Friday Free For All
Nov. 4th, 2011 05:34 amGood morning campers and happy Friday. You all know what that means! It's free for all day.
Got a prompt that's just been burning away in your head waiting for the right theme day? Wait no longer, today is your day! Any fandom, any pairing, any anything....it all goes today.
Do remember our few rules: No more than 5 prompts in a row, no more than 3 per fandom, no spoilers in the prompt itself (this is something I've seen starting to happen again, please be kind to those who do not get to watch right away and DO NOT post a prompt that is itself a spoiler), and if the responding fic has spoilers, please warn and leave at least three spaces between warning and fic. Of course, if some of your prompts are filled, feel free to come back and post a few more.
Make sure to format your prompts correctly so that our hard working code monkeys can archive them: Fandom, character/pairing, prompt. Please try to keep your prompts short, long ones muck up the works.
For Example:
Firefly, Mal, "I'm not a good man."
Supernatural, Dean/anyone, let the blood wash away the pain
Leverage/Criminal Minds, Hardison + Garcia, a serial killer is hacking up hackers
Go forth and prompt and write! Happy Friday.

Date: 2011-11-04 11:55 pm (UTC)~
Mal knows he's got plenty of good qualities – least, he does if you ask Kaylee about them – but it isn't like that has to add up to his being a good man. Or a nice one, for that matter, which Kaylee's like to agree with, she ever gets wind of what he's about to do.
“Hey, doc,” he says, sticking in his head in the infirmary. “Mind if I have a word?”
“I expect you'd have it whether I mind or not, so please, have a seat.” For all that his words ain't so welcoming, Simon's tone is light and friendly enough – boy just hasn't quite gotten the hang of being relaxed quite yet.
“Fact is, I came down here to talk about Kaylee,” Mal says.
“Kaylee? Why? I just saw her a few minutes ago, there's nothing wrong with her,” Simon says, finally giving Mal his full attention, rather than whatever medical bit of business he'd been doing.
“No,” Mal says, crossing his arms even as he keeps his voice even. “And that's the way I like it, so here's the deal – you're gonna keep things with her on a professional sort of level, dong ma?”
“Excuse me?” Simon asks, going tense. “Since when do you get to tell us how to conduct our personal lives?”
“Since you're living on my ship, by the grace of me,” Mal says. “Not that I don't like you well enough, doc, but I've seen your way with women, and it ain't anything I'm willin' to trust the happiness of my mechanic to, not when the health of my ship goes hand in hand with that. You and Kaylee get yourselves tangled up in some kind of romance and one or both of you's gonna end up hurt, and where does that leave the rest of us? So I won't be having it.”
Simon just stares at him for a moment. “You're insane. That's incredibly unfair.”
“No, unfair would be me putting you and River off my boat when Kaylee comes cryin' to me 'bout how you broke her heart with some fool thing you said. None of us want that. So, how's about you don't be stupid with this.”
“You're basically asking me to choose between risking River and our place here on the ship, and my feelings for Kaylee, you do know that?” Simon asks, studying him with narrowed eyes.
“Knew you had a brain behind that pretty face of yours,” Mal says, heading for the doorway. “Kaylee's awful dear to us 'round here – did you think we'd make it easy on you? How'd you feel if me or Jayne was goin' after your mei mei?”
“Well, there's an appalling pair of thoughts that'll haunt my nightmares,” Simon says slowly. “I'll take your points into consideration, Captain. But you're still being ridiculously dictatorial. And slightly evil.”
“Never said I was a good man, doc.”

Date: 2011-11-04 12:45 pm (UTC)Title: Scalpel (Dean/Alistair)
Date: 2011-12-05 02:14 am (UTC)Dean was something else.
In Hell, it soon became Dean that souls feared to see come before them, Dean whose torments were the worst that they could come to know. He was the one whose name was whispered in the night and screamed every morning.
When Dean is pulled out of Hell, and when he faces Alistair once again, something the demon once told him falls to the front of his mind.
Before, he'd never dared to give it credence. Tonight, he follows it to the letter:
Let the blood wash away your pain.

Date: 2011-11-04 07:25 pm (UTC)Growing up in foster care cemented the lesson: don’t care about people, they won’t stay.
By the time he meets Jack, he’s closed off to everybody, especially this utterly military man, who looks on scientists as a nuisance—sometimes a necessary nuisance, but a burden nonetheless.
He lets his guard down with Sha’re, though, and for awhile it’s OK.
Until she’s taken over by Amaunet, and killed.
He lets his guard down with Sarah, when he meets her again, but she’s possessed too, and when they free her of the Go’a’uld who’s been controlling her actions, she wants nothing more to do with him, not that he can blame her.
He lets his guard down with Ke’ra, only to get burned again. She’s actually Linea, a mass murderer, and they have to wipe her memory again to keep her from hurting more people.
By now he’d be completely shut off…if not for Jack.
Jack, who drags him out of his office for beer and pizza to distract him from his many anniversaries.
Jack, who doesn’t listen to his complaining when he knows it’s for his own good.
Jack, who never leaves him alone in bed the morning after, and kisses him, until, almost, he could believe he’ll stay.

