Hey, y'all! I hope you're having a good Saturday thus far. :3 It's time for this week's Free for All. There are no themes to follow for prompts or fills. Be free, and have fun! ✎
Just a few rules:
1. No more than five prompts in a row.
2. No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
3. Use the character's full name and the fandom's full name for ease in adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
4. No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here. Unfortunately, DW doesn’t have a cut tag, so use your best judgment when it comes to spoilers.
5. If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
6. If your story has possible triggers, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Are today's prompts not catching your eye? No worries, because we have plenty of older prompts that just might do the trick! You can browse through the comm's calendar archive (here on LJ or here on DW) for themed and Free For All posts, or perhaps check out Sunday posts for Lonely Prompt requests. (Or, you can be like me, and try to save interesting prompts as you see 'em... and then end up with multiple text doc files full of [themes + links + prompts] that you can easily look through and search for keywords.) Multiple fills for one prompt are welcome, by the way! Oh, and you are very likely to find some awesome fills to read as well, and wouldn't it be nice to leave a comment on those lovely little writing distractions? ~_^
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3, please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection.
A friendly reminder about our 2024 posting schedule: Themed posts for new prompts go up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day for new prompts of any flavor. Sundays are for showing Lonely Prompts some love, whether by requesting for someone to adopt them or by sharing any fills that you've recently completed. As of February, posting will be done on both DW and LJ, with the LJ version of the comm periodically imported to DW.

Date: 2024-06-15 12:50 pm (UTC)Fill Chicago Med Dean/Hannah
Date: 2024-06-30 08:01 pm (UTC)Maggie’s voice was low and desperate and Hannah turned to her straight away, closing the window on the nurses station computer. “What’s wrong?” she asked, taking in with one swift glance the look of panic on the other woman’s face, the tension that hung around her shoulders like a shroud.
“You have got to do something about Dean.” Maggie all but hissed the words at her. “He’s halfway through a double, he’s impatient, snapping at staff, terrorising my nurses…”
“And what do you want me to do?” Hannah held up both hands and Maggie gave her a look.
“I do not want to know the dirty details.” Hannah’s jaw dropped, the phrasing telling her quite a bit about how stressed Maggie was and, therefore, the kind of mood Dean was in. “But I need you to work your magic on him.”
Hannah sighed, checked her watch. “Where is he?”
“Coming up behind you.” Maggie turned slightly so that Dean couldn’t see her face. “But he’s so hangry I don’t even think he’ll listen to you.”
Hannah got where she was going straight away. “Reverse uno?”
Maggie's eyes gleamed. “Reverse uno.” A quick jerk of her chin and Hannah knew she was up.
“Maggie, I told you: I’m fine.”
“And I’m telling you, you need to take a break.” Maggie’s frustration came through in every syllable. “You look like you’re ready to collapse.”
Hannah frowned, a little taken aback. Maggie just shrugged, putting on her most innocent face as the trap was well and truly sprung. Dean appeared beside them, face drawn in a frown as he looked down at Hannah. “What’s going on?” he demanded.
“Nothing,” Hannah said, at the same time as Maggie said, “Doctor Asher here is trying to prove that doctors make the worst patients.”
Dean’s head swung towards Hannah and his frown increased. “Are you okay?”
“I just got a little dizzy, I’m fine.” Hannah waved one hand airily but lifted the other to knead her forehead.
Which was enough for Dean. “Sure, you’re fine,” he grumbled, his tone indicating the exact opposite. He directed his gaze to Maggie. “I’m overdue a break, we’re going for lunch.” Then, to Hannah, “I saw that noodle truck you like was outside earlier, let’s go, no arguing.”
Resting his hand on the small of Hannah’s back, her feet barely touching the ground, he headed them towards the doctors lounge to grab jackets and wallets. She barely enough time to glance back over her shoulder, receive a grin and a thumbs up from Maggie who looked very pleased with herself.
She thought she’d got away with it until they were halfway through their lunch, sitting opposite each other at a picnic table across from the hospital. “You’re awfully chipper for someone who was on the point of collapse a few minutes ago,” he observed.
Hannah shrugged, eyes wide and innocent. “Must be the food. Or the company.”
It was batting her eyelashes, she thought later, that gave it away. Because that was what made him laugh, shake his head. “Nice bit of Masterpiece Theatre between you and Maggie back there. Reverse Uno-ing me?” Hannah’s eyes widened and he continued with a grin, “You know, if you two ever decided to use your powers for evil, you could take over the world.”
“Fine.” Hannah threw up her hands but she was smiling too. “Your bad mood was freaking everyone out; it was this or mass resignations.”
“And you knew I wouldn’t care about my own low blood sugar but I’d be worried about yours.”
There was nothing Hannah could say to that because that had been exactly their thinking. Post kidney transplant, Dean was better than he had been but his default position was always to soldier on. He was far more concerned about those he cared about and Hannah knew she was at the top of that list. “Hey, a little lunch date isn’t the worst thing either.”
“No.” He reached across the table, took her hand in his. His fingers squeezed hers lightly, his eyes as warm as his touch. “It’s not.”
