Well my week of hosting is coming to an end -- thank you for playing along -- so to finish off today's prompt is: Love lines.

Prompts should be a few lines from either a love song or a love poem. Of course it doesn't necessarily have to be about when love goes right.

Some simple rules:

John scrubbed everything down again. He was on his hands and knees working on a particular stubborn stain on the floor when Oliver returned.

"Dig, what are you doing?" Oliver asked from somewhere behind him, probably by the stairs, but John didn't turn around to check.

"Just cleaning, sir."

"Sir?" Oliver huffed. "You only call me that when you're mad at me. What did I do now?"

Sloshing some fresh water over the area he'd been working on, John frowned. The stain was still there. He grabbed the wire brush at started attacking it with even more fervour.

"Dig?" This time the tone was hesitant and then Oliver was there, directly behind John and resting a hand on his shoulder. John didn't relax into its warmth, but it was enough for a little of the tension to leech out of him.

"I'm just trying to clean up," he said, pointing to the stain.

"It's okay, Dig, really. I'm okay."

"But you almost died. You did die. If Felicity hadn't fixed the defibrillator." He shook his head, trying to clear it.

"But she did," Oliver pointed out. "And I'm fine now."

"That's debatable."

"Oh, very funny." Oliver reached down and grabbed the brush out of his hand. "It's dinnertime, let's go get burgers. My treat."

John nodded, half to himself. "Oliver?" he began. There were so many things he wanted to say- don't try to go it alone, stop taking everything on yourself, don't let yourself be hurt like that again, I'm here and I want to help, be more careful- but he settled on, "don't do that again." He didn't specify further, but he knew Oliver understood when he heard the soft response,

"I won't. I swear. Is Carly working tonight? She can glare at me and you can look at the newest pictures of your nephew while we eat." Oliver strong-armed John to his feet. " Now, come on, let's get out of here, sound good?"

"Yeah. Yeah, it does," John replied. And it actually did.

Dean hadn't heard from Cas in a while. It absolutely was not killing him inside more and more with each day that passed with still no word from Cas.

It didn't make him want to scream or beat up someone or destroy something. And it definitely didn't make his throat itch and eyes burn at night when he was alone and his prayer went unanswered for the umpteenth night in a row.

Cas was busy. He had other things to worry about, bigger issues he had to solve. More important things than checking in with Dean.

It was just hard, or so he told himself, to get used to the fact that Cas wasn't just around anymore. First they fought they apocalypse. Then they fought Lucifer. Then the war on Heaven...which led to other stuff, bad stuff that Dean doesn't want to think about anymore. He had spent so much time being angry with Cas, that he didn't want to spend any more time feeling that way. He just wanted things to go back to normal.

Or what was normal for them, anyway. They had been through so much together, that it couldn't just end like this. Could it? Could Cas just decide that one lowly human wasn't worth it anymore?

It didn't sound like Cas, but maybe that was the problem. Dean didn't really know him anymore.

Dean took a breath and did what he did every night. He prayed. "Come on, Cas. I know that you're still out there. Just tell me you're okay. At least some sort of sign. Anything to know that you're still there, still listening." He took a breath. "I don't know how much longer I should do this, but you know me. I'm a sucker for punishment." He closed his eyes. "I'll keep hanging on...I just wish you were here to tell me it's all going to be alright."

Dean waited as he did every night, but only silence rang in his ears.
