"Hm? Do what?" Ed asks, evasive and edgy. Lying barely clothed on a table without automail will do that to a man.
"You were reciting the Periodic Table again. You do that a lot. Why?" Winry looks up from where she's tinkering with Ed's leg.
"Uh, n-no reason. Just... Habit?" Ed's response isn't sure if it's a question or answer. "Maybe I'm keeping my mind occupied while you ... maim me."
Winry smirked at that, and moved over to stand beside him. "I do it too, y'know. Except not the Periodic Table. And not out loud. I list all the different components of automail," she said sympathetically.
"You do? Why?" Ed asked, now genuinely curious.
"No reason," Winry shrugged and reattached the nerves.
"Well... It's easier to forget I love you when I do it," she murmured softly over Ed's indignant howls.
