MONDAY: FALL
Nov. 14th, 2011 06:38 amCait N. here, and I'll be your guest host for this week :-)
This past week there has been a chill in the air and the leaves on the trees are slowly turning color (or falling off lol). Fall is here, so let's make it the theme for today! Take that to mean whatever you want -- the season, someone taking a fall, falling in love, etc.
Here are the rules:
* Five prompts in a row, no more than three from one fandom and if you get a prompt filled you can leave a new one.
* No spoilers until a week after air-/publication date, if you're wondering if something's a spoiler it probably is.
* Follow the examples for correct formating:
Psych, Shawn/Juliet, "Tell me again how you just happened to fall into that stripper's lap."
Dead Like Me, Georgia Lass, It's not like there was a notice in the paper that morning: Beware falling toilet seats!
Supernatural, Sam + Dean, Fall just seemed to bring out the crazy in people.
Have fun!

Connor just shrugged. "Nothing lasts forever, even cold, November rain."

(Because, um, I don't quite ship them. But I can do an introspective reminiscing.)

Date: 2011-11-14 01:48 pm (UTC)Glee, Kurt/Blaine, PG
Date: 2012-10-13 02:17 am (UTC)(in this 'verse. Short version: Kurt and Blaine are a pair of serial killers in love. Warnings for a bit of sexual assault.)
...
winter
Karofsky slams Kurt into the wall, breath hot on Kurt's face, hands bruising Kurt's skin. "Why do you keep - how can you - " Karofsky gasps into his neck.
This isn't going how Kurt expected, and he closes his eyes.
spring
"When will you come back?" Rachel asks him, smiling earnestly at him from the arm of the couch, where she's perched waiting for Finn. "Karofsky ran away; the bullies are backing off. Finn has really stepped up, Kurt."
"I won't be coming back," Kurt tells her quietly. He's quite done with McKinley, in fact. Two and a half years are already far too much.
The rest of his life is on the way over, and everything is coming along very nicely.
"But - " Rachel starts to protest, and Finn clunks his way down the stairs, so Rachel turns to him and says, "Tell Kurt to come back!"
Finn looks at him, almost nervously. "It's up to Kurt," he says. "C'mon, Rachel - we'll be late if we don't leave now."
Kurt smiles at his stepbrother. Oh, yes. Everything's finally on the way to wonderful.
summer
Isabelle is adorable, so excitable, a kind boss. She can't promise Kurt a permanent position, but having something to fall back on when his auditions aren't everything he wanted is lovely.
Kurt is the lowest on the totem pole, of course. He fetches coffee, runs errands, nods along when anyone else wants someone to listen.
He auditions multiple times a week for months, writes his own works until his fingers ache, and curls up with Blaine. His favorite thing of all is curling up with Blaine.
fall
At Thanksgiving, Dad asks, “When is that boy gonna put a ring on your finger?”
Kurt chokes on a laugh, whisper-shouting, “Dad!”
Dad shrugs. “It’s been, what, five years? You’re both grown up now, Kurt. Just sayin’.” He’s grinning, though, across the room, watching whatever silly game is on. Blaine’s upstairs unpacking, on the phone with his boss from the hotline.
“You never know, Dad,” Kurt tells him. “I might propose to him.”
Dad smiles. “I expect to be the first person you call, Kurt, whichever way it happens.”
Kurt nods, grinning down at his hands.
He’s got it all planned out, but not until after Blaine graduates from grad school. He doesn’t need any distractions.
It’s going to be perfect, though. Absolutely perfect.
Blaine barrels down the stairs and throws himself next to Kurt on the love-seat, whatever crisis at work past, and Carole’s on the way home from the hospital, and Finn’s driving in with his girlfriend of eight months (he’s serious this time, apparently), and Dad’s smiling at them again.
Kurt slides his hand into Blaine’s, and leans into him, and imagines the rest of their lives.
It’s bright red.

Date: 2011-11-14 02:35 pm (UTC)She remembered how Simon would simply sit and watch her until she asked him to join in. He always would, no matter what else he was doing, because he loved her and more than anything else in the world, he wanted to make her happy.
River's skirt whirled around her knees, her black boots crushing the hapless leaves on the ground beneath her slight weight. Her hair, soft and dark, got in her eyes and in her mouth as she leaned over for another handful of the colorful confetti and threw handfuls of the leaves up in the air again.
She had no idea anyone was watching, but they were, they all were. Mal and Inara stood by Serenity, watching her intently, Inara wearing a smile that made her even more beautiful than normal and Mal, with his gaze torn between the woman he loved and this beautiful, innocent but sometime terrifying waif twirling before him. Zoe stood alone, as she often did now that Wash was gone, a far off look in her eyes as though maybe she was wondering if her child might be playing in the leaves with River if only she'd had one. Kaylee was laughing softly, looking like she wanted to join in, but not wanting to disturb these rare moments of River just being River.
And Jayne and Simon. They stood together, talking quietly, as Simon told Jayne how River used to do this very thing when they were little, how he would rake the back yard for hours, then lure her away from her books or her computer and entice her to come outside. She would always screech with happiness when she saw what he'd done for her, hug him hard, then dive head first into the huge pile of leaves he'd made for her.
Jayne tried to imagine this child that Simon had known and loved, but even as he did so, his fingers trialed over the scar across his chest that she'd left on him nearly a year before and he remembered how cold and stark her voice had been when she said he looked better in red.
He looked up at River's musical laughter filled the small glade they'd landed in, watched as she was skipped over to Simon.
"Come play with me, Simon," she said, breathless and nearly glowing with happiness, the worry and fear and feeling of just not being right erased from her face for the moment.
"Mei-mei, I can't, I'm not dressed for..."
"Simon."
Everyone laughed then as Simon gave in like they knew he would, and despite his fancy clothes and immaculate hair, a moment later, he too was throwing leaves and rolling around on the colorful leaf-strewn ground, lost, like River, in the years of their childhood.
And for a while, everything was good and everyone, even Mal, as he slipped his arm around Inara's shoulders, was happy.
