Greetings, fellow wordsmiths, it is I,
ibonekeon, your guest host for the week! I bring you today's theme in the form of Secrets — Everybody's got 'em, it's just a matter of who we trust enough to share them.
Come on down, stop on by, hop a carpet and fl— No, wait, wrong movie. Let's see what you can do with today's theme. Does your protagonist (or antagonist) have a secret that's eating away at their soul? Maybe they've discovered someone's secret and they're now wrestling with the moral dilemma of keeping said secret. The sky's the limit! Just remember, have fun!
As always, there's the little matter of rules:
-No more than five prompts in a row. If someone fills one of your prompts, you are then free to prompt again!
-No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
-No spoilers in prompts!
-If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.
Prompts should be formatted as follows:
-Fandom, Character+/Character, Prompt
Here are just a few examples to get you started:
Glee, Kurt/Blaine, Blaine didn't tell Kurt the whole story about the Sadie Hawkins dance
Avengers movieverse, Tony, His secret is...he's grateful for this ticking time bomb of a family.

Date: 2012-06-17 05:38 pm (UTC)Even at her most arrogantly delusional, Mother knew better than to let people in on this ability. El-Viddenvelp kept silent to the Baenre – but then again, Illithid don’t discuss the powers of mind with those unable to use them. They know that we can move matter, read one’s darkest secrets, walk through the walls with but a thought – but not that we can kill with it. They do not even contemplate the possibility. It’s a peculiarity found in lesser minds, to strive to be purposefully ignorant of things they are unable to do anything about.
“Crush”, I said, but it’s but one of offenses. For priestess, Ego Whip would work the best. For what are they without their - our - goddess? Their egos are among the most frail, worn away with avoiding both the loss of favour and assassination attempts. They live in constant fear, more so than any other Drow in the Underdark. Shake their faith by striking at their frail ego, and Spider Queen will withdraw her support; she suffers no crisis of faith in her followers. Without spells and favour of Lloth, the highest of priestess is nothing more than a mewling, pathetic creature. I wonder how many would truly stay defiant and not try to beg or seduce.
For mages, Id insinuation would work the best. Even the notoriously unstable sorcerers need focus to channel the Weave. With their subconscious roused, their primal desires running rampant, they would be as likely to slay themselves or allies with their spells as their foe.
But these but sap the abilities. I can thrust my mind into yours like a rapier, and you would suffer the damage as if though I used a blade. I can blast minds of lesser creatures into oblivion. I can crush a mind of the mightiest of warriors like one would crush a worm.
And these are but pure mental attacks. My speciality is manipulation of matter; I can cause that chandelier you are passing under to fall down and crush you – all it takes is loosening a screw; move the carpet under your feet as you walk on the stairs; disturb the balance of ladder; weaken the rope; shatter the vial of acid you are carrying.
But I will let you live in your ignorance. And you will never see me coming.
