Date: 2011-12-30 07:21 pm (UTC)In the movies this is the part where the cowboy tips his hat at the pretty girl he fell in love with and rides away to never be heard from again.
But Harry's tired and he's hurt and he doesn't know how to ride a horse. And to be god-honest he'd rather just curl up in someone's lap and cry himself to sleep.
Harry isn't even feeling particularly picky about whose lap it is, though given a choice it would obviously be Mrs. Weasley's. He can't make that choice though, because she's busy grieving and comforting those of her children who are close enough to pull into a hug.
Unfortunately everywhere he turns Harry sees people who are too busy for him. That's ok. It's expected even. They've just finished a war and those not comforting loved ones are helping with the wounded.
Harry turns and begins walking towards the door, hoping to slip away while no-one's looking, hoping not to make a burden of himself again.
It's Bill's hand on his arm that stops Harry. Harry looks up at the eldest Weasley brother.
"Mum was looking for you." He says, letting Harry go.
Letting Harry make the choice of following or fleeing.
Bill's face is inscrutable, not letting his own thoughts on the matter show.
"I didn't want to bother her. I mean with Fred and all..." Harry stammers out.
Bill gives one of those gaelic shrugs that means everything and nothing.
"It's Mum." Is all he says, and really, what more needs to be said?
Harry follows Bill back to the gathering of Weasleys. A strong femine hand grabs him and pulls him down to rest between Ginny and Percy against Mrs. Weasley's bosom.
For now the cowboy will not ride off into the sunset. No one comments on his tears; they're all too focused on their own to notice.
