Hello everyone. Today's theme is Disguises. Characters who aren't what they seem. Going undercover. Masquerade balls. Go wild!
Please remember to formulate your prompts correctly:
White Collar, Neal + Peter, Neal may trust him, but he hardly ever lets him see behind the mask.
Suits, Harvey/Mike, Mike pretends Harvey's fooled him with his talk about not caring about anything.
NCIS, Tony/Ziva, They've been undercover before without a problem, even pretending to be married. But this time is different.
Remember the rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom in a row.
Absolutely no spoilers in prompts
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave a space.
Don't see anything you like? Check out the lonely prompts

Date: 2012-02-23 03:00 pm (UTC)untitled - dark, AU for Neal's backstory
Date: 2012-02-25 07:18 am (UTC)Neal is angry all the time. He has been for years, and sometimes, all he wants to do is grab the nearest knife and gut someone. He's refrained, though. Otherwise, he'd either be dead or on the run, looking over his shoulder all the time.
Peter thinks Neal is a gentleman thief. El, June, Diana, Jones - they all think he's charming, and a better than decent guy. The FBI thinks Neal's useful, except for those who think once a thief, always a thief, and the only place for thieves is prison.
Neal’s been angry since he was a child. It’s not that he was beaten. It’s not that he was neglected. His father was a smalltime crook, and his mother a bankteller (and, yes, there’s irony there somewhere, but Neal doesn’t care anymore), and Neal coasted through school, well-liked and firmly entrenched in the middle of his class. Neal made sure no one ever saw his true self, carefully giving everyone the same mask: all-American nice boy. Athletic, popular – charming. So very charming.
Neal’s been charming just as long as he’s been angry.
Painting is not his passion. He’s good at it, of course. He’s good at everything. When his mother told him he could do anything he wanted, it was the truth. If he hadn’t held back, school wouldn’t have taken long at all.
Conning is not his passion, either.
(When Neal was fourteen, a senior at his school went missing. He was written off as a runaway.)
Stealing things is fun, but it’s all so easy, there’s hardly any reason to anymore.
(When Neal was eighteen, a young couple from his class went missing. It was decided they ran off together.)
Forging was diverting at first, but after a year, it was no longer a challenge.
(When Neal was in prison, the biggest, meanest topdog died. Consensus: accidental food poisoning.)
Peter doesn’t think Neal is harmless; Neal’s a convicted felon, after all.
But Peter does think Neal is a gentleman.
Peter doesn’t know what Neal does when the rage gets to be too much, how he learned how to trick the anklet within the first week, or just how many people go missing in New York a day.
Neal doesn’t let the anger control him. He uses it. The anger hones him into something sharp, something dangerous, and maybe one day, Peter will learn what Neal’s true passion is.

Date: 2012-04-02 05:36 am (UTC)Standing next to Sarah John sighed looking over the room of fine clothes and elaborate masks. “Go on and dance Sarah. I'll be all right. We both need to act like we're enjoying ourselves and making nice with the guests.”
Almost a whole song after Sarah stepped onto the floor John jumped hearing an old woman's voice next to him. “Sit down next to me young man. I need a break from standing and if you're next to me they wont interrupt us.”
“Certainly. I'd love to.” John said sitting next to the old dignified woman who had spoken.
“Liar. You would rather be anywhere but here. So why are you here?” The lady asked looking at John with an familiar critical gaze.
"You're right. I need the rent money too much to risk seeing if the boss's unsubtle threat of be here or be fired is true."
"That is a good reason to be here. Did the landlord raise the rent?"
"No. I suddenly had to go from half the rent to paying all of it."
"Lousy arsed flatmate." The woman unkindly said.
"No, he was a good man who was murdered by a monster."
"That's terrible. What about finding a cheaper place?"
"He was taken from me and I refuse to give up our home as crazy as it was. Thankfully his family hasn't barged in and taken his things. It seems like without him alive they don't care about his stuff or his old flatmate. Oh no, the supervisor from hell is watching, would you mind of we danced a bit? Just until he stops watching or until I step on your toes, which will probably happen first." John explained hoping the woman would agree to dance and keep his boss happy thereby keeping him employeed.
"Dear me, that was exciting. Dancing with such a young handsome thing as youre self. Excuse me for a moment."
“Of course.” John watched the woman regally walk toward the hallway leading out of the ballroom.
Once the woman was out of hearing of the ballroom a cellphone was pulled out of the front of her dress. “Mycroft, don't you dare remove my things from Baker street. Also at least triple John's income. I don't care how just do it. No I am not going to tell you where I am.”
No one noticed an old woman slowly walk into the ladies room and a young serving girl dash out moments later.

Date: 2016-06-22 05:13 pm (UTC)It's different, walking through throngs of students, exploring state-of-the-art buildings, trying not to view everyone he sees as victims--either of monsters, or of hustlers-- and trying not to think of escape routes, of take-downs, of ways everyone around him would die screaming from things that don't even give him nightmares anymore.
