VERY IMPORTANT MOD ANNOUNCEMENT

comment_ficAfter much consideration, I have come to the conclusion that it is time for me to let go of the reigns of this comm. It has been a blast, and the community became so much more than what I originally imagined.
I've met some great people, read some amazing fic and been introduced to fandoms I might never have seen any other way.
As part of my decision, I asked the mod staff if any of them wanted to take over the comm. Unfortunately, at this time, none of them have the time required, and all of them have indicated that they would prefer to step down at this time.
What this means for the comm
I am happy to turn this comm over to someone who is interested in keeping it going. With the mods stepping down, the ftp server that hosts our rotating banners is also gone, but the banners can be sent to someone to host elsewhere.
If no one speaks up to take the comm over by Sunday evening, the comm will go dormant, posting access will be shut down. I will not delete the comm until December 31st, however, to give everyone time to pull any fic down that they want to keep, but haven't saved elsewhere.
It's been a lot of fun, but all good things eventually come to an end, and for me, this is my stop.

Date: 2012-08-22 01:17 am (UTC)What exactly would running the comm entail, and would it be something that could be split fairly easily between a few people? (Since that sounds like partially what has been happening anyway, and several people are volunteering to assist?)

Date: 2012-08-22 02:18 am (UTC)I have always had one person who handled the guest hosts (recruited, scheduled, ensured posting access), another who handled the code monkeys (who index the prompts), one who was in charge of graphics, etc. Recently we added someone who's job was to make sure the post went up on a daily basis, and we usually have one or two back up mods, who have all the necessary access to fill in for anyone who couldn't do their job for whatever reason.

I wish I could offer my help, but between RL and starting a new Disney comm today (DisneyScribers, if any one's interested), I don't see myself having much free online time, if any once you also add all my other regular things to that previously mentioned combo.
But I am really thrilled to read that the comm will be continuing and wish you all the best of luck. This comm has become my favorite as it continually inspires me to write in fandoms I love but otherwise rarely pen for, like BtVS, Angel, Labyrinth, and The Addams Family. I look forward to continuing to prompt and write with/for our members!
Also, when things do get straightened out, perhaps the new mod(s) may be interested in affiliating with my new Disney comm? And does anybody happen to remember the prompt that involved Disney characters at Hogwart's? I'd like to contact the person who posted that particular prompt.
