculous as silver, or wood to their hearts, or water blessed by a priest, or even the sun – we have many painful ways to die. As much as it pains me to say, sometimes I believe we will both die in such a manner. We’ve both had brushes with death before, and…one day, death will catch up to us.” He sketched a few lines and added, “But if I have portraits of us, even if they are drawn, at least we will leave this world not completely forgotten. We’ll leave this world with a little memory of our immortal lives.”
The sentiment was sweet. Bin could not find it within himself to make any rude or sarcastic remarks, as he knew full well his lover was pouring out his heart into his speech, and into his artwork. Besides, Bin did agree. One day, he knew they would die. He was not sure what manner of death it would be, but he knew he would experience a painful demise, as all vampires seemed to.
“As long as I am able, though,” he murmured, and Myungjun glanced up at him, “as long as I am able, I will live and protect you with everything I have.”
Myungjun smiled softly. “You promise?”
“Of course,” Bin responded. “I promise.”
Myungjun took a deep, shuddering breath and nodded his head, then he returned to his sketch. He looked a bit teary-eyed, but Bin did not comment on it and Myungjun did not cry. “Now,” Myungjun said, “I’m only going to do your chest up for today. I am afraid I’m not good yet with the human form to trust myself to draw the rest of you. Just your expression, really. Perhaps later this week, we could do some anatomy drawings.” He gave a little smirk. “So you can pose nude for me, if not for that photographer.”
Bin perked up. “I can pose nude?” he asked.
“I would love to see you pose nude. It would also help me– I said later this week, now put your damn ascot back on,” Myungjun barked, and Bin begrudgingly obliged.
He hoped he could leave this world with plenty of nude portraits.
