Hi! I’m
brumeier, and this week we’re going to be filling prompt themes using 100 words or any multiple of 100. Today’s theme is AUs. Your prompts and fills can be any kind of Alternate Universe scenario – coffee shop, spies, mermaids...anything you can think of!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here. Unfortunately, DW doesn’t have a cut tag, so use your best judgment when it comes to spoilers.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name] Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Any, Any, what happens when one main character is removed from your fandom?
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard +/ Any, John joins the expedition as a civilian, not military
+ Any, Any, high school AU
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community. Fret not, DW members; we are working on a way to search through old entries for prompts for you! As of right now, the best way to search for a lonely prompt on DW is to search the community’s archive, which can be found [[HERE]].
While the use of LJ's advanced search and DW’s archive are options, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.
As a friendly reminder about our schedule, Lonely Prompts and sharing completed fills are encouraged on Sundays, while new themes and prompts are posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day. We'll share our posts on DW and LJ for everyone's convenience. Keep an eye out for notifications!
If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so…and spread the word!

Date: 2024-08-14 02:43 am (UTC)“Welcome to the all request lunch hour with your favorite voice on the radio, DJ Jinjin! First up, we have a request from Wolfboy: Bin-hyung, I swear I’m not dating your sister. We’re just friends. This song is for you. And our friendly listener Wolfboy has requested BYOB Bring Your Own Best Friend by our very own Billlie.”
Dongmin, bless his soul, had the songs and messages cued in advance. He had a deep, pleasant voice, and he usually did the morning and afternoon news. Being in the high school’s AV club was more fun than Jinwoo had thought it would be, given that he’d joined as a last resort, having been late to club sign-ups and only having two options left. Knitting had been out of the question, though. He’d have stabbed himself on the first day.
As the lunch time DJ, his show was the most-listened to in the school, but that also meant he was forced to wolf down his lunch as fast as possible during songs so he could talk between songs.
“And that was BYOB by Billlie! Our next request is from regular listener Captain Ddana: Minhyuk-hyung, I’m sorry I threw you under the bus and made Bin-sunbae think you’re dating his sister. We’re still friends, right? This song is for you. Sorry, Minhyuk-nim. Here’s Sorry Sorry by Super Junior.”
The song rolled, and Jinwoo dove back into the kimbap his mother had made him for lunch. He bobbed his head to the catchy beat as he ate. He’d finished a roll and a half by the time the song ended, and he swigged some water to clear his throat.
“Up next is a request from Miss Moon: Bin-oppa, please don’t be mad! We can’t help who we love. Love you too, oppa! Bin-nim, here’s Oppa Oppa by Super Junior D+E.” Jinwoo blinked, not sure he’d read the title right, but he hadn’t misread it, so he started the song and slowly worked his way through the last half of a kimbap roll.
Had Miss Moon just…insulted her brother? Or actually expressed her affection for him?
The song ended, and Jinwoo checked the next request Dongmin had cued up for him.
“Thanks for everyone who’s submitted requests so far! Without you, we wouldn’t have this show. Up next is a request from listener Dal Kong: Park Minhyuk, stay away from my sister. Or else. Listen well.” Jinwoo blinked at the post, then darted a glance out the window to where Dongmin was in the producer booth, but by all appearances Dongmin was buried in one of his textbooks, absently twirling a pen. “So here’s Baby, by Rain.”
A breakup song seemed like a bit of a weird song to dedicate to someone who was chasing after your sister, but requests were requests. Jinwoo shrugged and started in on the little rice cakes his mother had given him, and then the lyrics Where are you, you bastard, hurry and pick up, If you call my girl from now on, I’ll kill you came over his headphones and he choked.
He scrambled to drink more water, pounding on his own chest till he could breathe again, which he could, by the end of the song, just barely.
“Hopefully listener Dal Kong heard the, er, first request during today’s show and everything is cleared up,” Jinwoo managed, sounding a bit breathless. Then he read the next request, and he felt his face heat. He darted another glance at Dongmin, but Dongmin had his own headphones on and was nodding to the beat of some music only he heard.
“This is from listener Bright Fox: Hi DJ Jinjin! You’re my favorite DJ in the whole wide world and I love your voice. This song is for you! This is I Like You by Day6.”
The song rolled, and Jinwoo sat back, and he listened, and he smiled.
He’d find out who Bright Fox was one day.
(Bin did a parody lip-sync to the above-mentioned Rain song for the comedy sketch show he was on one time, and I couldn't resist.)

