Happy Friday, everyone! Loosen the tie and kick off the heels. I'm still [livejournal.com profile] argentum_ls, and I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the weekend. I'll bet our favorite grownup characters are too. Today's theme is grownup time.

For those fandoms normally centered around teens and kids, let's take today to give some love to the adults in their lives. Alternatively, let's see what those kids are like in a decade or two when they've had a chance to grow up a bit. For those fandoms that are already centered on the adults, let's take today to see what they're like out of the office, away from the boss (or the underlings, if they are the boss), and off the clock.

The rules:
No more than three prompts to a single fandom
No more than five prompts at a time
No spoilers in the prompts and if your fill has spoilers, please warn and and leave at least three spaces

Format:
Fandom, Character, Prompt
Fandom, Character/Character, Prompt

Examples:

Teen Wolf, Coach Finstock, "Teachers don't live in the goddamn lockers."

The Listener, Toby+/Olivia, dancing

Any, Any+/Any, an expected night off

None of these prompts begging you to spend time with them? Check out the lonely prompts.

Happy weekend, and thanks for great week!

Oh truth! I was writing under the assumption that a. Sam never came back and b. Dean stuck around with Lisa and didn't actually hunt that much, hence his surviving for another 15 years.

The remains of the meal had been cleared away, and the two men settled companionably on Ianto's couch, enjoying an after-dinner Scotch. A magazine featuring flashy vehicles lay open on the coffee table in front of them.

“That one, there. I dreamed of driving one ever since I was a kid. Then one night, when I was about 14, I met up with these two guys. One of them was older, and he was driving one! He said it was his brother's...”

A large hand was traveling up his thigh, but the Scotch was loosening his tongue and sparking exciting memories, so he did his best to disregard it.

“...which I doubted. I ran with a bit of a dodgy crowd back then, does that surprise you? Anyway, I convinced the guy to give me the keys and...”

The hand was unzipping his fly.

“Are you listening to me? I'm trying to make a point here.”

“Mmm, you sure are. Go on.”

“So I took the keys and... ohh!

One warm hand wrapped around his length while the other pushed him back against the couch, and the thread of the conversation was lost.

Again.

Jack made a final noise of protest, which was silenced when Ianto kissed him, hard, and then gave up. This was one of the hazards of having a (much) younger lover, after all.

The next time, he'd just have to break out his best stories during dinner.

A/N: Yes, I confess that played fast and loose with the prompt and the ambiguity of pronouns. Don't hurt me! ;)

Thank you! We tend to assume that Jack is the insatiable-to-the-point-of-being-annoying one. Thought it'd be fun if the reverse was actually the case.

And no, I don't think he's complaining one bit! :-p

You're welcome. Though I wonder how much of it is because of Jack's influence? The student is surpassing the teacher.

They think he avoids the circus out of some PTSD thing. That it was all bad memories and betrayal. He doesn't bother correcting them, sometimes it's easier to maintain a lie then explain the truth. The circus was his first moment of freedom, of strength. They put a bow in his hands and made him a star. Sure it all went wrong later, but those first memories, the beginning was pure.

He doesn't go every time the circus is in town. There's such a thing as too much and he doesn't want to spoil his memories. But sometimes, the weight on his shoulders gets too heavy and he can't handle the man he's become.

On those days he sneaks away from the mansion, leaving behind any way for him to be tracked, making his way on foot to the subway and from there hopping through the city until he reaches the empty lot the circus has set itself up in. The name at the entrance is never the same twice but past that it's the same exact thing, barely changed from when he was a kid.

He's had to make himself jaded to get through his life, surprise could mean life or death but right now he lets himself marvel at the tent and lights and smells. He bites his lip in excitement before stepping up to the ticket window. Once he would have just snuck in, but he feels some kind of debt to these people so he'll help support them a little longer. Once past the gates, the old thrill hits him even harder and it's all he can do to not laugh in sheer joy.

It's a little dirtier then he remembers, a little emptier, a little sadder but it doesn't matter, his own memories are enough to fill in the gaps, to make it shine like everything does to a kid's eyes. Underneath the grunge it's all the same and he can just be Clint, the kid who never had a chance at being a kid.

She knew she should be with them. Guilt weighed heavily upon Cassie as she walked through the kitchen in which she'd spent so many happy childhood moments baking cookies with her mom and playing checkers at their kitchen table with her father. She remembered every moment she'd spent with them here as she worked, but she recalled, too, the mission over which her friends were grappling. She should be there with them in the barn, checking on the animals and voicing her own opinions, but she already knew how the debate would end.

There wasn't really any other choice but to follow through with Rachel's latest, life risking plan. There was no more choice in what they were about to do than there had been when they'd found the dying Andalite's spacecraft and first learned of the existence of the Yeerks. They couldn't turn a blind eye to what they'd learned for the safety of their world.

It wasn't just the Earth's population at large that kept them from ignoring their duty and waiting for some one else to come fight a war that shouldn't be battled by kids. It was more deeply and closer than that. Cassie'd often thought that she might be able to ignore the Yeerks and go back to living her regular, normal life if it had just been the outside humans who were at risk. Yet, even if the animals she loved wouldn't be hurt by the destruction of their world, there was two for whom Cassie would do anything, give anything, and risk anything.

