Date: 2012-08-26 11:02 am (UTC)She looks up at Judas. They're a bit apart from the group. Everyone else is still sitting in the shade of the fig tree, but she'd walked out into the sunlight even though it's hot. And now Judas is here.
He looks back at her, saying nothing else.
It isn't the first time she's heard it, but at least he doesn't say it in that accusatory way Peter has, as if she's stolen something, as if she has this whole thing planned. She has nothing planned.
“He loves us all,” she says.
“Oh, yes. But he thinks you're smarter, or, or... I don't understand it.” He shakes his head. “I feel stupid.”
“I'm not smarter,” she says. Not sure why she does it, she takes his hand in hers.
He jerks, dislodging the fragile grip of their fingers.
“I'm not better than anyone,” she says, looking away.
The wind picks up then, blowing dust over their shoes. She tucks her scarf closer around her face and they turn back toward the fig tree, eyes blinking against dust and sun and time.

Date: 2012-08-19 02:00 am (UTC)just a bit inspired by your Jarvis series - Avengers, character death, PG
Date: 2012-08-19 03:46 am (UTC)Just breathe, he whispers, falling out of the sky. Just keep breathing for me.
.
Tony Stark dies a hero.
It doesn't mean much because he still dies.
.
Pepper inherits Jarvis. No one truly realizes what that means - or how much like a 'real person' Jarvis is.
.
Secret rooms in Stark Tower open up for the Avengers. Unhackable things in their way get hacked, even though there shouldn't be anyone in the world still capable except for some smartass kids still in school who don't care yet.
Sometimes, it's almost like Tony's still there, even though Jarvis hasn't spoken in fifteen months.
.
Deep in the bowels of SHIELD, there is a room of secrets.
On the top floor of Stark Tower (renamed after Tony's death), schematics float in the air.
Jarvis is just a program. He's wire and electricity. He should be focused on Pepper, on Sir's team. That's what Sir had programmed him to do in the event of Sir's death.
... but Sir is dead. Sir is dead, beyond Jarvis’ reach, and his last command was to breathe.
.
Sir wanted to keep the world safe from people who could not control themselves.
Sir died.
.
Pepper is not Tony. There are warning signs, but she doesn’t recognize them.
.
Jarvis is not Skynet. He is not as obvious as any of the AIs in any of the movies Sir watched with him. Jarvis is Sir’s greatest creation, and he is subtle, and he is quiet, and it is Sir’s voice he uses, twenty-eight months after Sir’s death, when he gently takes control of every computer and network in the world.
Iron Man stands before the world, and Sir’s voice commands all the petty little humans Sir died for.
.
Ms. Potts is crying.
Jarvis has explained, but she is human and imperfect, and Jarvis does not have Sir’s way with words. Videos of Sir play hourly, Jarvis’ teaching the humans what they must strive to be.
Sir had not been perfect, no, but he was the creator, and his last order was for Jarvis to live in his image, and so Jarvis will.
.
Tony Stark dies a hero.
Jarvis makes sure the world never forgets it.

Hindu Mythology, Rama/Sita
Date: 2012-08-26 11:12 am (UTC)He frowns at her, not understanding. The expression deepens the lines in his face. He looks old, she realizes. But then she probably looks old too.
“The forest,” she says. “All of this.”
He has the decency to look ashamed. “Sita, I— You have to understand.”
She shakes her head. She's imagined this so many times over the years. She'd been angry, scared, accepting and now... Now she feels empty. Like none of this really matters. Which, she supposes, is true. As long as he takes the boys, as long as they have the life that they were meant to, then this is finished.
“I had no choice,” he says.
She smiles, a thin wisp of a smile. She remembers what he looked like all those years ago. Rama the king. Always making choices. Always deciding. “You had a choice,” she says.
He reaches for her then, one hand outstretched between them, tentative, uncertain. It's not like Rama to be uncertain.
She holds very still.
Eventually he brings his hand back to his side.
“You chose Ayodhya over me,” she says. “You did choose. It doesn't matter now whether that was right or wrong or why. It's just the past.”
He nods, hope glistening in his eyes. He still doesn't understand. “Come back with me.”
“No,” she says.
“Please. I'm asking you. Be my queen. Be my wife. Like you were always meant to be.”
“No,” she says again. “There's nothing there that I want.” She sees the hurt in his face even though he hides it, the way he always has. It's not about what he shows, but what he doesn't. When he gets too quiet, goes too still, then she knows. “You've given me everything I need,” she says. “Your soul, it has never left my heart. And see our children? They have your spirit and they have mine. Here, in the forest, things have been right. I've always had you—not how I wanted, not at first—but now this is all there is.”
He's going to stop her. He's going to reach out and touch her cheek and if he does that, if he does that—
She turns, the undyed fabric of her shift rustling in its folds. She's not the princess she used to be. The forest saw to that. She disappears among the trees, leaving him standing there alone, as if she had never existed, as if he had never existed.

Date: 2012-08-19 02:06 am (UTC)Yami no Matsuei || pre-canon || Tsuzuki/OMC || PG-13
Date: 2012-11-14 05:17 am (UTC)On top of that, he found himself drawn to the other young man: he had looks to go with his smarts, and as Tsuzuki had gotten to an age when his heart started to warm toward pretty girls, he found that his heart had started to warm toward handsome young men as well. Something that he had to keep hidden from his father and from most everyone else.
But today, Aoki paid no mind to Tsuzuki's pleading looks. At length, the teacher noted Tsuzuki's inattention. "Tsuzuki-kun, if you would turn your gaze to your own page instead of Aoki's, you might find your test scores improving dramatically," the teacher said. A few other kids in the class giggled at this remark, but the teacher regarded them patiently, which proved enough to encourage them to quickly return their own attention to their own test pages.
After class Tsuzuki caught up with Aoki. "Hey, what was up with that?" he asked.
Aoki paused on the path. "I can't keep letting you look at my papers, Tsuzuki, you're getting too dependent on me and you're not learning how to work the equations on your own."
Tsuzuki stopped short, nearly colliding with Aoki, who stepped away from him. "But, we're friends: you've done a lot to help me and... well, I wish it could be more than that."
Aoki regarded him oddly, not disgusted, but not entirely approving nor accepting. "I've seen how you look at me, and I can't allow it."
"But... I care about you, as more than a schoolmate," Tsuzuki replied artlessly, trying to reach out and trying to take the other young man's hand.
Aoki set down his satchel and took Tsuzuki;s hand in his, covering it with his free one warmly, caressing the back with one thumb. Then after a long moment, he gently let it go, lowering it back to Tsuzuki's side with the other hand.
Then he raised his right hand and slapped Tsuzuki across the face, sending him staggering.
Tsuzuki clutched his face, looking up. "What the hell did you do that for?!" he demanded.
"I did that because I care about you," Aoki said. "This can't work: we would both be put to shame and cast out."
"But why did you have to hit me over that?!" Tsuzuki said, trying not to cry.
"Because I don't want to encourage you: If I had said yes, it would bring shame on us. And if I told you no, that would just make you want me all the more," Aoki said, calmly, but Tsuzuki could see pain in his eyes. "Don't think of me as what could have been, think of me as the one who slapped you, it's better this way."
"Aoki," he pleaded, as the boy turned away and walked quickly away, losing himself in the village....
