Thursday: Out of Context
Apr. 11th, 2013 12:01 amHappy Thursday, everyone! Back when I signed up to host (last September), I selected the theme for today, and now I have no idea what I meant. This strikes me as ironically appropriate since today's theme is out of context. Prompts can focus on conversations or actions that are misunderstood, stories about events that "you just had to be there for," or, well, any other creative way you would like to interpret this theme.
The rules still haven't changed:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
No spoilers in prompts.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.
Prompts should be formatted as follows:
Fandom, Character+/Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
The Listener, Toby, Sometimes Toby entertains himself by trying to reconcile what people are thinking which what they're doing/saying. He doesn't always succeed.
Teen Wolf, Sheriff and/or Melissa outsider!POV, They overhear a conversation about the goings on in their kids' lives and come to an absolutely logical and completely incorrect conclusion about what they heard.
Highlander, Amanda, Amanda tells her favorite thieving anecdote. What happened and why it went down that way made perfect sense at the time.
Think today's prompts are missing something? Visit the lonely prompt archive and brighten someone’s day.
Have fun and happy Thursday!

Micro-Fill - Based on What my Schoolmates called thumb-dislocations
Date: 2013-04-11 04:55 pm (UTC)"Hmm?" Steve looked over questioningly at Tony - he was wary, sure that Tony had some nasty double-entendre in mind, but he couldn't figure it out.
"Got a bad case of loneliness, huh?" Tony said, walking over to Steve, grinning wickedly.
Now Clint was looking, and Coulson looked like he was appraising the nearest exits. Steve flushed, still unsure of what Tony meant, but unwilling to rudely ignore the man.
"I - I don't know what you're getting at," he said stiffly.
"Well, it's not Tennis Elbow with a support for your hand, is it?"
"Meaning?"
"Steve Rogers, Captain America - JARVIS can I get a drumroll?"
"No, sir, you may not"
" - You've got Wanker's Thumb."

short fill
Date: 2013-04-11 05:28 pm (UTC)"Why do you keep referencing that movie? You know I've never seen it, and I know you know I've never seen it because I say so every time you ask."
Annie frowns at Jeff, giving him that pointed look that she does. That 'be sensitive to Abed' look.
"I've been trying to subtly hint that you should watch it with me sometime," Abed explains, and Jeff chokes on subtly while Britta spouts some encouraging and irrelevant open-minded garbage and Pierce choruses the gay jokes they've heard a hundred times before.
Abed just keeps staring at Jeff. Jeff never wins with this group.
"And if I do watch this movie with you, you'll stop talking about Satan's cats, right?" he asks, words laced with familiar exhaustion and irritation.
Abed nods. Jeff sighs.
They watch the movie on Friday. Jeff remembers it's a Friday because afterwards, they get pizza, and it's not until Abed drops his sixth Meg Ryan reference of the night that Jeff figures it out. Sleepless in Seattle, Jeff has seen.