Date: 2024-08-13 04:08 am (UTC)Fill: Double drabble, Stargate Atlantis
Date: 2024-08-13 04:37 pm (UTC)Rodney McKay strolled out of the radio station, pleased with the way the program had gone. There had been the usual doubters and jokers, but fortunately they were generally screened out and his favorite caller had once again provided a very insightful question.
As the station door shut behind him, he heard a voice say, "Thank you for answering my question again tonight."
Rodney swung round. He recognised the voice immediately and saw a very good looking man holding his hands up in the air.
"It's all right. I'm not stalking you. I happened to be in the neighborhood and thought I'd call by to say how much I enjoy your program."
"No problem." Rodney tried to look as if this was a regular occurrence, which sadly it wasn't.
"And invite you for a drink if you fancied one?"

Date: 2024-08-13 02:38 pm (UTC)"I'm sure there's something odd about that guide," Bilbo said.
"He seems very knowledgeable," Thorin replied.
"Oh, he is. There's no doubt about that. But whenever he's not working he seems to disappear off."
"I expect he likes to see places that aren't on the tourist trail."
"I suppose so. Do you think his name really is Lucas North?"

Date: 2024-08-13 04:20 pm (UTC)Fill: Spy Tour Guide Drama (Teen Wolf, Derek Hale & Stiles Stilinski, 98 words)
Date: 2024-08-14 05:33 am (UTC)Stiles Stilinski had always found something odd about Derek Hale, the gruff yet undeniably attractive tour guide who led groups through Beacon Hills’ historic sites. But when Stiles stumbled upon Derek in a hidden alleyway, whispering into a sleek earpiece, his suspicions peaked.
"You're not just a tour guide, are you?" Stiles asked, heart pounding.
Derek sighed, his cover blown. "Stiles, you have no idea what you've gotten yourself into."
Stiles grinned, always ready for adventure. "Try me."
Derek smirked, pulling him into the shadows. "Then keep up, Stilinski. There’s more to Beacon Hills than meets the eye."

Date: 2024-08-13 10:48 am (UTC)Fill: Stargate Atlantis, Evan Lorne/David Parrish (700 words)
Date: 2024-08-13 06:18 pm (UTC)He was on the spirit plane, but not his spirit plane. Evan’s visits always happened at the commune where he’d grown up, frozen in time from when he was around ten years old.
Evan got to his feet, looking around for his spirit animal or his spirit guide, but neither were forthcoming. Maybe they were tied to the spirit version of the commune? He wandered down to the shoreline, the water lapping at his bare feet. There was nothing to see ahead but open ocean. The beach itself curved around like a half moon of empty, pristine sand bordered by palm trees and dune grass.
It was beautiful, but worryingly unfamiliar.
He scratched idly at an itch on his arm for a good minute or two before looking down and seeing there was something written on his skin. Meet me at the falls.
Suddenly it all fell into place. Evan would recognize his Guide’s handwriting anywhere. And probably no other Guide could manipulate the spirit plane the way David could; the Sentinel-Guide Center was constantly calling him in to run experiments. It was the first time he’d altered Evan’s spirit plane.
He stretched out his hearing, cataloguing and dismissing all the sounds that weren’t a waterfall until he found the one that was.
Luckily, or perhaps by design, there was a sandy path that led away from the beach and deeper into the thick trees and tangled undergrowth. The roar of the waterfall grew louder the closer he got, as did the beating of his Guide’s heart, and anticipation burned low in his belly.
Eventually the path widened and led to a rocky grotto, where a waterfall emptied from two hundred feet above into a large pool below. David was in that pool up to his waist, naked torso gleaming in shades of blue.
“You found me.”
“This is nice,” Evan replied. He started stripping off his clothes as he walked to the water’s edge.
“I thought this might be a change of pace.”
Evan stepped out of his boxer briefs, cool breeze raising gooseflesh on his arms, and entered the pool. The water was pleasantly warm, though just below the surface it was cooler. He swam over to David, immediately moving in for a kiss. All the color that was missing from the spirit plane was in that kiss – joy and sunshine and a brightness that seeped bone deep.
“I think I’m falling for you,” Evan murmured in David’s ear.
“That’s a terrible pun,” David chastised, even as he swam backward to perch on a rocky ledge. He pulled Evan in for another kiss, his hands sliding down Evan’s back to grab purchase a bit lower.
Evan responded in kind, running his own hand along David’s thigh, which was slick as seal skin. “Is this just a spiritual booty call? Or did you call me here for another reason?”
“Can’t it be both?” David gave him a sly smile. “I wanted to see if they’d come if the venue changed.”
“They?” It was difficult for Evan to focus with David’s hands all over him.
And then there was a kind of rumbling in the underbrush along the side of the pool and a familiar head appeared, long trunk curling up in greeting.
Evan grinned. “There’s my girl!”
His spirit animal, a beautiful African elephant, dipped her trunk into the pool and sent a spray of water at Evan, who tipped his head back and laughed.
“This really is paradise.”
“You work too hard,” David said. “This seemed the best way to get you to take some time off.”
“You take such good care of me.” Evan nuzzled along David’s neck, breathing in the scent of him; it was like the smell in the air just after a storm, redolent of rich soil and ozone. “Let me return the favor.”
He took his time doing just that.