The little, black girl whose parents still thought of her as a kid, though she'd been forced to kill, wiped the tears from her eyes and lifted her chin all by herself. The meeting would have to go on without her. She needed this. She had to have it. She lifted the tray, loaded with coffee, pancakes, the morning newspaper, and roses, and headed for her parents' room.

She needed just a few moments in this awful world, made that way by the Yeerks' infestation, for everything to be normal. She needed to forget, for just a little while, why she fought and remember, instead, why it was so important and so great to love. Cassie wouldn't admit it aloud to any of the others, but she needed to be what she should be -- a daughter, a little girl -- for just one more time before facing the latest impossible mission of the Animorphs from which it was far too likely that none of them would return.

She wiped away a few more tears and squared her thin shoulders determinedly as she fixed her mask back into place. She couldn't let her parents know what was happening. The others all believed that you couldn't tell who had a Yeerk in their head and who didn't. She could understand, even almost completely agree with their belief. After all, Jake's brother was a host. But she would always know her parents.

She didn't tell them what was really happening in her life any more not because she was afraid they might be Yeerks. No, she knew what would happen if she told them, and that was the very reason why she didn't. Her parents were more than just her parents. They, like the Animorphs, were her best friends, but they were also her heroes. She'd never once known either of her parents to turn away some one who needed help, and they'd been saving lives for as long as Cassie could remember -- not from aliens, of course, but from threats no less dangerous for the animals who suffered them.

They'd rise to the cause again, Cassie knew, if they ever found out what was happening. They'd fight her battle for her, refuse to let her, their little girl, fight, and get themselves killed in the process of trying to save her and their world. She couldn't let that happen. She had to be their hero this time, even if it meant lying to them.

But Cassie didn't lie when she wished them a cheery, "Good morning!", upon entering their bedroom that morning. And she certainly didn't lie when she told them she loved them. She only wished, as she kept her tears expertly at bay, that they knew how much she'd always love them before the day came that she wouldn't come home.

I like the way Cassie both respects and admires her parents. And also her reason for not telling them, because they'll "fight her battle for her". Of course, that's probably true of Naomi too. I have a feeling Dan and perhaps Peter would be more cautious, and I'm not sure about Jake's parents. But the other Animorphs might not be as quick to consider that.

why it was so important and so great to love
Again, very true of Cassie. Thank you for the fill :)

When they see Coach Finstock with a beer in one hand and a cocktail in the other, both Stiles and Danny do a double take.

“Is that who I think it is?” Stiles asked suspiciously.

“It is,” Danny nodded and their eyes followed the coach’s movement towards a booth with a woman sitting patiently in it. The coach jumps up like he forgot something and heads back over to the bar. In the process, brushing against Stiles hard enough to send him stumbling backwards into Danny.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to bump you,” Finstock mumbled out.

“No problem,” Stiles held his hands up and his eyes widened as Coach Finstock paused and turned back to look at him. Stiles eyes widened when Finstock sighed, “What’s up Coach? Surprised to see you here.”

Finstock rolled his eyes, “It’s not really that surprising Balinski.”

Stiles looked over at Danny and yep, they were on the same page. It was really that surprising.
Finstock groaned, “It’s not like teachers live in a goddamned locker. We have lives too.”

“Sure coach,” Stiles nodded, “If you say so.”

“I do,” He narrowed his eyes, “Now if you’ll excuse me I have a date to get back to before I bring her home to my locker like you idiots seem to think we teachers live in.”

A/N: First time writing Bruce/Batman and apparently I can't leave Dick out of my stuff, but I tried this. It's still not what Alfred deserves, but it's something.
Also on A03: http://archiveofourown.org/works/2776346

“They don't have anything for Alfred,” Dick said, his voice taking on a bit of a pout as he spoke. He still sounded so young sometimes, making Bruce wonder if he'd made the right decision in taking the boy in and teaching him how to fight beside him as Robin. True, Dick hadn't given him much choice with the way he'd gone after the man who killed his parents, but times like this reminded Bruce of how much of a child he still was.

“You don't have to buy a present tonight. I think Alfred will be happy to see you eat all your vegetables for a change.”

Dick rolled his eyes. “Lame.”

Bruce gave him a look. “If it's what the person really wants, then it doesn't matter how 'lame' it is.”

“It should,” Dick said. “You know that Alfie deserves more than more than when we remember to thank him for something to eat or drink or patching our uniforms or cleaning them. He does all that stuff, and he doesn't get anything for it. You said so yourself.”

Bruce sighed. He had said it. He thought it every day, even when Alfred was fussing over him. He did more in taking care of Bruce than anyone really knew. He had raised Bruce, been the father he needed after his own had died, and he was still that now. He had always watched over him, and he would until the day he died. The fact that Bruce was alive to help anyone owed everything to Alfred. Every time someone hailed Batman as a hero, he knew that they were praising the wrong person. He'd set Dick straight about it not long ago, but he was the only one. Alfred would never get the recognition that he deserved for taking care of them.

“I want to get Alfred something really special.”

“So do I,” Bruce said, putting a hand on the boy's shoulder as he remembered why he'd agreed to go shopping with him instead of letting the kid handle it on his own. Robin survived Gotham streets at night, so Dick could shop by himself. Hell, Bruce preferred it that way. “How about this?”

He reached forward and picked up a mug, showing it to Dick.

“World's Greatest Hero,” Dick read off. “It's still a mug, though.”

“No,” Bruce said. “It's a start.”
