Hey, y'all, this is still [livejournal.com profile] tigriswolf. Today's theme is the four elements: air, earth, water, fire. Interpretation is up to you.

Y'all know the rules, of course:

No more than five prompts at any one go; if one of your prompts is filled, feel free to leave another.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
No spoilers in prompts.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.

Prompts should be formatted as follows:
Fandom, Character+/Character, Prompt

Have fun!

Try to Catch the Deluge

Mitchell and Jana adored Kurt—he was strong, colorful, and nigh-on fearless, and he meshed well with them from the start, making the perfect Vincent to their Orleanne and Sabrina in the company’s touring gender-flip of Twelfth Night. Really, they’d expected the replacement for their former Vincent to be passable at best, someone to be worked around, so they’d both been stunned and delighted when Hummel had joined them in Dallas a day early and ready to dive right into lines and blocking. Jana would have asked him out if he hadn’t been very clear about his preferences, and Mitchell just loved having someone around who didn’t needle him for making up songs to help himself remember his cues and get into the emotions of a given scene.

But there were a couple of things about him that they would never understand… why he refused to drink (or be near anyone else drinking) anything with color; why he laughed through James Bond but cried through Charlie and the Chocolate factory; and why he went outside, in the middle of a Texas spring thunderstorm, and turned his face up to the sky. They watched him, unable to tear away their gazes, and they more than half expected him to start screaming into the wind, an expression of defiance… but he never did. They theorized quietly that he might just like getting drenched… but he was fastidious about his appearance. Not even the start of the hail, or the distant sound of emergency sirens from one of the ‘burbs, seemed to faze him. They went outside, finally, dashing over to get him under Jana’s ridiculously oversized Tinkerbell umbrella and to talk him into coming in, but in the end, neither of them said a word to him. They bracketed him and opened their mouths to speak, but then they saw his expression, and the words died and blew away in the horizontal rain. They stood, transfixed, the British bit-part actor and the gutsy Canadienne, unable to put into words the kind of energy in their new friend’s face.

After a few minutes, Kurt said simply, “You can’t stop the rain; you can hide from it, you can curse it... or you can open your soul and drink.” And with that, he turned around and walked back into the theatre.

When Chris appeared in the middle of the living room, abruptly, a limp form with obvious injuries, the Halliwells froze for a moment in shock. Leo was the first to move, lunging to kneel next to his child, realizing two things all too quickly: one, that since he had no powers, he could no longer heal the young man, and two, that it scarcely mattered, as Chris was obviously beyond most healing. Patches of skin were angry and blistered with edges that blackened before Leo’s eyes, some sort of vine twined tightly around Chris’s ribcage, the broken form was soaked from head to toe, and bits of wood and glass protruded from his exposed arms and face. The boy must’ve used the last vestiges of his power and strength to come home—Leo had seen that happen, very occasionally, with people of great power--though if this was his subconscious’s home, one had to wonder about Chris’s current reality.

They didn’t really have time to wonder much, or even to call for help, before they found themselves surrounded by burly men in dark suits; and before they could react to that, another shower of blue-ish lights resolved itself, and Leo found himself eye-to-eye with adult Wyatt, complete with shoulder-length hair and eyes like burning ice.

Wyatt barely spared a glance for his family before he looked down at his younger brother’s lifeless form; the blond man laid a hand on Chris’s chest while holding out the other behind him, and one of the goons stepped forward to hand him a candle with four distinct sections bounded by a wraparound wick. Wyatt pinched one end of the wick, gathering power in his fingers to light it, and then held the candle horizontally over his brother and said, in a low near-growl,

“Earth grows,
Water flows,
Air shifts,
and Fire burns,”

And with each line, the flame ate way the wick between two sections, leaving a deep groove with melded colors as it advanced,

“Mercury moves,
Space expands,
Time flies,
The world turns,”

And now the wick was gone, but Wyatt held the candle as if nothing had changed, though his voice got steadily stronger as he went on,

“But in all of space and all of time,
The dragon never can be free,
Lest by light of love, soul-bound
The dragon to his falcon be,”

He placed the candle along Chris’s sternum, gently placed one of Chris’s hands on the candle and covered the hand with his own, and gazed at his brother’s wounded face,

“So you who seek this guardian to steal,
Feel my fire in every cell:
The dragon wakes, the bond renews—
YOU CANNOT HAVE THIS HALLIWELL!”

For a breath, for a beat, nothing happened, and then…

Any, any, Water is patient... Water just waits. Wears down the cliff tops, the mountains. The whole of the world. Water always wins. Doctor Who, Ten, The Waters of Mars

The mortals say blood is thicker than water and pretend that's a good thing. For them maybe it is. Their lives are so short they can’t witness the true power of water. They have to live with the vitality allowed to them, that burns through their veins and is gone mere moments later, and so they invest it in those closest to them: those given to them by fate and fortune. The bonds they form are as tenuous and fleeting as their own longevity.

But Methos, he lives beyond blood. He has seen the power of water. Not only in its flood and rains and great waves, but in its steady drips and still pools. Water just waits. Wears down the cliff tops, the mountains, the whole of the word. Water always wins in the end. There are bonds formed that run deeper than blood - bonds that run like water, bonds that twine through the marrow of his bones and the essence of his Quickening. These bonds saturate every open space and wear away all resistance.

And the steady drip is now echoing to him, brother. Brother mine, come to me.
