Friday One Word

Looks like everybody had a good time with yesterday's spookie-doo. Sorry I wasn't around to kick things off, but thanks again to idiosyncratic for filling in.

Today we're going to do something a little different. Well, sort of. I'm actually borrowing today's theme from one we had during the month of comment porn that inspired this community. And because a) I'm lazy, and b) amara_m already explained it well, I'm just going to C&P her introduction to the theme.

So it was suggested that we have a day where prompts are just one word and the writer gets to chose the pairing. That day is today! Comment with your one word.

Writers, please preface your comment with the fandom and pairing you've chosen to write for that word.

This is a perfect opportunity to explore the multi-fandom aspect of this comm and to get your f-lists involved. And that, as I'm sure you know, leads to more comment!porn for everybody! *g*

If you want a little more focus or direction, don't forget about the lonely prompts just waiting for someone to write them.

Harry Potter, Remus/Sirius, favorite

Sirius has always been adored.

He knows this; that means all is as it should be. He is arrogant (not unduly so, he thinks), but he is also handsome and brilliant and has no trouble attracting a crowd of admirers wherever he goes.

And that is why, he realizes, it hurts so much when James leaves him for Lily. They were best friends - always together, always up to no good. The number one place in James' life belonged to him, to Sirius - and then some red-headed little tramp had come and taken it away.

He tries very hard not to be bitter.

And perhaps that is why he went to Remus: that introverted, insecure werewolf with warm eyes and scars that went past his skin. He'd always been grateful to them for accepting his "furry little problem"; Sirius has no problem allowing him to show that gratitude.

In fact, he thinks, as Remus pulls at his hair and bites down hard on his shoulder, he'd gotten it wrong. He didn't need James; perhaps Remus had been his favorite all along.

I really liked this, especially how you conveyed Sirius's sort of see-sawing, how he's not really yet made up his mind (but has). If that makes sense :).

Ooh, thanks so much! I totally know what you mean about Sirius making up his mind but not - he really seems to me to be the kind of guy who'd take as much as he could get. Heh.

And I have serious icon envy. Shoebox. Yum. :)

I think you captured that really well - it being a Sirius thing as well as an age thing I suppose, 17 something is the time to be a bit arrogant and undecided and be okay with it, right :)?

I love Shoebox to an extent that is truly ridiculous :).

Oh yes! I really love the Marauder days - young Sirius/Remus is my favorite kind of Harry Potter fic. Hee.
