Thursday: Illness
Aug. 21st, 2025 08:05 amHello, everyone, I’m
tehlanes /
the_paradigm and your host for the week! Today's theme is illness. Prompts can be anything related to/dealing with illness: sick!fic, terminal cases, mental health, and the emotional impact these things have on our characters and their loved ones, enemies, etc. We're exploring the more difficult stuff today!
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here. Unfortunately, DW doesn’t have a cut tag, so use your best judgment when it comes to spoilers.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Final Fantasy XII, Penelo +/ any, protecting or healing a character hit with Disease in battle
+ Star Trek (Alternate Original Series), Leonard "Bones" McCoy, "Well, this a strange case..."
+ Any, Any ( +/ any), chicken soup (for the soul)
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2024 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
Not feeling any of today’s prompts? You can use LJ’s advanced search options to limit keyword results to only comments in this community. Fret not, DW members; we are working on a way to search through old entries for prompts for you! As of right now, the best way to search for a lonely prompt on DW is to search the community’s archive, which can be found [[HERE]].
While the use of LJ's advanced search and DW’s archive are options, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching in the future.
As a friendly reminder about our schedule, Lonely Prompts and sharing completed fills are encouraged on Sundays, while new themes and prompts are posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day. We'll share our posts on DW and LJ for everyone's convenience. Keep an eye out for notifications!
If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so…and spread the word!

Date: 2025-09-01 11:18 pm (UTC)But he hadn't. He'd barely been able to move, limbs leaden, head swimming. Like all the agonizing work of surviving the last twenty years had hit him at once.
It hadn't gone away after a day, or two, or three. Doctors came but couldn't find anything wrong. He's simply wrung out.
So he lays, face tucked into his pillow, still aching for normalcy.

Date: 2025-08-23 11:24 am (UTC)To Husk's surprise, Angel is asleep, two sets of arms crossed over the bar, two other arms around his head. He huffs softly, almost gently, and his own experiences with being woken up suddenly makes him be softer for a moment.
"Hey, kid," he calls, and when Angel doesn't even stir, he puts a hand on his head, scritching gently so that just maybe Angel won't wake up reaching for the first blunt object he can find. "Angel. C'mon, baby. Bar's closed."
Angel gives a groggy groan, and there's a fuckin' marimbo concert as his back cracks, but his eyes still look a little off, too heavy and gone so he frowns a little.
"S'ry, Husk. Gimme a mo', okay?"
"Kid, you take somethin'?" He doesn't really care if Angel did: Charlie will get all sad-and-pouty-princess, but Husk knows the reality in which they exist and he would never blame Angel if he had a rough night and needed something stronger than booze to take the edge off. But if he did and Angel's having a bad trip, he'd rather know so he can be prepared.
"What? Of course not, I don't even drink fucking water when I'm with Val, are you crazy?," Angel sounds offended, which would calm him, but when he finally sits up he seems dizzy.
Still frowning, he puts his hand against Angel's forehead.
"Kid, you're burning up. Didn't you notice?"
"Husky, are you calling me hot?", the idiot attemps to swoon at him, batting long eyelashes and trying to lean closer to him and he actually stumbles, all long useless limbs and Husk barely has enough time to steady him.
"If I call you what I want, Charlie's gonna have kittens."
Angel barks a laugh, but then he winces, reaching a hand to his head.
"I feel worse than hungover," Angel groans. "So it has to be poison, right?. Sinners can't get sick."
"Whoever told you that is a goddamn fucking liar," Husk snorts. "Of course we get sick. It's about making us miserable, ain't it? C'mon, I'm taking you to bed."
"You have," Angel complains as he stands up, leaning a little against him, still wobbly on those long legs of his. "The worst, worst, timing ever, d'you hear that, Husky?"
He snorts at that, not saying anything else, helping Angel until they reach his room.
Husk helps Angel open the door and he manages to stop Fat Nugget's running for its freedom outside.
"Careful, moocher," he says, pushing Angel's pet gently to the side, then helping Angel to his bed.
Angel groans again, as unsexy as Husk has ever heard him, grabbing one of his zillion pillows to wrap himself around it. The rooms' layouts are all the same, so Husk moves easily enough to get a glass with some water, fishing around until he manages to find some aspirin, leaving it by Angel's bedside table.
"You probably have a cold," Husk says, sitting on the bed besides Angel. "You need sleep and liquids. If you're still sick tomorrow, we'll see, okay?"
Angel gives another painful sounding groan. Something in Husk' chest aches a little, but he pushes it aside, instead reaching for the blankets to tuck Angel in. Angel's already half asleep, his breathing a little fast, but nothing to worry about, especially not over a fucking cold.
Which is why it makes no goddamn sense why, instead of leaving for his room, Husk curses under his breath, stealing one of Angel's pillows so he can go and lay down over the couch, just so he can make sure that Angel doesn't fucking choke on his snot.
