Hi everyone! I’m chibifukurou and I’m still here enabling your comment_fic addiction this week.
Today’s theme is AU. Today all the prompts have to involve an AU of some sort. Whether it be fusions or Universes with minor differences, anything goes as far as fandoms and pairings are concerned.
The Rules:
■ Don’t prompt more than 5 prompts in a row or 3 prompts per fandom. When someone has answered your prompt, you can prompt again.
■ No spoilers in your prompt until at least 1 week after the original airing or publication date. If there are spoilers in your fic, you must warn in bold and leave at least 3 spaces.
■ Thank your fic providers they thrive on feedback.
■ For the sake of the code monkeys’ sanity remember to format your prompts correctly.
Formatting examples:
Fandom, Character, prompt
Fandom, Character/Character, prompt
Fandom/Fandom, Character(s), prompt
None of today's prompts interest you? Make someone’s day and answer one of the myriad of Lonely prompts!

They meet in the children's ward. Kurt's been volunteering all year as a candy striper to pad his college applications. He knows it's inappropriate to hit on any of the people he sees at the hospital, but there's just something about Sam. It's probably the hair. Kurt's pretty sure it's the hair. It is the first thing he sees when Sam comes down the hallway looking completely lost.
"Can I help you?" Kurt asks, smiling a little wider than he usually would. He's usually pretty good at knowing when people need to see a smile and when they prefer a serious frown.
When Sam's head turns from the room numbers to look at Kurt, Kurt knows that the smile was exactly right. Sam smiles back and it's a wide, ungainly thing, but Kurt thinks it makes him look all the right kinds of friendly. "I'm looking for my sister," he says. "My mom said it was 412."
Kurt thinks to the little girls sharing room 412 and wonders which is this boy's sister. They're both cute kids, both with broken legs, and neither of them is staying long. "It's right over here," Kurt says, and he actually puts a hand on Sam's arm and tugs him past the nurses station toward the open door of room 412.
Sam doesn't protest Kurt's fingers on his arm, even when Kurt finally lets go and the release is more of a caress. It makes Kurt's smile linger a little longer.
"Look who's here," Kurt announces to the room at large, walking in. He'd been visiting with both girls earlier that morning and knew they both had a flair for the dramatic. Both girls have the rest of their families in the room now.
The girl in bed closer to the window, Stacy, waves both hands with a bright smile. "Sammy!" she shouts. Kurt should have guessed. Their hair is the same shade of blonde. He thinks it's cute that he's Sammy and she's Stacy. He wonders if their brother has a similar name.
Kurt smiles at everyone in the room before leaving them alone. He thinks about Sam for the rest of his shift. Kurt's developing something of a crush, but nothing's going to come of it today.

Kurt seeks Sam out on Monday. He's surprised he never noticed Sam before, but he blends in seamlessly with the jocks on the football team that Kurt avoids as often as possible, so it kind of makes sense. Regardless, Kurt's not the sort to shy away from social situations, lone openly gay kid on campus or not. So when he approaches Sam and one of the other guys makes a crack about the two of them, it slides off his back. What doesn't slide right off is the warm feeling Kurt gets when Sam tells the other guys to lay off.
They find a secluded corner and Kurt makes small talk about how Stacy is doing. Sam mentions she's terrible with crutches.
And then they have nothing more to say and they just stare at each other. The bell rings and it startles them both. Kurt smiles one last time before he starts to head to class.
"Hey wait," says Sam, eyes still locked on Kurt. "Do you want to grab a burger or something after school?"
Kurt's eyes widen with surprise. He'd been hoping, sure. But he was going to build up to it because he hadn't been expecting Sam to be interested. The guys he likes are never interested. But it looks like his persistence is finally paying off. "I'd like that," says Kurt.
"Awesome," says Sam, his smile impossibly bright. He reaches out quickly, takes Kurt's hand in his and gives it the quickest of squeezes, before walking away backwards, not losing Kurt's gaze until the last possible second.
Kurt's on cloud nine for the rest of the day.

Date: 2012-03-21 05:57 am (UTC)I'm glad you thought they were in character since it's the first time I've written either of them. I think I sacrificed a little of Sam to make the relationship work in my very short timeline.
