Monday: Deja Vu Again and Again

Hi, all. Today marks the kickoff of my inaugural week hosting comment-fic. I'm argentum_ls, though you can call me LadySilver. Today's theme is deja vu, because doesn't every Monday feel just like the last one? :) With today's theme, let's explore those times when one just knows one's been here before, the repeated moments, the collisions of awareness when one can sense the inevitable unwinding.

The rules:

Fill: Let's Do This (PG-13)

Xena was upset when Joxer died on the first day. She was heartbroken when Argo died on the second. But when Gabrielle died on the third? She was devastated. She sat in front of the fire that night, begging for the day to be over and reset itself once again. It had done so before, so it would happen again, right?

No, the voice in the back of her mind badgered. This is your punishment for the wars you waged and the lives you stole. Accept your fate.

As Xena lay down to sleep, she shook off the nameless fear that had gripped her, only to be choked by a second. When the day restarted - an it would restart - Gabrielle would be alive, along with Joxer and Argo, but everything about that day would feel...artificial. She and Gabrielle would have the same moments over and over again. There would never be a new touch or a new memory that they could make together. Xena would never get to try out that technique that Ephiny told her about or get Gabrielle the new quill that she asked for.

It may be selfish of her, but Xena needed to end this feud so that both families would stop fighting and so that she could have a new day with her soul mate.

Perfect! I especially like the way you brought out Gabby wanting that new quill and Xena wanting so desperately to buy it for her, and now you've got me curious about that technique she wants to try out too. ;-) Thanks!
