Hello, everyone. I’m agirlnamedtruth and today's theme is 'Song Lyrics'. Prompts can involve the lyrics or the titles of any song you like, let the music inspire you. Please try to include the song name and artist for reference.

The rules still haven't changed:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
No spoilers in prompts.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.

He'd wanted to learn flame alchemy to change the world. His master insisted he wasn't ready, but Roy knew he was. And when he went home, hearing of the current stance of Drachma, and Creta, and even the rumbles of an uprising in Ishval, Roy knew what he had to do, and signed up for the military.

It just angered his master more. The old man said there was no way he'd teach any alchemy to a military man, even laughed when Roy insisted the military would welcome a man with Berthold Hawkeye's skills. (He hoped Master Hawkeye hadn't had a heart attack from that suggestion.)

Roy didn't realize just how right Master Hawkeye had been. Life in the military was not what he'd expected. Instead of police actions, the military - the State Alchemists - were ordered to obliterate, rather than incapacitate. His mastery of flame alchemy proved to be an invaluable addition to the destruction of Ishval.

At the end of the Ishvalan War, standing alongside his compatriot and friend, Maes Hughes, Roy made a vow. His flames would not longer be used in cold fury, but to assist others. His skills would be used to protect rather than punish. And he would some day find a way to make sure nothing like Ishval ever happened again.

As battle cries go, theirs is hardly going to strike fear into the heart of their enemies.

In fact, Eliot wouldn't even call it a battle cry. He doesn't want to call it a battle cry... Except Hardison's been saying it all damned day, and now Eliot is calling it that in his head, and he's really pissed off about that, even before Quinn frowns and asks, "What the hell are they singing?"

"They're not," Eliot growls. "You're not singing that," he says more loudly, although he knows he doesn't have to raise his voice for Hardison and Hardison's little friend to hear him over the comms.

"Uh, yes, we are," Chaos (that stupid fucking name) says at the same time that Hardison whines, "Dude. Starkid totally rocks."

"Who-"

"Don't ask," Eliot warns, but it's already too late. Hardison is off - ranting about musicals and culture and Harry fucking Potter.

"Eliot, if he doesn't shut up-"

"Hardison, cool it with the Harry Potter crap," Eliot barks. They're right in the middle of a heist, and he's fighting off two big Norwegians at once. Wounded. In the dark. He feels like a goddamned pre-school teacher.

"I can't believe you two meatheads aren't secure enough in your masculinity to enjoy-"

"What did you just say to me?" Quinnn demands, in a voice like death itself.

Eliot frowns, although Quinn could be talking to the Norwegian whose head he is currently pounding into the floor, while the big dumb bastard continues to slur foreign curse words at him.

"Ah, no. You did not just insult the man's masculinity," Eliot hears Hardison scold through his earpiece.

Chaos is quick to answer back. "Here we are, having a rare bonding moment-"

"We were- Dude. We weren't having a moment... Don't even say shit like that!"

What ensues is fifteen minutes of the strangest, nerdiest argument over whether or not singing together constitutes "having a moment" - and whether or not one of those makes a man less of a man - that Eliot has had the misfortune to overhear. By the end of it, he almost misses the singing.

"Aw, Hardison and Chaos aren't buddies anymore," Parker pouts when her comm comes back online.

But then the arguing turns into girlish screams and a highipitched "Ow! Ow! OW, Dude, no biting!" and Eliot hears Quinn chuckling.

"Thank god," he says.

Eliot figures all is again right with the word. They may all have to work together to bring down today's Bad-Guy-of-the-Week...

But that doesn't mean they have to like it.