Date: 2011-11-04 12:57 pm (UTC)Title: Guilt
Date: 2011-12-05 02:10 am (UTC)But he isn't.
It's his fault that Lucifer turned out the way he did. Lucifer was his responsibility in the Beginning, when Dad was still writing Creation and they all were just sort of there.
Michael should have seen the signs, should have seen the jealousy in his little brother's eyes when he saw Mankind for the first time, when Adam and Lilith walked in the Garden of Eden, and they did not know what awaited them. Michael should have been able to stop him before his hatred grew so great that it could not be tamed.
Instead, he ignored it until Lilith was warped and twisted, and Eve learned what good and evil were, and Adam was caught in the crossfire.
Now, two thousand years or so after the birth of Jesus, Michael stands above the world, watching as another pair of brothers follow the same path. The younger one is Lucifer's, that much is known -- it had been written like Cain and Abel had been written. But it is the older one who slowly is formed into exactly the creature that Michael must burn out to destroy his brother.
It is the older one whom Michael cannot save, and that is simply another thing on the list of Michael's crimes.

Date: 2011-11-04 07:50 pm (UTC)Grace is with them too, currently picking flowers to bring to Rachel.
“Hey, monkey,” he says, digging through the cooler as Steve settles himself on the blanket, stretching warm and languid in the sun like a cat, “Don’t you wanna eat?”
“In a minute!” Grace says, picking a last orange flower and coming to sit next to him.
“Okay, looks like we have loco moco, torikatsu, shrimp tempura and potato salad, with malasadas for dessert,” Danny says. He takes some loco moco for himself and passes the cooler to Grace, who takes some potato salad and malasadas.
“Have something other than potato salad before you eat that,” he says automatically, and she nods.
Steve takes some shrimp tempura, and tosses him a Pepsi from the cooler of drinks.
He hands the Pepsi to Grace and Steve gives him another one, taking a Coke for himself.
For awhile there’s quiet as the three of them eat, then Grace speaks up.
“Uncle Steve?”
“Yeah, Gracie?”
“When are you and Danno going to move in together?”
“Grace!” Danny splutters, but Steve only laughs. “As soon as he admits that he needs to.”
Grace gives him a severe look. “I hate that hotel!”
Danny groans, the peace of the afternoon shattered. “If I agree to move in with him, will you two leave me alone?”
“Of course,” Steve says, with an innocence that fools no one, and Grace squeals and launches herself at him in a hug that knocks him over.
“Oof,” he says, as his loco moco goes flying all over the blanket.
“I love you, Danno!” Grace says, her arms still locked around him, and over her shoulder he can see Steve grinning.
He decides to forgive it this time. They have plenty of food, after all.

Date: 2011-11-05 01:29 am (UTC)The stupid man that could hardly care for his devoted wife. The man that needs his woman to do all the work and then abandon her for some stupid dream.
Medea watches and smiles as Lucifer's friends die - his family die. She hasn't seen Lilith again but she does see his brothers fall again and again. She sees Lucifer kill and hurt over Gabriel the way her own damned husband killed her family. Perhaps her husband hadn't literally done it but he'd certainly pushed her to it. And Lucifer was going to do nothing but make his own brothers kill each other.
She watches Lucifer die and smiles - it's nothing but just desserts. The real fun has only started when she watches the mess after Lucifer dies. She watches the brothers fight over and over and she's filled with glee.
Boys with their toys will end up damned if they can't take care of their women and Medea will make sure they get there.

Date: 2011-11-04 05:34 pm (UTC)Dean's been on the defensive all his life. He's been fighting back, protecting what he has as best he can. The darkness creeps up to his doorstep and he strikes out to drive it back, away.
He's never truly gone on the offensive. Never taken the fight to the darkness' doorstep, never ridden out in his steel-black steed to flush out the pockets of evil, the bits and pieces that slip through the cracks.
This, though. This is the straw that breaks the camel's back and Dean breaks into strength. He picks up his weapons, listens to the horses run under the hood, sets his sights on the darkness on the horizon and he goes to war.
He's a good man, the best man, the righteous man.
And before him, the demons run.