Date: 2024-08-13 02:57 pm (UTC)"We knew that was always going to be a possibility," Ros replied. "However, I'd really like to see if he does make that contact. Let's hope Agent Ambrose has more success."
They hurried round to the far side of the cathedral and began to walk down a tree-lined pathway. A large dog emerged from the shadows, panting slightly.
"You know where he is?" Ros asked.
The werewolf yipped and started to run away.
"Slow down!" Adam said. "We haven't all got four legs."
The werewolf huffed, but slowed to a fast trot. They followed him and found themselves close to a small courtyard, just in time to witness their suspect receiving a package from a smartly dressed woman. Immediately afterwards the two departed in different directions.
The werewolf looked at Ros, his head tipped to one side.
"Follow the woman," Ros said. "Find out where she goes and then see us at the meeting point we showed you."
The werewolf did as he had been told and was waiting for them outside McDonald's by the time they got there.

Date: 2024-08-13 02:56 pm (UTC)Fill: Prodigal Son, Malcolm Bright+Dani Powell+Gil Arroyo+JT Tarmel+Edrisa Tanaka (600 words)
Date: 2024-08-15 05:14 am (UTC)Dani did her best not to tap her foot impatiently while she waited in the transporter room. She bristled at the very idea that Captain Arroyo and his crew were insufficient to the task at hand, when their record spoke for itself.
“Coordinates locked,” Chief Trempo said briskly. “Energizing.”
Dani snapped to attention and plastered a pleasant expression on her face as the transporter platform initialized. Shimmering lights resolved into the person of the emissary Starfleet had sent to the Manhattan: Malcolm Bright.
He was younger than Dani had expected, dressed in a suit like he’d just come from a holodeck session set in the twenty-first century. His eyes were unexpectedly luminous.
“Mr. Bright. Commander Powell. Welcome aboard.” Dani didn’t miss the way his eyes moved around the room, taking it all in. “Allow me to show you to your quarters.”
“I’d like to meet with the team first, if you don’t mind.”
“Of course.”
Bright carried only one small case with him, and easily kept up with Dani’s brisk pace as they made for the turbolift. Dani contacted the bridge along the way, to alert the captain to the change of plans.
“Bridge,” Dani said once they were on the turbolift. “What is it you do, Mr. Bright? The information Starfleet sent over was a bit sketchy.”
“I’ll save my credentials for the moment, if you don’t mind.”
“Suit yourself.”
The lift doors slid open on the bridge, which Mr. Bright scanned avidly. It was as if he’d never been on a starship before, which seemed unlikely. Dani moved him along to the briefing room, where the rest of the team was waiting.
“Mr. Bright. Welcome.” Captain Arroyo shook his hand, and then made the final two introductions. “Lieutenant Tarmel. Dr. Tanaka.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet all of you.” Mr. Bright tucked his case under the table, but he didn’t sit down. Instead, he wandered around the room, looking at every little thing.
Dani exchanged an exasperated look with the captain. JT, as usual, didn’t bother trying to disguise his annoyance.
“What’s with this guy?”
Mr. Bright turned from the viewport, a grin on his face. “I’m glad you asked! Starfleet sent me here to help you apprehend Dr. Whitly. You won’t find anyone more knowledgeable of his case than I am, and I’m confident that we’ll be able to run him to ground if we work together.”
Edrisa leaned forward, elbows on the table. “I’d love to pick your brain about Dr. Whitly’s psychology. I find his case fascinating! I’ve been going through the case files, and I’m absolutely enthralled. It’s terrible, of course, but the precision, the planning… It’s just fascinating.”
“Maybe this would be a good time for those credentials,” Dani suggested.
“Good idea,” JT agreed. “What makes you such an expert?”
“Martin Whitly is my father.”
The captain and JT looked as shocked as Dani felt, but Edrisa looked excited. “Of course! Dr. Whitly had a son. You’re the one who turned him in to the authorities. That must be one heck of a story!”
“It is. Should we get started?”
Something told Dani things were about to get interesting.
