templefugate and your host for the week. In honor of yesterday being Monday, today's theme is everything goes wrong. Prompts can be anything related to things going wrong/not working out for characters. How angsty and/or melodramatic things get is entirely up to you, as is the scale of the problem characters face.
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here. Unfortunately, DW doesn’t have a cut tag, so use your best judgment when it comes to spoilers.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ DC, Jason Todd & Bruce Wayne, he comes back to life to find Bruce a broken man

Fret not, DW members; we are working on a way to search through old entries for prompts for you! As of right now, the best way to search for a lonely prompt on DW is to search the community’s archive, which can be found [[HERE]].
While the use of LJ's advanced search and DW’s archive are options, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.
As a friendly reminder about our schedule, Lonely Prompts and sharing completed fills are encouraged on Sundays, while new themes and prompts are posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Date: 2024-06-08 04:25 am (UTC)The meatball, speared on the fork, was heading upward from plate to mouth when the sneeze happened. Just that quickly, the meatball sailed off the fork and headed for Danny’s tie like a heat-seeking missile. It hit the blue silk with a splat, bounced off, and ended up on the floor next to Danny’s chair.
Danny looked down at the marinara splotch on the tie, then up at the man who’d just assaulted him with a meatball.
“You have got to be kidding me.”
Steve blew his nose on his paper napkin. “Sorry.”
“Sorry. He’s sorry.” Danny looked at his tie again. The marinara was flecked through with oregano. He’d spent all day working on that sauce. “My mom sent me this tie. It’s a nice tie. It was a nice tie.”
“Just clean it,” Steve suggested. He tossed the used napkin into the garbage across the room with unnecessary flair.
“Silk tie, Steven. It would need to be dry cleaned.”
“So dry clean it.”
“You know what? That’s not the point. The point is no-one outside of a stupid children’s song launches a meatball with a sneeze. Conclusion? You did that on purpose.”
And now that stupid song would be stuck in his head for days. The world’s lamest earworm.
On top of spaghetti
All covered with cheese
I lost my poor meatball
When somebody sneezed
Steve frowned. “Why would I purposefully throw a meatball at you?”
“You’ve had a well-documented vendetta against my ties since day one, and don’t you deny it!”
“No-one in Hawaii wears a tie.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I like to look like a professional.”
“You’re never gonna fit in here looking like you’re from the mainland.”
“Who says I want to fit in?”
Truth was, Danny had been wearing his ties less because Steve was right. Not that he’d ever admit it. Hawaii had a laid-back vibe in a lot of respects, and it wasn’t like Danny couldn’t be professional without the tie. If he started wearing board shorts on the job, that would be cause for concern.
Which didn’t excuse Steve from ruining his new silk tie.
“A sneeze is involuntary, Danno. You can’t blame me for a sneeze.”
“For all I know, sneezing on command is part of SEAL training.”
Steve shook his head, but he looked amused. “I don’t think that would be a particularly useful skill, all things considered.”
“That doesn’t make you any less culpable,” Danny said, wagging an accusatory finger at Steve. “You’ll be paying for the dry cleaning.”
“Whatever you say.” Steve applied himself to his dinner, this time using the fork to break up the remaining meatball on his plate. It was as good as a confession as far as Danny was concerned.
Before he returned to his own dinner, Danny loosened the tie and carefully pulled it over his head, mindful of the marinara. He glanced over at Steve, saw the self-satisfied smirk, and rolled his eyes.
“You owe my mother an apology, too,” he said, draping the tie over the back of the adjacent empty chair.
“It’s just a tie,” Steve said dismissively.
It wasn’t just a tie for either of them, but for different reasons. To prove his own point, Danny undid the top button of his shirt and watched the tip of Steve’s ear flush pink.
Two could play that game.
“And make sure you clean up that meatball, Steven.”
