Date: 2013-02-14 01:38 am (UTC)He's bound, hands to knees, feet to wall. There's a collar around his neck, and there are open sores where it chafes. His leathers and armor and gold have been cut away.
"Thor told us."
But even in such a state, the monster can smile. It's a horrid look, all white teeth inside red, red lips and gums.
"Did he," says the snake, and he sounds amused. "I'm surprised he remembers."
"Of course he does." Even Thor is not that thick.
He shifts, the chains clanking, the collar shifting and pushing a new trickle of blood from a catch the side of his neck. You hate looking at this. It's sick. It makes your stomach churn. He notices, and his eyes dance.
"Haven't you seen chains before, Captain?"
Too many, your mind supplies. You don't respond, but he can see the thought in your eyes. But he doesn't laugh as you thought he would. Instead, he frowns, teeth disappearing behind his lips again, the new blood pooling unsteadily in the blister.
"You don't like them," he says, a little slower than usual. "Not even on your enemies."
You shake your head. "I don't," you say, truthful because you always have been; you won't change that even for him.
He laughs, a hoarse bark of a sound. It makes the collar jump with the jerk of his shoulders, spilling more blood, both dark and bright, as it lands; the chains all rattle anew. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, and that's the part that makes your skin crawl.
"Don't worry, dear Captain," smiles the snake. "I've had hundreds of years to grow used to this."
