It's Thursday already! The last prompt that I have for you is looking back. Take a glance at the past or just over your shoulder. Remember something from ten years ago or what you had for breakfast this morning. Reflect or recall or flash back - as long as it involves looking back, it's good to go!
The rules:
-No more than five prompts in a row
-No more than three prompts per fandom
-If your prompts get answered, feel free to post more
-No spoilers in your prompt for at least a week after publication/air date
-If there are spoilers in your fic response, please warn and leave adequate space following the warning to let folks give it a pass.
Please take mercy on our hard working code monkeys and format your prompts properly (and try not to make them overly long).
For example:
-Stargate SG1, Cam, when he has his accident, all he can think about is his dad's
-Hawaii Five-0, Danny, on Grace's wedding day, all he can think about is holding her as a newborn
-Sanctuary, Magnus, 113 years is a long time to spend by yourself
Tag=lookingback
Enjoy!

Date: 2011-10-20 10:21 pm (UTC)He's known for years that this day (or one quite like it) would be coming but it still seems to soon.
He can remember as clear as yesterday the first time he held her in his arms. How small she had been then, how afraid he had been that he'd break her just by touching her.
He remembers the nurse asking him if he wanted to hold Grace now that Rachel had fallen asleep. Remembers the nurse lifting Grace from Rachel's arms with the ease of long practice and settling her into Danny's, careful to make sure Grace was being properly supported before she pulled away.
Danny hadn't even realized he wass crying over the miracle he was holding in his arms until a tear landed on his daughter's face. Carefully he wiped it away with his thumb.
In the present he feels a familiar hand wiping his own cheek and he smiles at Grace.
"Love you, Monkey." He says, silently promising her everything all over again.
"Love you too, Danno." There's tears in her eyes when they hug, but they never quite fall.
As much as he wants her to be seven years old again so he can take her home and protect her, she's happy and he would never do anyhting to keep her from that.
He glances around the room and catches the eye of Daniel's mother. They smile at each other, knowing they're both seeing their children as far younger than they really are.

Now they've run into each other and things are allot different than they used to be and the Winchesters don't like what they see especially with John.
John and Sam used to be the same age.

Date: 2012-04-13 08:31 pm (UTC)The ceremony's beautiful, out on the beach with flowers everywhere. It's a sharp contrast to the day Danny had married Rachel; setting anything outside in New Jersey is just asking for a rainstorm.
But there were white flowers, not the rainbow around them now. And Rachel had smiled and pretended not to cry, and Danny's heart had felt too stuffed full of happiness and hopes for the future.
Danny wonders if that's how Chin's feeling right now. From the goofy smile on his face, he probably is.
Danny slides his eyes over Grace, the flower girl, and across to Steve again. He's devastatingly handsome in a tux, and so obviously overjoyed for Chin, and...
And, shit, now Danny's getting caught on his divorce. He and Rachel had been just as happy, but they'd fallen apart anyway. Danny too busy with work to notice Rachel's unhappiness, trying to hold on too hard once he realized she wanted to go.
God. What if Steve ever wanted to go? Could Danny let him, like he'd eventually had to let go of Rachel? What if someday looking at Steve ached the same way? What if Danny had to explain to Grace all over again that sometimes things just don't work out and she cries again and he cries too and...
God. They could really mess each other up if this whole dating thing doesn't work out.
Danny sits at the reception with a glass of champagne, tugging at his collar and getting too worked up. He's irrationally angry at Steve - which isn't to say that Steve's done nothing to deserve it, they will have words about the dishes sitting in the sink at home - but this is about the anxiety Danny's getting.
He's going through one of those swooping moods where all of it was a terrible idea. Because how dare Steve get so tangled up in all of Danny's life if it'll just hurt more to untangle it all. And Grace, he can't just become her third dad and then walk out like Rachel did.
Underneath that anger, Danny's scared that he'll do something to make Steve want to walk out.
He downs his drink and Kono's sitting with him when he looks around. "Hey, gorgeous," he tells her, because - well, bridesmaid looks good on her.
"You're freaking out," she tells him.
He makes a bitchy face, but, well.
"Stop it and go dance with Steve," she orders. "Today is Chin's day and you're not allowed to get mopey about divorce or something, that's like the first rule of weddings, no one gets to say the d-word."
Right. "Right," he says, and fiddles with his tie because it won't lie down flat. Steve's not going to leave, and if he tries, Danny'll fight him for every inch of space. Danny won't let himself make the same mistakes all over again.
Kono reaches over to straighten him out, pats his lapels fondly. "You're fine, brah. Be happy."
He smiles at her, struck with that rush of love for everyone in his life, his heart getting pretty full of hopes and dreams whether he likes it or not. "Hey. If Steve and I tie the knot, will you be my best man? I think Steve has dibs on Chin."
"If? Please. You're gonna make an honest man of him whether you like it or not. Face facts."
Danny gets to his feet, looking for Steve - already on the dance floor, swinging Grace around. "Yeah, probably," he admits, and goes to cut in.

Date: 2012-01-02 06:24 pm (UTC)Eames settles the glass of whiskey on the table and sits on the bed, beside Arthur's leg. "Then don't."
Arthur looks at him.
"But," Eames says, all seriousness in the lines of his face, "you could also face your fears, rather than making another seemingly impenetrable box, waiting to explode one day. Because like lies, they will always be exposed; if not in reality, then in your dreams."
Arthur watches Eames. He's still, so still, and when Arthur closes his eyes, he feels wetness behind his eyelids.
