* If your fill do contains spoilers, please warn accordingly and leave enough space for people to pass by.
To help the hardworking codemonekys please format your prompts as such:

He didn't bother to knock on the door. He just went around the house and headed for the weather beaten chairs close to the shoreline. Dropping into the chair he stared out over the black water and watched as lights from planes tracked across the night sky. One of those planes held his brother.
He never heard Steve approach; he just felt the cold beer touch his hand. Taking the opened bottle, he silently saluted his friend as Steve dropped into the chair next to him and drank his beer. He was right to come here. This was what he needed more than comforting arms that would be cold and empty in the morning.

Date: 2012-08-29 04:12 am (UTC)One day she finds herself in the garden, and thinks that the space behind a cluster of olive trees would be the perfect size for a pair of graves. Her children still breathe, but Medea likes to be prepared, and she digs the graves by hand with a slim trowel, heaping the dirt almost lovingly. The dirt stains her hands and the hems of her clothes, and she remembers in sorrow how she'd pulled her brother Absyrtus's limbs apart so long ago on the island. She hadn't had time to bury them then, and it pained her that it fell to their father to see him properly buried.
When the day comes she will bury her children. And she is so sure it will, she has seen it in a vision, too hazy to see more -- and what mother would want to -- than their dead eyes and the dark splatter of red against pale skin from the blood dribbling from the corners of their mouths.
She should examine the vision furthur, but she chooses to close her eyes to it. Seeing her dead children's faces once is enough. She knows she must see it again, when it happens, but she would not see it a third time, not even to know by what method and whose hand they die.
Medea stares at Jason and it is as if she is seeing him as an afteraffect. Pelias's words are hard to get out of her mind, still as fresh as the ram cooking in a pot over the fire.
"Hera made me love you," he had said, spitting the words out like they were venomous. "Do you think I would if I had a choice?"
The love she was familiar with was not as bitter or jealous as his seemed to be. "You would try to kill my husband."
"I am surprised you have not seen it, with all your tricks and spells," Pelias had told her. "Hera has betwitched you, too, made you love Jason so you would help him retrieve the Golden Fleece."
"That is a lie," she had replied. "You have told me nothing but lies. I will have your life for all of the lies you have told me."
"And I would give it to you gladly, my lady." He stares at her with spiteful eyes. "For all the love I bear you."
She wants to ask him, if he knows anything about that. It has been so long since he told her he loves her. Pelias has tainted the words now; hearing them would only evoke the way he shouted them at her, passionate and furious.
The unease gnaws at her. Should she ask? She opens her mouth to speak, but chooses silence. When she looks up at him again, the same effect is there, and she recognizes it for what it is - the result of a spell.
Should she kill Glauce with poison or a knife? A hired knife would not faze her, as long as the job was done. She chooses poison; she has more confidence in it. Glauce dies for daring -- and succeeding -- to steal Jason from her, not that she wants him when the realization of the lies that have made up her life have finally come to light. Medea makes the decision to kill them all the moment he abandons her.
But she would not kill him. She has dug no grave for him. The children will die -- a well-crafted poison meant to kill quickly and without pain slipped into their drinks, sweetened with honey to mask the taste -- and Jason will have the deaths of his sons as the price for his betrayal. Children that she never would have had but for a love-spell.
After the graves have been filled, she wonders where she should she go now. She cannot stay in Corinth. To Thebes, or to Athens?
She chooses Thebes.
