Friday: Meta
Jun. 21st, 2013 07:08 amRise and shine, lovelies. This is
nevcolleil, giving you your theme for the final time this week. Today the theme is Meta. Nowadays, meta is generally taken to mean "self-referencing". (There are a couple of short discussions of it here and here.) In Greek, it's a prefix meaning "after-" or "beyond-". So do with that what you will!
Some examples:
♥ Chuck, Chuck, metafile
♥ Suits, Mike +or/ Harvey, winning their case means proving that the opposing counsel is lying about his credentials and convincing the jury that this makes him unfit to prosecute
♥ Hannibal/Criminal Minds, Hannibal + BAU team (+ Will), the BAU asks Dr. Lecter to give their team his professional opinion on a cannibal that varies his method of killing his victims
The rules:
♥ No more than five prompts in a row.
♥ No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
♥ No spoilers in prompts.
♥ If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space.
♥ Prompts should be formatted as follows: Fandom, Character+/Character, Prompt (like examples above)
Have fun, guys, and I'll catch you on the flipside.

Date: 2013-06-22 02:13 am (UTC)So it came as no surprise to the Goblin King that his life was fancifully portrayed on the pages of an Overground fairy-tale novel. That book had been passed through many hands over the years.
In a quiet moment (which was rare with a horde of rowdy goblins), Jareth could close his eyes and feel the flick of fingertips rustle his pages, with the occasional wet lick. He could feel the wisp of soft breath as young voices would recite that cursed anti-spell.
Some read his just out of fancy, or boredom. Some wished to go head-to-head with the Goblin King himself, and the accents in which they read his voice varied from hilarious to horrifying.
And some simply wished to escape their world and run away to his. A very small few ever got invited in.
The lost and the lonely---that’s who read Jareth’s book.
The concept of a “motion picture”, however, was a bit more difficult for the Goblin King to grasp.
